We had a group of 19 and this property did the trick for us. It's extremely well taken care of. Housekeeping was awesome and they provide plenty of linens. Vacasa was a pleasure to work with and made everything from check-in to check-out simple and straightforward. The location was perfect, just far enough from the main part of Duval Street where you can still walk to everything. I would recommend this property if you are renting the entire thing, but personally I would find it a little awkward to only rent one of the rooms. read more

Perfection! The rental office was wonderful for one. I had an issue with a very large (yet common) palmetto bug as soon as we arrived and they jumped right on making me know that none would come back. The pool was clean, cool and refreshing and large enough to fit multiple people. The grounds were tropical with daily iguana visitors. The room was perfection! Bed was large and comfortable, kitchen clean with everything we needed, altho we never needed it. Bathroom updated and clean and perfect. I was beyond pleased with my vacation choice and would recommend anyone to stay her. Walking distance from Southern Most point for Sunrise! Far from Mallory square but a nice walk. Still close to restaurants, bike rentals and stores. I stayed at Papa #4. Studio apartment with king bed, pull out couch and kitchenette. Perfect. read more

Best decision of our trip was to stay here! The price was low for all the great things about staying here! We got great advice from Fred about all the best things to do on our short stay. Andrea was a great host, extremely accommodating, and so sweet. Great breakfast spread with fresh fruit, bagels, cereal, muffins, and pastries. Great location-short easy walk or bike ride (we LOVED the bikes we rented right there and payment was easy, Andrea just added the $12 the charge on our room) to the main attractions on Duval Street. One of the things we loved about Papa's Hideaway is that it's closer to the calmer end of the "old town" part of the island, so you're still enjoying historic and idyllic Key West but avoiding the hustle and bustle of the city at night when you're ready to turn in. The whole island is only a mile wide, so its easy to walk and bike back even after partying around Duval St. or seeing the Mallory Square attractions. Papa's was closer to the nicer and quieter dinner locations on Duval, Hemingway's House, the historic lighthouse, the butterfly conservatory (which was quite impressive!), literally around the corner from the Southernmost Point, and the trolley stop (Grey line trolley was SO much better and more affordable than the Conch Train Tour-again, great advice from Fred!). Anywhere else you'd want to get to in Old Town is only a ten-minute max bike ride from your temporary Key West home at Papa's. The greatest thing about Papa's Hideaway is truly how at home you feel when you're there. The care and effort they put into the surrounding grounds outside the rooms and around the pool shows through in the beauty and comfort of your outdoor surroundings. When you are lounging around out by the pool, you are truly in a "hideaway", tucked away from anyone and anything outside. read more

What a fantastic "off the beaten path" find. The price couldn't be beat, great pool and amenities. I wish we could have stayed longer. Great, friendly folks and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do. I have stayed in my share of cookie cutter hotels and this is definately not one of them. On a quiet little street with an amazing courtyard, large room, nice privacy, full of character. We hope to come back to visit in the near future. read more

A 20-year guest is through with this place I wouldn't even be giving this one star except I couldn't leave a review if I didn't. Absolutely awful!! My husband and I have been coming here every year (sometimes 2x/year) for nearly 20 years when it was owned and managed by private innkeepers as a true bed and breakfast. It was beautiful then and had all the amenities you would like: great staff, clean and well-stocked rooms, extended continental breakfast with coffee and juice, hot tub, rental bikes, and someone always on the property to assist throughout the day and make sure the time for sunset was written on a dry-erase board outside the caretaker's cottage so we would know when to make our way to Mallory Square to watch it. We managed to see the same guests throughout our visits because they were "repeats" like us. The bonus was the location being just far enough from Duval to be quiet, but a 2-minute walk to everything fun. The property was sold by the last innkeepers about 6 years ago, and we continued to book through KW Vacation Rentals. The B&B feel, extended continental breakfast, hot tub, rental bikes, dry-erase board with sunset times, and repeat guests all disappeared. The property was still well-kept, travelers were considerate, and staff were responsive. But now the property is managed by Vacasa Management Company for a private owner and the customer service is horrible and the property is in decline. We checked in on Sunday and were scheduled to leave on Wednesday (today). It was so bad we checked out last night! Only when we checked in on Sunday was the room serviced. There was no housekeeping, no refreshing of the room, and no fresh towels in 3 days! When we called and spoke to Brandon at Vacasa (second time since we arrived), we were told housekeeping only comes every 4 days! Nowhere in any of our booking paperwork did it mention housekeeping only comes every 4th day! And the first time we called Vacasa? It was shortly after we arrived on Sunday: the property was disgusting with overflowing trash in several receptacles, guests who left their shoes and other unmentionables all over the pool deck, and hazardous waste in the poolside restroom. There were paper and plastic cups in the pool for 2 days. It definitely was apparent that cleaning staff were not on the property for several days and when someone was sent the day we arrived, it was only one person! This place has definitely become low rent even though the prices are not. Not even a box of tissues in our room and the safe was rusted and not working because a previous guest jammed it into a locked position. We couldn't change rooms because the property was booked. The guests above us didn't quit with their lead-feet all night and others with their foul mouths. The tipping point was reading a brochure on the nightstand which said: "Don't worry about stripping the beds - we've got you covered. But if you want to give our housekeepers a hand, go ahead and start a load of towels." No thanks. Will you give me a self-service discount on my stay? After 20 years, we are done. read more

This is a very very cozy little house. I'm actually staying in the garden of Eden house which is a little two bedroom house with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a full living and dining room and full kitchen. It's loaded. Nice sized gas grill and salt water pool to enjoy as well. This is my first choice when I'm in key west. read more

Clean. Quaint. Close walk to everything. #3 (For Whom The Bell Tolls) was the perfect size for two people. Really small bathroom and tiny shower. If you're overweight you may find it uncomfortable. We have recommended this place to friends. read more

Room #4. Closet smells like mold. The dehumidifier was filled to the brim with water when we checked in. I had to unplug the fridge and throw the dehumidifier on the porch at night just so I could get some sleep because the old nasty appliances made so much noise. The lights from the outside main area have to remain on (you can't turn them off) and they blasted in my room all night long. DO NOT STAY HERE. we didn't choose this place. They kicked us out of our original rental because they decided to do construction on it after we booked it. Terrible rental company. read more

On our recent (5th) visit in a row to KW, my husband and I stayed at Papa's Hideaway...very hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street and a lovely sanctuary, complete with a pool, lush gardens and Pookie the cat (if you go, give him Temptations cat treats and she'll be your friend for life!). Fred and Andrea are the coolest innkeepers and we had so much fun with them...we are planning our return to stay there again soon! read more
