The fried chicken was fine (the menu warns that fried chicken takes 14 minutes {an oddly specific number} to prepare, not an hour). The mashed potatoes were pasty and bland, served without gravy. Not even salt and butter could make them worth shoveling into my mouth. The rice pilaf was okay, pretty similar to Uncle Ben's instant. The baked potato was too hard to eat. The fries were so-so. The cobb salad wasn't worth ordering again. I wouldn't go back for that food, even on a slow day when we can eat in the dining room or on the patio and the kitchen is faster. And I think we will remember why, for many more years. But hey: if you want to go drink beer and watch minor league baseball and indoor field hockey and go home with a headache, the Lakehouse is your spot!

Or you can shut the windows and pull the shades if the temperature and sun light isn't to your liking. I'm sure this would still be a great view in the cooler fall and spring seasons. The Boathouse is a large restaurant. However, I would encourage reservations via their web site. You can reserve the patio, bar or main dinning areas. The facility is nicely decorated in that boat theme. Lots of attractive hardwoods and lake colors. We found the restaurant to be very comfortable and relaxing. The menu is very large - something for everyone (see menus). Chicken, steak, pasta, salads, wraps, bowls, burgers, seafood - they have it. Prices are reasonable (steak $30+, chicken $23+, burgers $16+). We have been here a couple times. Each time the food was delicious and the service was what you would expect. Here is a run down on the items we ordered: -Table Bread: multigrain bread, served warm and soft, easily pulled apart; nice soft creamy butter accompaniment -Side Salad: simple salad, smaller in size; very fresh with a few side veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes, onion and shredded Parmesan cheese; crunchy croutons; homemade 1000 Island dressing was thick with a smooth taste -Burrito Bowl: my wife loved the fresh lettuce and peppers; chicken was nicely grilled, moist and slightly seasoned; rice was perfectly cooked with a firm consistency -Tenderloin (special menu item): outstanding! My fault for ordering steak at a pizza place? My steak came out absolutely awful wouldn't have gave it to my dog no joke! Kinda wondering if they got it from a reduced bin somewhere. Had a funny taste but the biggest problem was all the fat and no meat. I do get it sometimes you get a bad steak it happens. My wife's and my friend's steaks both looked good he got the ribeye as well as me and yes I understand ribeyes tend to have a little extra fat/marbling but this was completely unacceptable maybe at best 1/4th of my steak was actually edible. The fact that you charged 54 dollars for that was shocking. I would have been embarrassed to GIVE that one away to anyone. Grill yourself a steak from Walmart if you can stomach that you will be happier. Our waitress was ok no problems. She came back with the manager and when I told her the steak wasn't good maybe to see if I could maybe get a little off the price or would have been happy with a couple chicken nuggets just to have something to eat. She went completely hostile on me wouldn't change the price or anything she said I ate all of the steak even tho my party wasn't even half done with their plates. I asked her if she had even seen what our waitress returned to kitchen she said "yes it was all fat" I tried to explain to her that was the problem and the reason I sent it back I believe she thought i was trying to get a free meal or something. She wasn't hearing anything I had to say or just simply didn't care? Said that's how all their steaks were I asked why my friend didn't have any fat at all on his plate? I can't honesty believe she was a manager. I am in no way a con nor do I expect anything for free I still tipped and paid the ridiculous bill of 150bucks for 2 people. Maybe try the pizza if you do decide to try your luck here. Hopefully you will have something edible to eat. I honestly felt ripped off. Restaurant was clean and all of the steaks were cooked the way we requested other than my wife asking to get her filet mignon butterflied waitress came back said they could butterfly it but could only be cooked medium well?? New one for me. Only thing I regret was not taking a picture for you all to see. I felt the situation could have been handled better by management. Very unprofessional! We didn't have a good experience for our first visit. Prior to speaking to manager I would have considered trying the place again had things been handled more appropriately. Papas is such an institution in Culver! Food and drinks are amazing, staff is super friendly and welcoming all they ask in return is the same respect that they give to the customers :) the chocolate cake is a must for dessert!
