The food was amazing but the service sucked. Took at least 15 minutes for a drink and the other two people in my party got theirs way before I did. Server forgot to take our entree order. Thankfully we had ordered an appetizer. Was probably 25-30 minutes after we sat down when our order was finally taken. Only thing that made it okay was that the food was worth it. read more

Good was excellent. We tried tacos and quesadilla along with tableside guacamole and all of it was fresh, flavorful and delicious. It's a little place and doesn't look like much from the outside but those are some of my favorite places. The Mexican rice was beyond good and you could tell had been freshly made. The flavor on the steak chicken and carnitas was excellent- each different but tender and seasoned to perfection. We will be back to try more!!! read more

Best steak fajita I've ever had in my whole life! This place is authentic and delicious. The only down-side is it is very small and you might have to wait to get a seat. All the food we've had is super good. We love this place. The chips are crisp and hot, the bean dip is fresh, and the food is very good. The have a handmade guacamole bowl appetizer they make at your table. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I had dinner there last week and I love the food, the service and oh yeah, did I say great food? I love Mexican cuisine and this is the only place I've gone to for it in years because I've so often been disappointed but not with this place. I ate on the patio, and don't have the inside experience yet, but, I will go again. Our server was Samuel and he was very attentive, even though they were very busy. It was a Thursday night. The only drawback I did not like, was there was no host on the patio and I don't like those chairs... but the menu is extensive and the prices are so reasonable that you can eat there once a week and try everything on the menu and it won't break the bank. I waited in line for 15 minutes before someone finally approached me and asked me to write my own name down on a clipboard in a basket. They looked at me like I had two heads until then. I do not know why this place has the ratings that it does; It was terrible. I ordered the steak chimichanga and asked for no salsa on top. First of all, the chimichanga is fried but mine was not. I received my meal and the chimichanga was soggy and the steak was chewy. Because I asked for no salsa on top, they did not put any thing except for steak and cheese inside. Upon receiving the food, we did not hear from our waiter until we were finished and I asked for the bill. 15 min. later I got the bill with an additional charge of $1.50. They charged me for asking for no salsa on top. They should have gave me $1.50 off for saving on their side and because the food was terrible. Please do not waste your time, I do not know why they have good reviews. I also tried the one in Anderson. I ordered tacos. They too were terrible. Thought I would give this one a try and now I know, they are all the same. read more

***Very cramped.*** There are no six-seater tables, so our party of six sat at a booth that had a table set on the end, with my fiancé and I sitting out in the aisle eating off of an extremely wobbly table. With the salsa bar that people have to get up for, it makes for a very cramped, traffic-filled restaurant. ***Food was good.*** I had a taco salad with carnitas that was huge and delicious and had a very crisp shell. It could have been split between two people. It was $7.99 and seemed to be worth the price considering how big it was (I normally see smaller taco salads around $5 elsewhere). However, that is not enough to give a good rating considering what happened with my drink. ***Mixed alcoholic drinks are not worth ordering.*** I ordered the drink on special for the night - a Tropical Mojito in Strawberry. It tasted like there was absolutely no alcohol in it whatsoever. I let the waiter know after drinking about half of it and he went to go get some more "alcohol" to put in it. It tasted a little more watered down than before. To me, it seemed like maybe they put a little alcohol in the shot glass he poured in my glass, but that the rest of it was entirely water. I got absolutely no buzz off of that drink, even with it "fixed." It makes me even more displeased with this restaurant when they say they will fix something, and it doesn't get fixed. It was like they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes with their poor attempt to "fix" it, and I do not appreciate that when I am paying them for a service. read more

My wife and I just returned from eating out at Papas & Beer and what a treat it was. When I first came to Greenville back in 1982 Mexican Restaurants were a rarity as compared to out West. There menu was packed full of popular Tex/Mex style dishes. Our waitress "Christina" did a excellent job of helping us with the menu selection and was very attentive to our needs from the beginning to end of our meal. Based on our first time experience eating at Papa & Beer we plan to be repeat customer's. I would agree the parking lot is small. Hopefully, in time the parking issue can be improved on in order to accommodate future business/customers. read more

Our favorite restaurant. We come here at least twice a month. Tonight, nothing was right. We were seated thirty minutes before getting our drinks. The Dos Equis was Luke warm, instead of bringing a cold beer, they offered a cold glass. (Doesn't help when the beer is already warm.) My skinny margarita was sour -- not just tart. We ordered the warm salad, which we have often. The shrimp were cooked until tough, the dressing was just vinegar -- not the usual delicious dressing. I would have just written this evening off -- chalked it up to a bad night for the restaurant, except that they didn't care at all. read more

New location, I hope they can get it together. Someone came and tossed a basket of chips on the table. It was only after i asked our server if we could get salsa we were told we had to go in and get it ourselves. Runner brought our food and walked away before we could get out we needed silverware. Sat for a few minutes before I had to go inside and ask for silverware. Food was very disappointing, little to no flavor. Server was nice, but clearly overloaded and wasn't really being helped by support staff. If I could give it one star I definitely would. Walked in, completely packed! Understandable since it's after 6 and happy hour is ending. Waiting to be seated for 25 mins, the hosts/busboy skipped over my party because we never wrote down our names when they clearly seen us walked in. Ordered a Margarita within 10 mins waiting for our table and had to wait and ORDER it again because she forgot to put in the order. Finally we get seated and the busboy has a nasty attitude while seating us and never asked us if we needed a high chair for my child. No One greeted us in 5 mins until I had to flag someone down about my WATERED DOWN Margarita. Now I am waiting once again almost 8 mins to be exact for my new Margarita. This place looks like a dive .... but the food is incredible! Plan ahead to get a table because it is standing room only around meal time. My husband and I split the beef fajitas and we have leftovers to take home. The salsa bar is to die for and the chips delicious. I usually don't like grilled squash in my fajitas, but they made it so delicious, I ate it without hesitation and looked for more. We live in Auburn, AL and can't wait for our next visit to Simpsonville so we can go to Papas and Beer. In fact, we like to stop in for a quick meal even before checking in with the family! read more
