Visiting for a family reunion in which we only see each other every 2 years, we called ahead for a party of 13 and they told us they didn't take reservations after 6pm, but told us no problem, to come in. So we arrive at the restaurant and the lady in charge (probably owner, but maybe manager) is extremely rude and unwilling to accommodate us and our handicapped family member in a wheelchair. We sat at 3 different booths because according to her "they do not move tables," she would not give us any reason for her unwillingness to allow us to all sit together except for that "they do not move tables." She continued to be very unpleasant - Would not have stayed to eat if any other restaurant in town was open, definitely will not return. Despite the owner's rudeness and unwillingness to accommodate a large party and wheelchair, the waitress was nice enough and the food was fair. However, not worth the hassle and the distasteful treatment, would not recommend. read more

I'll make this short. I love Papa's. The pizza, for the area, is some of the absolute best. The beer selection is perfect for beer snobs with MANY rare beers on the list (they've been known to carry Zombie Dust). The calzones are where it's at for your money. Completely customizable, and so big you can eat half there and have the rest for breakfast. Their marinara is some of the best and I savor every bite. Went to get pizza and a couple beers with a buddy. Had the beers and was told we couldn't stay and eat are pizza because I questioned the policy of sampling beer. I absolutely understand you have to have rules and policies however when you order a beer and then the keg blows you should be able to get a 3rd sample between two guests especially when your paying a premium and a repeat guest. I hope the owner apologizes for his actions. I was just offered a beer by the bartender and then told to leave as my pizza was ready in the to go window. If I truly offended the bartender I'm sorry but you have to wonder why the offer of an additional beverage. In a small town not many options and I sure hope I get an apology A week has gone by still no comment Sad but true. The owner still no comment. As a summer camper at the Academies we always had it delivered, and as a counselor we frequented it often as it was so close to campus. You HAVE to try the chicken alfredo pizza. We were in town for my brothers wedding. This place is a favorite of theirs and since my wife's birthday was also during the week we decided this would be a great place to try. Man was I impressed. We had a big party (18 people). Our waitress was awesome, we never had to ask for drink refills or anything. My son and I had a thin crust pepperoni pizza, it was great. We ate there twice while daughter was at the academy and we really disliked the food and the service. The food was very greasy, one pizza had a pool of grease in the middle. I can't believe how pretentious this place is. The prices are insanely high, for mediocre food. The only thing upscale here are the prices! Right off the bat I got a bad vibe, when the waitress rolled her eyes when we ordered soft drinks and not alcohol. Really??? So unprofessional. The food arrived at awkward times, like my lobster bisque coming out a good 15 minutes before anyone else's soups or salads. I think the bisque was $8? Well, it was strangely sweet and tasted off, and was served in a cracked bowl. The spinach chicken salad my mom had was the best thing anyone ordered, it was quite good. Grilled chicken on top was charred and wonderful. The pasta dish I ordered was a joke--- $18 for spaghetti, then $5 extra for meatballs. When the pasta arrived, I was taken aback-- 2 small meatballs were on top. $23 for spaghetti and 2 meatballs. The meatball texture wasn't even that good, they were way too dense. $23 for a meal that cost 50 cents to make. Maybe less. We didn't try the pizza, but it looked horribly overpriced as well. Decor in the restaurant is cool, wonderful music memorabilia, and the spinach salad was excellent, but sorry guys, one star for snobbish service and stupidly high prices. Newsflash, this is Indiana!! There is no reason to go here with Lakehouse down the street. I'm surprised they have stayed in business this long! People in Culver must think that because it's expensive, it's good?? Great location just up the hill from the lake. It's a nice clean restaurant. Service was good but it wasn't very busy on a Saturday night. Seemed to be lots of take out pizza going out the door. My 14 year old son wanted spaghetti instead of pizza. The create your own pasta is way over priced. $16 for spaghetti and an additional $5 for 2 small meatballs. I had the 10 oz prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. The only complaint about my dinner would be that the waitress asked about my potato choice and I picked baked. It was good until I went to pay and realized it was an additional $5 for a baked potato. Next time we'll do pizza! Papa's is a great location but I'm not sure that I'll be back due to the high prices. read more

The last time we were in at PaPa's was back in the late 70's. Been by a thousand times since, but never had thought about stopping in, until we saw an ad on TV recently. We were hungry for pizza and thought we would give them a try. Your advertisement dollar at least brought us. The pizza was good and the service was good. We certainly will be back. read more

