Selling Birria Tacos as their highlight, Papi got us excited to try. We had it for to go, but they did provide dine-in space should you prefer. Our order was initially inputted wrongly, but took them seconds to get it corrected (really appreciated!). We got the OG plate, which is basically one of each taco, quesotaco, mulita, and quesadilla. We can only choose one protein so all of them will carry same toppings. We went for birria and were pleased by how flavorful and tender the meat was. Toppings were generous and varied as well with big avocado slices! The only one that we were just okay with was the consome, whose texture was bit thin for our liking. We got extra keto taco, which basically used grilled cheese base instead of tortilla; very unique and equally palatable! read more

I was excited to return to the original Jefferson location after their recent return to the neighborhood. This time I ordered through Postmates - birria OG box with avocado and a Pollo Asado taco. Order arrived and once again I was disappointed. My box was missing the avocado I paid extra for, and I received a carne asada taco instead of the pollo asado taco I ordered. The carne asada was not good - tough & not much flavor. The birria was good, would've been better with the avocado I ordered. I did receive my consommé this time (see prior review). I contacted Postmates since that's the usual protocol in these situations. Their customer service was not helpful at all, so I reached out directly to the restaurant. They apologized but offered no other solution except to direct me back to Postmates. The whole ordeal left me frustrated & very hesitant to give this restaurant another chance. Ultimately, it was the restaurant that messed up my order, not Postmates. Fun fact #1: my courier messaged me asking what meats I ordered. I told him birria for the box and chicken for the separate taco. The restaurant still didn't get it right. Fun fact #2: in my prior review, they forgot to put my consommé in the bag. I'm back y'all, with another review So boom picture this: I've been wanting to try this place for a minute and was just waiting on the right opportunity to take my talents over there. My aunt and I were headed to a pottery class and what do you know? This spot was right down the street. God is good I ordered the O.G. Burrito with beef birria, a churro with ONLY dulce de leche (because I know myself), and washed it all down with a lime soda. Now let's talk about the burrito. The flavor? THERE. The meat was juicy, seasoned, and tender But baby... the tortilla gave up on me halfway through. Completely folded under pressure I ended up opening it up and eating it like a bowl, so next time I probably won't order that again. Next visit I'm fa sho trying the O.G. Ramen. The churro though? Oh she did her job The restaurant itself gives more takeout vibes, but they do have a few tables out front on the sidewalk and a patio area in the back for extra seating. I'm a big Papi Tacos fan and love how its halal! Best halal Mexican by far now! This location has a big patio out in the back and the food tasted really fresh. I always get the OG plate and the chicken was more flavorful and the brisket was also delicious! I placed my order to go, the person said 5 minutes but got my order 15 minutes later, no big deal though since that's what i expected. What can I say. This location is superior to the others by far. Went in on a Wednesday after a hard 10 hour shift working. walking up felt very comforting. The entire vibe/ambiance of the place just gave myself the feeling that the food was going to be phenomenal, and I wasn't wrong. When ordering I asked this cute cashier for their OG plate and Birria Ramen. The customer service was absolutely terrific and my food was out and in my hands in under 10 minutes. Off of first looks the food looked very appetizing and indefinitely edible. Taking the first bite out of my Quesadilla felt like god just slapped me on my tongue with the heavens itself. I just couldn't stop. It was so good. I think in total it took me about 15 minutes to finish everything. That's how amazing this food is. Also, they give you the tacos themselves but no sides besides consume which I felt didn't justify the cost. I was looking for birria tacos in LA and this was the first one to pop up on my search. I went on Thursday at 2pm and there was no line, just a couple of people. I ordered the OG plate which comes with 1 taco, 1 quesataco, 1 mulita, 1 quesadilla, & 1 consome soup for 12.99! You have the choice between beef and chicken. I also got the birria tacos with a consome (free if you check-in on yelp)! I also got an order