This is a really a nice addition to Galt and the great Sacramento area. This place is trendy and is very focused on alcohol sales. This usually means warmed over food. The wings were cooked perfectly. The fries had a wonderful texture and the pesto sauce was amazing! Friendly wait staff. Clean dining room. While they have kinks to sort out, I am confident that they will be just fine. One big negative is the pretzel appetizer was disappointing. It was a poor value and you can tell that most of the appetizers are frozen food items that get nuked. Hone in the appetizers with some house-made items and this place will be a Galt icon in no time. I have been putting this review off for a long time. I hate writing 1 start reviews for local small businesses but I have to. I have been here 6 times now since they first opened. I've been here 3 times now since the old manager has been gone and I had hoped it would improve as it seemed he was the problem, he was a problem but the others remain. Service: The only time I have had good service was a few months ago and I sat at the bar where the bartender was attentive. I also want to add that the past 4 times I have been there having only been a handful of tables with people. So it's not that they were slammed. In the beginning, service was the opposite, too much because the old manager would yell at employees in front of customers to go check on the tables every few minutes or so, way too much. And yes, I witnessed this myself on two visits. Now the opposite is true. You can't get anyone's attention when you need something. For instance, we got our food and had no silverware. We took it off a neighboring table. Another table behind us ended up having to do the same thing and we shared our napkins with them because all of the staff was in the kitchen. It seems that everyone gathers in the kitchen to chit-chat and ignore the patrons. Last night for example I had a direct view into the kitchen only to see about half a dozen employees gathered in a circle chatting. Took a while just to get a glass of wine, but I have a feeling it may have been because the bartender threw the tag away. She seemed inexperienced, I watched her grab a handful of tickets as they came out of the printer and place in the trash without looking at them. This would be ok if they were drinks she had made and she had just put in but she didn't even look to see if there were tags from the server on the floor. Then our fo0d came out in the strangest order. First, we got my burger and my friend got his wings. I still hadn't gotten my salad or wine yet. About 5 minutes I got my salad and a bit after that I got my wine. Another 5 or so minutes later he finally got his BLT. I had asked for oil and vinegar for my salad but was informed that they didn't have that or any sort of vinegarette. I can see the vinegarette but who doesn't have basic oil and vinegar? And then we were hardly through our meals when we were asked if we wanted our check. Umm... we just started eating? The table next to us was asked the same thing as well. At least wait until it's obvious we're nearing the end of our dish and server 101 is you always ask if anyone wants dessert. Food: Meh, it has gotten a bit better since opening. The wings are actually cooked all the way through and the fries are crispy. In the beginning, these two things were a continuous problem. I'm sorry but if your business is named Papa's and Wings you should at least do those 2 things well. The menus leave something to be desired though, it's very basic. Same with the wine list. The beer list is at least better. My burger was pretty flavorless, it appeared to be a premade frozen patty with very little seasoning. At least the bacon and avo added something. My friend said his BLT was ok. Nothing special. Prices: Too high for what you're getting. Seriously, why are you charging so much for this food? The appetizers are way overpriced. I can get a much better burger that is not pre-made at Brewster's for the same price. The wine was decently priced. But the beer... the beer prices and drink prices are way too high. This isn't Downtown Sacramento, it's Galt. I can go down the road to the brewery to get a beer for half the price and it's yummy. Cleanliness: The restaurant itself seems to be very clean and crisp. I appreciate that. But my concern is all of the people in the kitchen with their hair down. I was a server for many years and you were never allowed to have your hair down while working, especially in the kitchen. I observed several people just last night in the kitchen swinging their hair around while socializing and 2 others running their hands through their hair and then going out on the floor without washing their hands. This is a big no-no. On the floor, everyone was wearing their masks as mandated but as soon as they were in the kitchen they were pulled down or even off. As I said, I hate giving local small businesses bad reviews but I have been here 6 times since day 1. It pains me even more during COVID. However, I am still disappointed. I was hoping things would turn around but I don't have faith that will happen. Judging by some of the other reviews and the lack of people in the establishment at 7 pm on a Saturday, even with the fight on, I am not sure how much longer they'll have their doors open. Food is good. There's a good variety of items in the menu. They're loaded fries are amazing! I like that is one of few places in town to grab a quick drink and can watch the game. ONLY prob I have is the lack of acoustics!! It's SOOO loud that's it's not enjoyable. I would DEF go more often if they simply put some simple acoustics in the place to help absorb the sound. Management, I hope u consider this as it really could be an easy inexpensive fix. read more

For barely starting up it's a great place. Loved the Lockeford Sausage sandwich. My only suggestion to the new owners is to use calming ambient light bulbs in the bar so it's more relaxing in there. Overall the food and servers did fine. read more

I Just tried them for takeout last night and It was really good. I know a lot of places are struggling right now but these folks are still duking it out. I had the Cheese Steak sandwich and fries. It was really good and full of flavor. The wife had the carne asada fries with nacho cheese. She's a hard one to impress and she was extremely happy with it. We also ordered the fried Mac and cheese bites which were pretty good. We are still waiting to try the pulled pork sliders! Over all the food was good and the service was great! I feel that Galt is extremely lucky to have an establishment such as this and they will definitely have my future business!!! read more

