Service is so lovely no matter if I'm in Florence or Canon city. I would say the ambiance is cozier in Florence. We love the coffee so much we get their espresso beans to use at home. Anyway, the food: Eggs: I took one bite and barely choked it down. They were thin and dry and had a weird texture. Toast: You can't mess up toast, but it came with a tiny thing of grape jelly (barf) Chicken Fried Steak: Rather than give you a full steak like you would expect, they chopped it up into very tiny bits. I didn't count, but felt like I had less than 10 tiny bites of steak. What I got tasted okay I guess. Potatoes: About half the potatoes were very hard and undercooked. Some of the pieces were okay but after eating a few of the harder ones I just gave up on them. Gravy: The gravy was the best part of the skillet, honestly. Rich in flavor and actually warm. Service was meh. I had to wave her down to check out - after she'd walked by our table several times. We won't be back. The food wasn't worth the price, especially when you leave still hungry.

Yeah, so they raised the prices a couple bucks on all entrees BUT now you DO NOT get soup, salad or the yum yum sauce included - it is all ala carte. So that couple bucks extra is for MUCH less. If you want what you once got included you will pay +$2 per entree and then +$3.50 for the salad, +$2.50 for onion soup (the yum yum was extra too, but we didn't get it so now sure on pricing). $8 price increase for the hibachi lunch! OUTRAGEOUS!!! Now that was annoying enough, but the quality was lower too! The light japanese fried rice is now loaded down with onions (not the light leeks that once speckled it). My chicken was tough. The hubby's filet was tender, but something changed with it too because he said it just wasn't the same. The veggie mix was kind of light too and filled with bok choy - which is fine, but I don't want a pile of cabbage as my side. They do not emphasize the changes. They are simply whited out on the menu. It is a great disappointment to a once beloved place. I am sure the once or twice a year my mother comes we might stop in, but it is out of our rotation. Too expensive and not as good as it once was.

I eat at papas every time I'm through the area. That said, I must admit that I only gave them a chance because of their relativity high yelp reviews. However, I read there one star reviews for the first time today. I get it, one time, I had an odd experience, we don't eat pork, once we ordered a pizza and it came with pork. It was kinda odd to mention it, to the server. They didn't offer to remake one. It wasn't the only thing we ordered. We had drinks and ordered extra pizzas as usual, so we could have leftovers (their cold pizza is awesome if ya can't reheat). Needless to say you would think they would offer to remake the one pizza they messed up on by making it the way the pizza was listed on there menu but to be made with our request to omit pork... right? No. They didn't offer. It was a little strange, I get it. Here is the thing... they are a small buisness. I read a few one star reviews that Tom ( the owner) responded to and offered replacement items and apologized. Good on you Tom! He even owned the one where he was the cook that particular night and was " the cook" that made the blunder! Tom... Well played! You ate that and that's ok. Why? Because your a little small town restaurant. You're not corporate, you're a business that is thriving and making a go of it in Florence Colorado! Good on ya! Keep it up! Make a mistake once in awhile, have your servers not know how to Handel it. Why don't they know how to handle it? Because it doesn't happen often that's why. So if ya want it remade, maybe ask to have it remade. Why? Because I'm sure if ya leave a one star review (and it is legit), Tom will offer you a free (whatever was messed up item anyway). So, just ask. Don't leave a crap review for one of the few small town businesses that are hitting home runs at 4.3 out if 5 stars. These guys are the dwindling few who try, but mess up occasionally. My husband and I tried this restaurant in Florence, and were very pleased. It was a slow night as far as customers went, as we were the only ones who dined in, but a few people picked up take out. The pizza was SO GOOD. The garlic knots were very garlicky, but still very good. Our server was very attentive, and quick to ask if we wanted another beer. The inside of the restaurant is very eclectic, with lots of cool old things to look at. We really liked the feel of the place. We were even offered a cinnamon roll for a review, which I promptly forgot to do. It's been probably over a month since we were there, and I feel terrible about that. A great little pizza spot. It offers a very enjoyable atmosphere to sit and spend time with friends. There's a variety of cold beers on tap to pair with the generous and tasty pizza. The staff was welcoming and made an effort to provide good service, even though the place was bustling. The pizza was tasty and well-made, and the salad was fresh and pleasant. This is one of the most fun, casual and delicious restaurants in Fremont County. The service was awesome! The owner even came out to greet us and make sure everything was going smoothly. They have an awesome projector screen they were showing Harry Potter on at the time and it is probably the best pizza I have had in years. Will definitely be coming back. read more