of churros original. The OG plate was very underwhelming, its a really good deal, but honestly I'd just stick with ordering a ton of the birria tacos. The birria tacos however, were SO juicy, flavorful, and dipped in the consome it was a match made in heaven. I think I could've had about 10 of them... thought about going back and ordering more. With the lime and the hot sauce, the tacos + soup was so perfect. The churros were a perfect way to finish off the meal, but wish I had gotten nutella or chocolate drizzled on it! Such a huge fan of Papi Tacos & Churros! It's so awesome to see this place doing so well, as when we went, I believe they had opened recently! Their menu features burritos, tacos, quesadillas, combo plates and even veggie options. We ordered their OG Plate, which came with a taco, quesataco, mulita, quesadilla, and consomé, which they use a 16-hour cooked beef birria). No joke - forget about the other overhyped trucks that feature birria, as Papi Tacos' is the real deal! The way that they prepare each of the items, you can tell that a lot of love went in them. The flavors are so savory and so delicious, they can't be beat! And, that consomé? So on point and just mind-blowing when you dip them tacos! We couldn't pass up on their churros, which they make from scratch and served piping hot - you can opt for dulce de leche, chocolate, or Nutella to drizzle them off. We got them plain, and these churros were one of the best I've had - not too dense but the perfect amount of chew and air-iness; these were coated with the perfect amount of the sugar mixture! Was on a recent quest to try the infamous birria tacos of LA. Ordered the OG plate, plus an extra 3 birria tacos. OG plate consisted of a taco, quesataco, and quesadilla, but to be honest all tasted the same, just in different 'shapes'. A little underwhelming, though maybe our fault for ordering them all with birria. But would be nice to have a tad more variety and distinction among the three. (Late review, my visit was from before COVID-19) Overall great food, but service was very subpar. I got the birria quesotaco and mulita with the free consome you get with yelp check in, and both were soooo bomb. The birria had the perfect flavor and there was a decent amount of it in the quesotacos. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the mulita. I don't know why it hits different compared to the tacos, but biting into the layers of tortilla, cheese, and meat brings you to heaven. Like I said, food was amazing but service was mediocre. Even though at some point I only ordered one mulita (since I went back for more after my tacos), it took like 20 minutes to get it even though there wasn't a whole lot of customers there. :/ My friends experienced the same thing, all of them had to wait a loooong time for their food even though they ordered only 1-2 things. Not a lot of people but soon after we ordered and got our food, a few groups of customers stopped in, I surely didn't want to be that group that showed up when they closed! :) We wanted churros and Papi (lol), did not disappoint. $2.99 for 2 churros (sugar) and add sauces for $.99 (Nutella, Tres Leches or Chocolate). They fried it immediately as ordered so they were super fresh and delicious and of course, authentic. It's good and we should have ordered more! Their tacos dorado (fried taco) was yummy as well. They had it with birria (the shredded beef one, I think). Added a couple of slice of avocado for extra. Came here because LA Birria was no where to be found. This place is a bit different. They give you the beef with the consommé in a cup (small or large) and the tortilla on the side. When we went, they said that the large would come with 3 tortillas per order however, when we got home, we were only give 2 tortillas per order. Huge bummer. The consommé and the beef were delicious with a bit of kick. I honestly could eat the meat and consommé alone. We also got the og plate to give all their options a try. Basically it is the same thing as the Birria but it comes with the meat inside and some items have cheese in them. Parking is street only. read more

