It's a mini boutique craft store and the Fairfax location is one of my favorites. You can find all the school supplies, cool totes, some bags, limited clothing items and even sewing kits here. While they don't carry sewing machine or any kind of small office/craft room furniture they have more than you can imagine even some plants on occasion. The employees here are friendly, mindful, and helpful. They have great deals in the store as well as online for a lot of cool DIY, seasonal and special occasion needs. I stop in once in a full moon to seek out birthday presents, novelty items and and sales on arts and craft supplies when I'm feeling extra creative. Easy parking in a shared lot with Mendocino Farms, Trader Joe's a miscellaneous others on the westside of Fairfax Avenue/3rd Street via Gilmore Station - which is also apart of the Original Farmer's Market directly across the street. This place has my heart!! As an amateur crafter (card making‍) I love the ease their paper bar offers. Yes, I have a ton of different weighted papers and could easily make my own cards but there's just something about having pre-made cards and envelopes at the ready. The staff here clearly loves what they do, as well. Always friendly and they never miss an opportunity to greet me whenever I pop in. This store is in a prime location by farmers market which is why I think it's still in business. Paper stores like Papyrus have gone by the wayside even dating before COVID. There's stuff besides paper products here, mostly gag gifts and related stuff like books, mugs, planners, etc. You're bound to find something in here but it'll cost ya. I am aware brick and mortar shops have to charge more but I do kinda expect someone to acknowledge me while I'm in the store if that's the case. Oh well. Might've just missed the one customer who planned on writing a review. I like the selection but can't see paying twenty bucks for a pack of ten cards. Yes they're cute, but everyone is suffering in this economy. I might as well just buy ten individual greeting cards at that price. There's markups and then there's just too expensive. This spot is too expensive to me. I hope it stays in business but I just don't have the extra dough for non necessities. I went there during the holidays. They didn't really have much of a variety. I was looking for some Jewish Hanukkah cards. They had a small selection that was pretty nice for $15 -20 wow l should make my own that's per card double the price they were only 2 customers in the store. I didn't received any customer service l didn't see any one for help,I proceeded to go to the cash register, the lady cashier was nice to the customer she was helping, My turn she refused to acknowledge me didn't want to address me by any means necessary she was disgusted l was in the store l get it ! I live in the neighborhood and I've been coming here on and off for years. It's always been a fine experience but the last few times, have been marked by the rude, condescending and passive aggressive behavior of one employee, Jackie. In the past I've been ignored by her, received curt non-answers to questions and just been given the cold shoulder. Went in today and she gave me wrong information on a box's measurements then disdainfully slapped down a tape measure when I asked if they had one. Overall, she continued to be ridiculously hostile, passive aggressive and unhelpful. I understand not everyone wants to work with the public but her loathing of people who come into the store is palpable and she makes sure that you leave feeling as miserable as she is. Terrible experience. You can find the same stuff cheaper online. I came in and the 2 girls at the desk where the most unprofessional , rude , immature and childish employees. What happened to customer service? Sad because this was right to the street and used to enjoy coming in but will no longer support this place. This store has great products, although incredibly expensive. They have so many pretty wrapping papers and stationary to wrap a gift beautifully. I've been going to this store for a while and have always had overall pleasant experiences. But there's always a sense of arrogance from employees. I look young for my age and profession -I am a nurse- and am treated without a certain level of respect I see them give other customers. I will give them kudos for following decent safety protocols, besides their staff VIOLATING people's personal space. My brother visited the store for the first time and he was met with an even lower sense of respect- a sales associate snatched wrapping paper rolls out of hands. This is during a pandemic, mind you, so the violation of personal space is completely inexcusable. Also, she proceeded to ASK another customer if they wanted to have her take his wrapping paper rolls to the front. She then proceeded to follow my brother to around the store, or perhaps the better word is stalking. The same sales associate came so close to us as we were browsing and led another customer through our path with no excuse or politeness. Their products are nice - albeit INCREDIBLY overpriced- but after this experience, they no longer have my business. *When calling the manager the next day, he was incredibly dismissive and essentially pushed my complaint aside. I am a huge fan of pretty