I can get way better food for the same amount. Service was slow that time. Went back one more time for drinks with friends. Mixed drink tasted like battery acid. Service was slow for just drinks. If you're only looking for Cisco bar food and don't care about quality, this is the place to go. Nothing special. Not worth what you pay. Also, the vibe in there has gotten odd. Like it's not really a club or bar but they have a DJ in there starting at 7pm on the weekends. They also have mariachi and Banda music playing over the loudspeaker all the time. Friendly and attentive staff that's always accommodating. Food: Amazing "papas & wings"!!!! Wings come in 3 different styles with plenty of sauces to choose from. More selection of fries than I have ever seen at a restaurant before. I personally really enjoy the boneless wings, loaded fries, sausage, club and Philly sando! Oh anddd.......$1 TACOS FOR TACO TUESDAY!!!! And they're amazing tacos! I'm honestly always surprised that it's not busier here. Drinks: Great deals on pitchers of beer and great cocktails. I'm not a picky person. And I give places benefit of the doubt, especially if they're new. That being said my boyfriend ordered a dozen buffalo wings and asked them to mix it with garlic parm and they gave him a hard time about it and said they can't do that again. But it's a wing place?? I would imagine it's really not much more than tossing it in a bowl together or even just sprinkling on top. I only ordered fries with cheese and it took over 45 minutes, my boyfriend had his wings before I had the fries. I would like to say that's all but the price seems a bit high considering all we ordered were the 12 wings, fries, and 3 beers (2 coors light and one modelo) and the bill was nearly 60. Ordered the jalapeño tonight and what we got a goey mess that was so overly sweet with no spice, it was awful. Extra frustrating was that I had told them we were on keto and we could not do sugar. I really wanted to prove any negative reviews wrong about this place. For one, some people are super picky. 2nd, always wanted a place like this in Galt. Sadly, I was disappointed and so was no wife. We went in on a Friday night at 5:15 so we just "beat all the rush" of people. Yet, it took about 25 mins to get our one bowl of soup. Good thing I had a beer to hold me over but my 5 year old and almost 2 year old only had water plus our snacks from home. We only ordered clam chowder (tasted like canned soup) zucchini sticks and 6 boneless wings. The sticks looked very unappealing to me and my wife only ate them cause she was starving. My wings were good(sauce wise) temperature wise, they were cold.....like they say a while?!?? ‍. Everyone was very courteous & asked how we we're doing so it made it hard to "complain" so we only mentioned that the wings were cold , nothing came of that but an apology. I hope they improve their food speed without jeopardizing the flavors. My sons burger and curly fries were good, I'll give them that. Very poor food I'm a celiac and need gluten-free food. I informed the waiter of my needs then ordered the wings. They came with celery and carrots sticks both were old. The cut ends of the celery were brown/black the carrots were dry with white on the edges. Serivice was definitely a plus!! About every five minutes someone was asking if we needed anything. We were also greeted as soon as we came in. We ordered wings and loaded fries. The Garlic Parmesan wings were not good, but that is just our opinion. Others may like the taste. The Teriyaki and Pineapple ones were very good and so were the Korean Pepper. The loaded fries were good but our pork was very dry. They give you cucumber water and hand wipes which I just loved. They didn't have any items that were gluten free but they probably would adjust your order if you asked. The restaurant was very clean and it seemed like the Mgr was really on top of everything. We didn't see her again for 10 minutes. There was only 2 people in the restaurant when we got there. More people came in before we left. I found out she was the only one working that shift. I can't give 5 stars because the service was horrible. They weren't busy so there was no reason for our waitress to not check up on us. I love coming here, I've been coming since the huge New Year's Eve event and my time has been amazing. The food is pricy however the quality is well worth it. I have never had better taste from any other place and their service is amazing! Food was poor and service was too. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night and there were only 2 customers in the restaurant sitting at the bar. Drinks took over a half hour and came after our food. Some other lady brought us our drinks and was rude. Our server checked on us once about 50 mins later from when we ordered, and asked how everything was because she saw that we didn't really touch anything (my husband still drank his drink though ). I honestly but kindly told her that the loaded fries were really bad so we couldn't even eat them, and the same for my drink that I couldn't drink. I told her the wings were edible. The carne asada meat on our loaded fries had a very foul taste. The wings weren't appetizing but were edible. My drink tasted like water and alcohol and lacked flavor. (Apparently they don't have a bartender) Our server didn't seem to care that we were pretty disgusted and disappointed. She then took forever (again) to collect our payment, and the restaurant was still pretty empty. We paid our bill but we will definitely never come back. read more

Decided to try it for my daughter's birthday dinner. Was middle.of the week, so just a few patrons, but we were greeted warmly and offered our choice of seating. We started.with appetizer assortment and found all to be very tasty. When ordering my wife inquired about removing onions from her dish , but was advised they were pre mixed in. She was fine with that, figuring she could just pick them out. To her surprise the cook cut fresh veggies for her, leaving out the onions. What a pleasant surprise. The rest of the food was brought out equally delicious. Wouldn't necessarily expect the onion removal on a busy night, but the extra mile service was greatly appreciated. When they first opened their chicken was very meaty and tender but now it doesn't even resemble or taste like real meat.
