Love this restaurant! Love the food and that it's right on the lake! You can sit inside or outside, but in my opinion, if you're sitting inside, you're missing out on the great view on the patio! The very first impression of this business is the Castle itself on a lake. This restaurant has changed ownership during the years a few times. We decided to try it out now. Of course with the thought in mind of helping our local businesses and restaurants. To be honest Mexican food is not my favorite, but the other person with us enjoys it. So why rain on their parade. We sat down in the back with a nice view of Lake Erie. Orders were placed and I ordered something simple (rice with retried beans). All of the food tasted very good. The server was so kind, it felt like I was at a friends house for lunch. People were sitting in the back patio taking in the nice view of the lake. Inside there are two bars in different sections. Not sure if there was an additional bar or not. The decorations and wall are colorful. We are thinking that in the future when things get better it would make for a meeting place with friends and family. Until that time let's help keep them open. read more

Standard: free chips and salsa. Mexican draft beer, $4.25. $10-12 Lunch specials: definitely enough food for you to feel full. The fajitas were decent, not the best I've ever had, but more like standard fare. Try the chicken soup, it's a good deal and surprising - one of the menu highlights. The regular menu prices looked a little higher than I expected, but not by much. Food was very good with generous portions. Service not so much. Waiter sat in the corner on his phone. He never stopped to see if everything was all right. We ran out of salsa and needed re fills on our drinks. Finally when we had to ask for the check he asked if we wanted anything else. When he brought the check the change was a 10.00 bill and 4 ones. The tip would be around 8.00. I had to go to the bar to get change. The service was not worth 10.00 tips. This place is not near my home so it is a ride to get to it. We came here on suggestion from our air b n b. We had been at cedar point all day and we were exhausted, but it was my birthday, so I still wanted to go out. It looks like a Mexican castle! I loved the ambiance! We sat on the patio and watched the sun set on Lake Erie. We were served quickly and on Mondays we got $2.99 margaritas! Score! Chips and queso came out quickly and the atmosphere was just perfect and romantic. The menu was smaller than I'm used to at a median restaurant, but we both chose the steak burrito. I wasn't expecting this giant beast, but it was perfect because we had leftovers for the next day! They were full of rice and steak and other toppings and I was very very pleased! I came with a group of 10 women and we picked a night when the air conditioning was tworking due to a recent power outage. It was really uncomfortable, but we had no choice but to stay. This was my first time under new management and the menu was very extensive. We had 1 server who did an amazing job with the orders. Of course everyone wanted their own check but he kept all the drinks and dinners organized and correct. Amazing! I had a combination platter which was a beef taco and 2 beef enchiladas with rice only for me. Everything tasted great at the time and I ate everything. A few hours later, my body decided it didn't like that food. Prices were decent, and the margaritas were good. If you pay cash they give you a 10% discount. Returned August 2019 with a group of 4. Were able to sit outside because it was beautiful. Others commented on the outside area needing trimmed and weeding and I agree. The views are beautiful, but spruce it up a bit. I ordered a medium margarita, which was large, but it was way too green for me and not much alcohol. The enchilada supreme was 5 different enchiladas and all were very good. Very disappointing. I was excited to taste the food here. The outside of the restaurant looked amazing. The back had an outside eating area that over looked the water. The view must look great at sunset. I ordered a Miami Vice. A drink that I've gotten before that hardly anyone carries. You got chips and salsa while you waited. The salsa was delicious. Not spicy at all. The waitress said it's made in house daily. I sat inside and watched the views of the water along with people watching. I ate two bowls of chips and watched people get served their food before me when they were seated well after me. I never got to taste the food. After almost a hour of waiting for my food I left. It was very frustrating for me and the people with me. After a long day of work I got subway and sat on the couch. The restaurant wasn't not even busy. This is about my experience and not the food or drinks. I came here to buy a gift certificate for a birthday party. This is one of my friends favorite places to go. So I wanted to buy the a GC to someplace they like. I walked in and had to wait a bit. The gentleman who walked up - I told him I wanted a GC. He repeated my request and told me he doesn't know and had to go ask his manager. I said fine. He left then disappeared for 10 mins. 2 people came in. He appeared and took the 2 people to their seats and told me - I can't find my manager. I said ok so what does that mean? I can't get a GC? No one can help me? What? He said I will look again. Another 5 mins go by. I've been in here for at least 15 mins trying to buy just a GC. Finally a Manager comes up to help me. I get a GC and go This was way more complicated then it needed to be. And not very obliging to wanting to do business with them. I totally got turned off and would not eat there. read more