We were having fun until we walked in and the grouchiest little hostess welcomed us. She is awful. Every time you get there, she just starts yelling at you about something right away. Makes you not wanna eat or drink at all. I spend About $200 , three nights a week in that restaurant .yet, she's bitching and complaining because she had to loan me a five cent face mask. I don't go out for dinner to be scolded by the daughter-in-law of the owner because I forgot my mask. There's no way she would keep her job here if she wasn't related.To The owner. The bartender is fantastic and the food is OK,waitress are great .but she should be in the back in the kitchen washing dishes or scrubbing floors or something. she should not be dealing with the public. Just because there's hardly any restaurants in town doesn't mean she shouldn't try. OK, there's Covid if someone forgets , . Just hand them a mask. You don't have go on and on berating them and telling them to leave. Welcome them and tell them "thank you for coming. " It's not that hard. When you're charging $50 for a pizza and $30 for a salad you can afford a 5 cent mask once in a while. I had a scarf around my mouth but, She thinks that's not good enough. bandanas are fine.people eat there in spite of her. Nepotism does not always work. I've gone back and forth between 3 and 4 stars for Papa's. I live in Chicago so have had some really good pizza, with that said I give their pizza 3/5 stars. Within our group, the BBQ chicken pizza and sausage/pepperoni pizzas were big hits. I give Papa's 4/5 for service and ambience. They quickly sat my rowdy party of 12. Food came out fast and water was always full. It is always a plus when the waitress is very willing to work with splitting of checks, as I know this is a pain. I was also impressed with their extensive beer list, although I did not order anything. Prices were a bit steep outside of the pizza realm. I enjoyed the many album covers on the wall and the entire set up was great for families and groups, with the bar sectioned off. Great place for brews and za! read more

Great pizza for the area. I have had some of Chicago's best Pizza so I'm a bit spoiled. Papa's is some of the best your going to get in this area without a long drive. They were able to seat our large party of 16 which was a plus. Service was prompt and they were able to handle multiple checks at the same table. When back in Culver we will be back to this establishment. read more

5 Subway Subs have NOTHING on 5 dollar calzones at Papa's. I don't know anyone in Culver that hasn't eaten at Papa's and it's delicious. I also don't know anyone who has gotten anything but the pizza or calzone so I would stick with that and enjoy. read more

Highly dissatisfied with the way we were treated here. I was with a group of 6 people and from the moment we walked in the door the staff was very rude, especially Katie. We were told we had to wait for 30 minutes to get a table. We patiently waited and watched several parties get seated before us. After 35 minutes we asked how much longer it would be and we were told another 20 to 30 minutes, then a party of 5 was seated before us, after waiting for only 3 or 4 minutes. So we asked Katie if we could talk to a manager. She then told us that she was the manager and that her parents owned the place. She was extremely rude after that and told us that we needed to leave. We couldn't believe it! We have never been treated so badly in our lives. Katie obviously is too young to be equipped with the skills to run a restaurant and be respectful with the customers when under pressure. We will certainly not be going back and would never recommend this place to anyone. We will stick with all of the other fabulous, well respected restaurants in the town! read more

Papas is great food, but again - very expensive. Pizza is delicious but even a small one will run you about $15. If you opt to get it delivered, which they will do, it is an additional $3 or so, even if you are right down the street! and you have to tip the driver additionally so that small pizza will run you over $20! Also Papas is only open after 4 pm, so don't plan on going there for lunch or you will be sorely surprised when you arrive! read more

My husband liked the pizza he ordered, my Calzone was just okay. I didn't finish my calzone, as they give you two good sized pieces (which comes with 1 a small dish of pizza sauce). I asked the waitress if I could have some pizza sauce to take home with me to finish the other half of my calzone & was surprised to see a charge of 75 cents on our bill...really? The only positive thing about my most recent experience here was the service, the wait staff is constantly moving and doing. They are cheerful dedicated and knowledgeable. Now on to the reason for two stars, the food. Their lackluster miniscule portions are the cause of my disappointment. I ordered the crab cake, it was reasonably sized but not for the price. It was overly seasoned with black pepper and seemingly nothing else, their remoulade was more akin to miracle whip or thousand island dressing than the savoury slightly spicy sauce it should have been. My boyfriend had their "home made" lasagna, I believe that would be true if by home made you meant manufactured in a food processing plant and flash frozen to seal in the factory "freshness". The portion was tiny, which they tried to conceal with a false bottomed plate smothered in sloppy marinara. The garlic bread was a stale crust they attempted to resurrect by drenching it in butter and vigorously microwaving I'm sure. Yet again the only redeeming value of this place was the service, our server graciously accepted our criticism of the food (which was much less harsh and wordy than presented here) and removed the nearly untouched lasagna from our bill. The experience still hit my wallet for over $30 for two side salads, one drink, and a crab cake. read more
