When we arrived, we didn't have to wait long at reception. The check-in was quick, smooth and seamless. Parking was easy as well, there is some covered parking, but that lot was typically full. There is additional parking on site as well that is uncovered and provided easy access to get to the elevator. When we entered the room, it was bright and nice and clean, and had all the signs of a good vacation! I loved most that this hotel had a small kitchenette so that we could buy some snacks and drinks for the room. There was a full setup of plates, utensils, pans, microwave, coffee station, and a DISHWASHER!! haha, it's the little things that go a long way. The bathroom was beautifully well lit, and had a huge shower with great temperature and water pressure, and had two entrances, one from the hall and one from the bedroom. As you made your way to the bedroom, you're met with a beautiful glass sliding door that leads you out onto your own private terrace overlooking the beautiful ocean! I loved that there was nothing blocking the view, and that you could see the sunrise every morning! The beds were super comfy, my son loved the robes and slippers that came in the room, so we'd cozy up every night and watch tv! We met some great vacationers in the building as well. There is a small shop in the main lobby where you can buy drinks, snacks, and microwaveable dinners. This is also close to a lot of the stores and restaurants that you could easily walk or bike to as well. Great place to stay and would certainly stay here again on my next trip back.

Myself, my fiance and my 12 year old son and 6 year old daughter checked in on July 9, 2026. We were room #416. We walked in and the smell of mildew and mold was unmistakable. My six year old daughter immediately started coughing. In normal circumstances mold takes longer to show and the smell would not be that prominent if it was a small amount of mold or mildew. We attempted to air out the room for a few hours while driving our golf cart around town. When we got back the smell was just as bad so I went down to the front desk. The lady was very nice, which is the only decent thing I can say about this property and the employees... But I will get there to the rest and you will understand why. The front desk told me she will have the manager call me in the morning, once 11am came and I did not hear anything I called and was immediately sent to the managers voicemail which was a male. Come 1:30pm I call back for a follow up and I get transferred to the guest service relations manager where I am told no refund or partial refund can be provided since they were not able to rent the suite. Which is astounding to me they would even attempt to re-book that suite after the information I provided. The Guest Relations manager did not seem to like what I said, keep in mind the discussion was very calm and I stated I understand but this is unacceptable that we were even rented that suite to begin with. She then without telling me, transfered me to another managers voicemail where once again I requested a call back to speak with someone. On a better note, we ended up having to book another hotel the night of July 9, 2026 due to the uninhabitable conditions of this location and they were overly accommodating. We highly recommend The Galleon. They couldn't believe either they would rent us a suite like this. I guess you get what you get from being 18 hours away at booking time two months ago, but the way you treat tourists says alot about the company and employees especially when it is almost $500.00 to stay at the Laureate and come out smelling like mold. To begin with, none of the elevators were working, which meant constantly walking up and down three flights of stairs, even having to carry our 50 lb luggage up three flights of steps. This was especially frustrating given that there were no phones in the room to contact the front desk, so every question or request required a physically exhausting trip. Upon check-in, we were assigned a room that was already occupied, which was both uncomfortable and concerning. Once we were finally placed in the correct room, things didn't improve. Our room was never cleaned during our stay, and the bathtub was clogged, making it difficult to use. We had to keep going to the front desk for more towels, coffee, cups, etc. Basic amenities were also lacking. There were no ice machines or ice buckets available, and we had to go all the way to the front desk just to get pool towels and ice. By the time we got back to our room, the ice was half melted. The pool area itself was poorly maintained, fruit from nearby trees was scattered across the concrete, creating a slippery hazard that caused one guest to fall. The chairs, tables, and cabanas were filthy. The hot tub was also broken, which was one of the many reasons for choosing this place. To make matters worse, maintenance crews were leaf blowing and weed whacking around the pool for over an hour, completely disrupting what should have been a relaxing environment. The pool bartender was also unpleasant and unwelcoming, which only added to the overall negative experience. The servers were awesome and were always asking if we needed anything. Between the lack of functioning elevators, cleanliness issues, safety concerns, and poor service, this stay was incredibly frustrating and not at all what we expected. We even have a picture of a security guard sleeping on the sofa in the lobby area, one night we came home. He didn't even wake up when we went inside and were talking. I would not recommend this hotel and hope management takes these issues seriously, as significant improvements are clearly needed. The front desk workers were the only pleasant and helpful employees. The amenities this hotel claims it has, is far off from the truth.

On top of that the room is almost closet sized with an exposed shower and sink which makes it feel very humid in the room. Theres barely enough space between the bed and wall to walking into the room. The shower also hadn't been cleaned with a piece of old soap stuck to the floor and bug crawling under the pillow when i moved it.. I brought it to the attention of the man working the front desk who first told me it was a queen. The GM came on later that evening and admitted that it wasn't a queen and offered us a slightly larger rom but same size bed. Again the sink was in the room and it was stuffy and humid which made it hard to sleep more than four hours. I canceled the room after one night and tried to get my money back, but they've refused. Do not stay at this hotel. The "queen room" is basically just a hostel at hotel prices. $260 a night in my case.