stationary/cards/paper and Paper Source is definitely one of my favorites, in addition to Papyrus and some of the local spots I go to in LA. I stopped by today to look at some custom invitations. They offer a huge selection and have examples on the wall for inspiration. The staff was incredibly helpful and answered all my questions. They were all so nice and friendly too!! For custom invitations, make sure to make an appointment! The turnaround is approx 1 month! So plan ahead and don't procrastinate like me. Yes, it can be pricey but you get what you pay for. The cards/invitations are very high quality and fancy, which I love! I'll probably make an appointment and return once I'm ready. Since the Gilmore Station only has one hour free with validation, I rarely stop at Paper Source since TJ's, Mendocino Farms, or Peet's are my priorities. They have cute seasonal and holiday display tables that provide great gift ideas. As the name suggests, it's a great stop for paper and stationary. I tend to browse than buy anything. I always check the sale and clearance section which includes 50% off items. I love mason jars that I could not resist buying a six pack of blue pint sized jars for $7 which are about $12 elsewhere. Small store but there's a lot in it! One wall consists of cover letter paper (10 sheets/pack for $3.50-6), regular text paper, envelopes, etc. in a spectrum of colors. Another wall is filled with an assortment of handmade cards. I walked in with an idea and a question. None of the staff noticed me perusing around the store with a quizzical expression, but as soon as I flagged someone down, I got all the help I needed. Luciana took my idea and ran with it. I came here looking for envelopes and thank you cards to send to an interviewer and found exactly what I needed. The staff was super helpful and gave me his insight on good color combinations, and was very patient with me even though I was taking ages to decide what I wanted. He also volunteered information on which colors (the darker ones) would require me to use a white/different colored pen to write on. They have a huge range of plain cardstock and envelope sizes and colors to suit your every need! Even if you aren't super crafty, I find that picking a thoughtful color combination stands out a lot more than getting a pre-made card. I also want to thank the staff for letting me sit at the shop to finish writing my thank you cards!! There is a USPS postal office right across the street too so you can mail your cards there if needed. I'd recommend coming here over buying pre-made cards for any occasion. They also offer card designing sessions if you are looking to customize a set of cards for wedding invites, birthday parties etc! read more

Just left the store and I give it a very poorly earned C-. I was greeted upon entry and it pretty much ended there. Any question I asked was just a regurgitation of what I already knew. The associate whose name starts with a B, was quick with her short answers--which I guess is fine, but yeah. Me: "Do you have this book in a sample?" Her: "No we don't" /End-Scene She also seemed slightly annoyed when I asked her about the stationery. Again, whatevs. Then I asked an older woman about the colors of pens...again, the rude associate standard answer: "Everything we have is on the shelf". Oh well. I was getting tired of the tone of responses. It makes people seem unknowledgeable and looks bad overall. Overall I spent maybe an hour in the store since I love stationery and cutesy things, and I think it's the only kind of place close to where I am. As far as the selection, it's cool and expensive (normal), but they don't sell pens/fountain pens so don't come here looking. Kicker: Not 45 minutes after leaving the store, the paper bag's handle broke off, the bag spontaneously combusted and all my cute goodies fell all over the ground. I went back to the store (closed for a few minutes by now) and knocked; I showed the associate my busted bag through the window, and she came and opened the door a crack and handed me a new bag. Like she was doing me a favor! Cracking that door pissed me off, so I told her they needed a new manufacturer. She simply said "sorry". Because the staff was so blah and rude I will not be returning. Used to love this place but have repeatedly encountered rude customer service by the employees. I also bought a candle from them today and unfortunately it fell out of my bag in the parking lot and shattered. I asked them if there was anything they could do about it and the manager was cold, distant and said there was nothing she could do. I totally understand her side but also would have loved to hear an inkling of empathy. As someone that was in retail management for years, I find this surprising and disappointing. I don't expect a free replacement, but I would have happily bought another had they offered a discount (nothing huge just something) but all she said was "there's nothing we can do". I buy all my cards here and even though they are pricey, I think it's worth it for a thoughtful greeting. This location is a little smaller than the other locations I have been to. They have a pretty limited selection of cards with what seems like 50% of their stock being "thank you" cards. However, they have a decent selection of gift-wrap and calendars.