READ!!! ONLY DRINK BEER HERE After visiting numerous Mexican restaurants and reviewing over the past 4 days, we determined Pappasito's has decent food and terrible margaritas. Everybody in my party blew into a recently calibrated breathalyzer prior to entering the restaurant. We had a couple beers apiece at the previous restaurant and decided we were going to come in here and test the strength of the margaritas. Our BAC levels never increased! After drinking approximately half of a pitcher per couple, we determined there was not any alcohol in the margarita picture. We ordered the best pitcher they offer. A manager attempted to assist us by telling us her margaritas may not have as much tequila as we would like or prefer but there is definitely tequila in them. We waited it out for a while at the restaurant to see I've the tequila would set I. And show up and did not drink anymore. Our BAC levels continued to decline and they never went up even once after drinking half of that picture. I offered to the manager the idea that maybe since they pre-make all of their margarita mixes, they forgot to put tequila in. The manager proceeded to tell me that she made the mixes and she also confirmed their most expensive margarita is also a premade margarita. In the end, the manager did refund the money for the margarita but ($27.99) I would be sure to only order beer here when drinking. read more

I've always heard the measure of a good Mexican restaurant is it's salsa. Well, the salsa here is like chunky ketchup. No flavor, no seasoning, and no spice. So my initial rating would be one star. I'm sharing pics of cheese enchiladas, taco salad, and chicken fajitas. The enchiladas were subpar. Tortillas were hard, bland cheese, sauce tasted like it was from a can. Taco salad was served with chicken when beef was ordered. 2 meals came 30 minutes later. Definitely not west coast Mexican food with full flavor. Service was slow and waitress was rude. Outdoor singer performing was awesome. But limited shade on the patio. And with waitress poor service, we got up to go to find any staff to refill our waters. Do not recommend this place. read more

Wow, what a disappointment! Sorry this will be long. My wife and I were in the Avon Lake area and looking for a place to eat on the way home. Of course, Yelp is my go to :). Found this place and we LOVE, Mexican food so decided to try it. We saw on the 2 most recent reviews, Papasitos changed owners, so never know how the experiences will be. At the first look, the outside looked near, like a small castle. Then once inside, not as appealing, as it was slightly dated. We chose to sit outdoors with wonderful weather. The view of the lake was nice, but the weeds growing around the deck, no so much. The patio had around 25 tables and could be pushed together for a larger group. We ordered guacamole and drinks. The guac was prob some of the best we've had. It took a long time to get it though. We selected our entrees, then it was down hill from there. We waited, and waited and oh.....waited some more. 50 min went by from when we placed our order. NEVER in a Mexican restaurant have we waited so long. We even asked were our food was and got the ol "the kitchen is backed up and they were busy". We looked around and yes the patio was full, but the inside was not. We sat there so long, 3 separate severs tried to take our salsa and chips because they thought we were done. WRONG, haven't seen our food at this point. Finally we saw what we believed to be our food come out. The food runner dropped off 2 plates to another table first, the took a tour of the patio trying to figure out who ordered what he had left. We saw the lack of organization all evening as we saw food taken around from table to table trying to figure out who it belonged to. As for the meal itself, my wife had taco salad, that was just ok. Not much meat in it. I had Veraria Special, that had chicken, shrimp and onions grilled and served in a pineapple, topped with bacon and cheese. Looked good, but I could tell it had sat awhile. It was not hot like Mexican food normally is. The beans and rice on the side were completely cold. Down under the top of the pineapple was warm, but wouldn't say hot. We never saw our waiter past taking our order. No drink refills, I asked a passerby worker for more salsa that we never got. Asked another waiter for our check and that never came either. Finally we went up front to ask for our check and they had no idea. Another sever (maybe assistant manager) came up and stepped in to help. She printed a check for us, but wasn't ours. We then proceeded to tell here about the experience and how poor the service was. We even saw other patrons having issues with no food or wrong food. We found out our waiter went to help in the kitchen. Would have been nice to know. Needless to say we won't be back and advise others to shy away. To many other choices out there. They did take 50% off the bill, but does t make up for the poor experience. read more