Dumb rule. (we are on vacation people) The restaurant next door is convenient but not the best food. If you stay here, make sure you get pool/beach view. They do offer bikes to rent. Duval street is only a few minutes walk and there is a convenience store on United St if you need anything. Make sure you check out the Alamo Bar. So fun.

However, if I could give zero stars I would, this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I was a returning customer to this facility, but never again. We visited last July (same time of year) & everything was great. Upon our return we could not have had a worse experience. This hotel should be ashamed of the staff that they employ. Rude, dismissive and unhelpful. Being a tourist destination, hospitality should be the bare minimum and this place is a poor excuse. The staff hides in the back office instead of addressing the problems at hand. All employees also divert to Michael who was apparently management, but not available after multiple attempts of visiting the front desk. At our arrival there were bugs present in every bed. When I went to the office to report the bugs I was told these conditions are normal for Florida and there is nothing they could do except for send housekeeping in and "spray" the next day. I was told that infestations happen and maybe it won't happen the next day... but there was no way for them to know. I was laughed at when confirmed by staff that their cleaning and spraying wouldn't fix the problem. The staff even stated that this is a common occurrence for their property and that nothing would be done. I was offered a $45 refund for "daily amenity fee" from their management- Michael. What a joke, we got the amenity of free bugs in our bed. When housekeeping was sent in, sheets were changed, but there were multiple bugs still present. When I addressed the problem again I was dismissed by the office staff, who proceeded to leave the front desk and sit in the back office unless he saw other customers enter on the camera. I was offered no refund or offer to change rooms. Please think twice before ruining your vacation and booking with such an atrocious establishment.

I booked the king suite which was in the back of the hotel and I loved it. It was very large, clean, and seemed to be newly renovated. It was also very private with a full kitchen and patio. The bed was super comfortable and linens were well kept. I also liked how close it was to Duval street without being in the action. The main negative I encountered was on my first night when a humming noise woke me up in the middle of the night. Thank goodness I didn't experience this on the second night. Also, most of the reviews I read mentioned the breakfast options not being very good and they were correct. This didn't bother me much since I planned to eat out anyway. A very relaxing atmosphere - it's a resort within itself. You could park yourself here and never leave the property. The hotel itself is about a 20-25 minute walk to the downtown area of Key West. It's a great stroll and you get to see so many adorable houses along the way, as well as small restaurants/businesses tucked off of the beaten path. It's perfect. The Duval Loop shuttle stop is only a few blocks away. Super easy to get a Lyft/Uber (SUPER cheap too) if don't want to walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are accommodating and attentive. The front desk has maps, beach towels, drinks for purchase, and even a coffee station. There's also a pool with a great bar. They have a daily Happy Hour! There's ample stools and seating around the pool. There's even sunblock available in case you forgot your own. The hotel offers breakfast and we were surprised at the offerings. There's baked goods, bagels, toast, coffee, juices, cereal, fresh fruits, eggs (cooked & hard boiled), sausage patties, and yogurt. Lots of condiments are available as well. We were expecting just a quick grab and go continental breakfast, but this is so much more. The rooms are well appointed. They have a fridge, TV, coffee pot & all the necessities for that, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a chair for relaxing. They even put chairs/tables outside every room. The bed was comfortable and had nice blankets/pillows. There's also dressers and a closet available. This is a great place to come and relax after a day of enjoying Key West and doing all the things. It was great knowing we could head back and take a swim or just chill poolside. The pool closes at 10pm. Ample seating for larger parties around the pool area is available. This is a great place to get several groups of people together. Everyone has their own space, but can also enjoy being together around the pool/bar area. Again, this is a historic building so things are maintained well, but kept in their historic condition. They do have a water fountain/station and tea bags available 24/7. There's parking in front and in a small lot. There's also side streets you can park along. There's a 24/7 market located 2 blocks down that sells snacks, groceries, alcohol, and other items that you may have forgotten. They also rent bikes ($18/day) for guests. Be sure to check out the resident birds near the pool area. Would stay here again! Very happy to have found this place.

That said, I'm giving three stars because noise was a consistent issue during my stay. Rooms facing the main road pick up a steady stream of traffic noise at all hours, and the windows aren't very insulating of the noise. In addition, the pool area can get quite loud in the afternoon and evening: music, voices, and activity from guests carry into nearby units, especially those with patios overlooking the pool. Combined, the roadway and pool noise noticeably reduced the property's otherwise relaxing vibe. Not to mention it's next to the airport. Every several hours you here a jet taking off. If you're planning a stay and need quiet, ask for a room away from the road and not directly overlooking the pool (higher floors or courtyard-facing rooms may help on the quieter side).