The staff is friendly and nice. We ordered the OG to try everything, extra consume, and more quesotacos. Overall the beef was a bit dry so you really should dip in the consume. So I was super optimistic about this spot. All the tacos look beautiful and everyone says how good it is. What I noticed is that there were no pictures of the vegetarian options. Now, I've never heard of a taco with radish, carrots, and onions. Because this was so unique, I was hella intrigued. That red shell with veggies?!? Sure it was going to be bomb. I was...wrong lol. I ordered the VegaQueso and the Veggie taco. Both were trash, and that's no shade. They didn't hit the spot the way a mushroom or potato does. They were just...flat. The shells were your standard tortilla so they was slightly disappointing. It seems like they felt like they were obligated to have a vegetarian option and wanted to be different, but didn't really flesh it out. I would never buy that again lol. The churros were alright. Crisp and fluffy with the right amount of sweet. Somehow they were still just...eh. I ordered a Pollo taco for a friend and he said it may be the best taco he's ever had. Oh my god! I absolutely love this place! It's a bit of a drive for me but the red tacos and consommé are totally worth it. Definitely get the OG plate which comes with birria taco, quesotaco, mulita and consommé. There is a bit of a wait and I would recommend placing an order online but it's soooooooo worth it. I've tried birria tacos with consommé elsewhere before and it's not the same. Once you get it here, you can't go back to anything else. The broth is so flavorful and it legit makes me want to just drink it. For some people, the OG plate alone is enough but because it tastes so delicious, I am always craving for more even after I'm done. I think next time I'll just add something else to my order. Amazing tacos that are super worth the wait!!! I was on a mission to try out birria tacos in LA and found this place via Yelp. I went around 7pm on a weekday night and this place was popping! I got 3 beef tacos: quesotaco, mulita, keto taco (cheese shell). By checking into Yelp, I got a free consome (dipping soup). As a big cheese fan, I really really enjoyed the quesotaco and the keto taco. The quesotaco had the right amount of gooey cheese to beef to tortilla. Radiating very strong corn flavors, the tortilla were soft and never got stale or mushy in the end. The keto taco was basically a taco made with a cheese shell - which was absolutely wonderful for cheese lovers like me - but I felt like it didn't complement the dipping soup. The mulita was basically meat between two fried tortilla. It ended up being little hard/too crunchy for me. One thing I do wish is that they put more onions/cilantro in their tacos. The beef was super flavorful and well-seasoned. It was tender and cooked nicely. The consome was very tasty! It wasn't too salty and added another layer to the tacos. I was able to drink some of it after. Make sure to give it a good stir before you start dipping your tacos though! Their salsa was also fire!! Yes, it was on the spicier side but its straight up "pepper paste" and went super well with the keto taco in my opinion. Three tacos were definitely enough for me (vs the OG plate, which has 4 different items, including a quesadilla, would have been too much food). But price wise, you might need to mix and match to optimize what you want. I also got the churros which were also super bomb: crunchy on the outside and moist/soft on the inside! The sugar and cinnamon seasoning were pretty standard but good ~ The wait was a little long (25-30 mins) but the food was SO WORTH IT! To skip the line tho, be sure to order online!! [ COVID TAKE OUT REVIEW ] It was my first time having birria tacos and I'm so glad that this place was my first experience for them. The first time I came here was so good that it left me thinking about when will be the next time I come back to try out the rest of their menu haha. So it was my s/o first time trying birria tacos and he was so glad I recommended this place because he also fell in love with their consome. We got a beef mulita (it wasn't really that great and could use more cheese), 4 beef quesatacos (fantastic as usual), O.G. Beef burrito (it was huge and so thick! It was packed with meat and was so tender and also came with consome), and churros with chocolate and dulce leche drizzle (quite expensive and small but still good). Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to try birria tacos for the first time or a place for good consome! Also, to all my spicy lovers out there, get the red sauce if they don't give it out to you because it is so good. OG plate (4/5): The flavor hits you on the first bite, and wow, the birria is tasty. The plate includes taco, quesataco, mulita, and quesadilla, and I will say that most of them tasted very similar. The consomé dip was a good addition, but I didn't use it much given how flavorful the birria was. Portion sizes are generous, and the OG plate is easily enough for 2 meals. I wish there was a little bit more cilantro, onions, radish, and lime on the side to lighten out the plate.
