Drove from Cedar City with my family and found the best gem of Caribbean cuisine in the heart of St George Utah, I ordered the stew chicken with Jamaican rice and plantains and my wife had the jerk chicken, we were so happy we even wanted to try the oxtail but were already full, no doubt it will be a great excuse to come back. This place is amazing. Mostly because I lived in Jamaica and loved the food and miss it. This is very authentic and VERY GOOD. Great for spicy jerk chicken or delicious curried chicken. I can't imagine you can ho wrong here. Just stopped by Papa's for the first time. The lady at the counter was very helpful in orienting me to their menu and helping me figure out what to order. I had the jerk pork, rice/beans, and plantains. The pork was very tender and flavorful (not spicy, as the menu suggests). It was a good-sized serving, and I left feeling quite full. We recently moved from Southern California, and our favorite restaurant was a Caribbean/Creole place there (Dhat Island in Redlands if you ever make your way down). We were so excited to come across Papa's Got Jerk when looking at local restaurants here, and were able to experience their food last night. Truly outstanding meals all around. We have 3 little kids, and they all loved everything. My wife's stewed chicken fell right off the bone, and my jerk pork was absolutely perfect. Very excited to keep visiting PGJ. We tried this small restaurant because the big chain restaurant across the street had too long a wait. So glad we did. The staff explained the different dishes. I really should thank for the too crowded Thai restaurant and temporarily closed ramen place. I ended up here not by choice. Now I signed up Yelp account to write my first review. I agree 100% with some other reviewers that the food is made by a lady full of love and patience. The oxtail with butter bean has the perfect combination of taste and texture. Seriously incredible food! I ordered the curry goat with plantains and my girlfriend had the jerk chicken with baked Mac. The goat is hands down one of the best dishes I've had. Ro (no idea if that's spelled right) took our order and was so helpful and great to talk to. Ended up taking some beef patties to go and had a quick chat with the owner. The food was really good!! I got the jerk chicken (which isn't super spicy) rice and peas and the baked Mac. Customer service was amazing they even offered me water while I waited. They have pictures of the food so you know what you're getting. The inside has nice comfortable seating and music playing as soon as you walk in. Overall everything was great!! read more

Papa's Got Jerk chicken is awesome! I had the jerk chicken lunch special, pictured here. It was wonderful! The chicken was delicious, flavorful, spicy, and perfectly seasoned. It came with rice, peas, and plantains, but you can choose your sides (I've been told the mac n cheese side is fantastic). Take out or dine in, the restaurant is clean, nice, and lots of seating inside and outside the restaurant. Reasonably priced, as well, as the large lunch portion and soda was $14. Located at 250 Red Cliffs Dr, it's StG's first jamaican-themed restaurant (and family-owned) and will not disappoint. read more

Do not pass up this tiny, counter-service, strip-mall joint! Although the space may be unassuming and the menu may seem limited, the food is phenomenal! It was a tough choice between the brown-stewed chicken and jerk but I wanted something spicy so went with the jerk. It was to die for! Juicy, fall-off-the-bone chicken, charred to perfection smothered in a myriad of spices accompanied with surprisingly delicious white rice. Andy got the jerk pork which he said was equally divine. His side of fried plantains was also amazing. They were almost black yet still tender and salted just right. The only thing a little underwhelming were my side of green beans. They tasted good but were just a bit on the cool side. We overheard the dude next to us telling someone to get the brown stewed chicken because of how awesome that was. He said that was actually his fav dish when he lived in Jamaica and that this place does a bang-up job of it so we will definitely be back to try that as well. read more

I grew up eating the jerked chicken from Brooklyn and queens. Papa can 100% rock with that New York jerked chicken. My only critique is the heat. I want HEAT.
