Update! This time (given we are now fully vaccinated) we ventured indoor here for another meal. Wow...soooo much better when it is hot and fresh! We shared a bowl of soup, scarfed down their chips and salsa then each had our own dinner meal. The chicken soup with rice had an oniony broth and was full of tender shredded chicken. My wife's dinner huarache with veggies and green sauce (which she loves) would have been better with steak or chicken, not just an all-veggie version. I had the tinga poblana made with smokey shredded chicken braised in chipotle seasoning and served with potatoes, tomatoes, onions and sour cream. Portions were big enough to take some home and we each had a lunch meal for the next day! Cheap beer specials, warm service and fantastic food...what else could you possibly need?!?!?

Went to celebrate my daughter and my sisters birthday, with a couple family and friends. Everything was great from the salsa to the chips, margaritas , and the Dinners were perfect! I'm so sorry I didn't take pictures. I had my favorite, chile rellenos with rice and beans. Delicious

Waitress was lovely. Authentic, except the queso (thick and lumpy) and pre-made margaritas (like drinking a huggie.)

    Tinga Poblana....my favorite!

One of the BEST authentic Mexican restaurants in Cleveland. We've been going to Villa y Zapata for 20+ years. Everything on the menu is great...but if you can pull yourself away from the traditional fare such as the burritos and tacos and order some of their tasty authentic entrees, you'll be in for a real treat! Try the Chile Rellenos, Tinga Poblana or the piping hot Fajitas! The margaritas are pretty fantastic as well. Villa y is family owned and the service is great!

Open for dine in during Covid, and everyone is extremely serious about your safety. Masks, sanitizer, menus cleaned between guests, the works. Being off the beaten path, this is one of the very very few places I am always comfortable eating with my family. It's never crowded. But this also worries me, because if my precious Villa Y Zapata were no more I would lose a piece of personal history. 30 years guys. I've been coming here and celebrating, lamenting, throwing on that ridiculous sombrero, and just simply relishing in the comfort only a favorite restaurant can bring. Both of my kids are on the wall. The staff know my phone number and my family and it's precious. So please skip the chains and give these guys a try. You may see me here. Say hi, I'll buy you a margarita.

Mom and pop restaurant with personable service. Once we were inside we helped ourselves to the seat as no one was there to greet. The salsa and chips were tasty, especially the salsa. The portion size for the entree was huge. Shrimp tacos were good, didn't care for the mashed beans. Tequila chicken with jalapeños was delicious. The alcohol is priced cheap and the double margarita was a humongous hangover inducing portion and be prepared to take Advil to avoid a headache the next day.

Service was a bit dry and in welcoming I felt like I was more of a bother than a customer.

Great selection. Friendly staff. The best margaritas! Wish the decor could be updated but none the less, it's a great local spot.

We discovered Amigos a couple years ago, when seating was very limited, but they recently expanded and the decor is more inviting and authentic. We've tried a lot of things on this menu and have never been disappointed. Our food has always been fresh and plentiful, served with a smile. Two things I can ecstatically recommend: their house guacamole and their margaritas. Their hearty and bold guacamole is made fresh to order right at your table and it's become our favorite guacamole. We love their mango margaritas. We have found chunks of mango in ours, and make certain to always get the rims coated with tajin because they use tamarind to get the spice to stick to the rim--so tasty! This is a really enjoyable restaurant we always look forward to visiting!

The most unexpected thing however was how much seasoning and flavor they used on their chicken and other meats. Absolute game changer. The restaurant was clean and while was packed, had enough space to move around and you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of each other. Our waitress was very friendly and brought us a round of Tequila which was new to me. Overall I will definitely be back.

It was very busy and we were told there is a 30 minute wait. Not much else in the area so we hung out by the bar and got seated sooner than expected. The first floor is more casual with bar seating and high top tables. The second floor is more formal dining tables. You'll need to climb stairs (did not see an elevator). I was a bit skeptical if we'd have enough options as vegetarians, but was pleasantly surprised at how full we got from all the items we ordered! The guacamole trio, flautas, remolacha, salsa and chips, and drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday and I asked staff (maybe a manager) if they do anything to celebrate. He mentioned they have a fried ice cream and can put a candle in it. I hadn't confirmed what dessert we planned to order, but before I knew it they came around with the fried ice cream and candle. So, we got to try that. Overall, good food.
