Stopped in during a music festival. We sat at the bar and we were served quickly. The restaurant back in the spring had a very open layout, so the inside was pretty hot. They have a patio on the boardwalk as well as inside tables & lots of bar seats. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and our favorites were the chilli cheese fries and the crab dip. Loved our server! Super attentive. I was surprised how big it was inside and they had live music. Would for sure eat here again. I was indecisive and not too hungry so I had a burger but I was jealous of others scallops and shepherds pie. I would have gotten shepherds pie but worried it would have been too heavy. First visit to Ocean City, MD and we found this this great Irish pub Wed 6/04/25 6pm. Shenanigan's is a big pub with indoor & outdoor seating. We sat at the bar and were greeted by the barman, Alexander who was very friendly with all. First drinks were of course a Guinness ($8.75)-a perfectly poured Imperial pint (20oz) & a pinot grigio ($7.50). Appetizer of the day was crab tots ($13.50)-6 perfectly crispy outside w/ tender juicy crab inside, w/ remoulade sauce & mine w/ a dash of Tabasco. Dinner choices were Sheila Kane's seared scallops w/ creamy sweet pea risotto ($34). Perfectly prepared scallops & an excellent risotto-chef's kiss & Maryland crab soup, an East Shore favorite, big bowl ($9). Very big menu with emphasis on fresh seafood & Irish pub favorites. Open 11am-11pm everyday during the summer. Live music most every day. Parking lot nearby, very accessible by public transit & walking via the Boardwalk. A fun & friendly place. My friends and I have made a point to visit this Shenanigans location for many years as part of our annual beach trip. It's been a fun stop to grab a drink. Unfortunately, I cannot longer recommend this place to stop by. The bartenders are unprofessional. When they gave an espresso martini to a customer, they also drank some in a cup. If they are on the clock, they should not be drinking. If they are, they also are still expected to be doing their job professionally. I witnessed a situation where the customer had not gotten their card back and the bartenders were not only placing blame on the customer but also dismissed this person. They proceeded to cater to other patrons without taking care of the matter in a timely manner. They also claimed that they gave the card back but when they finally, actually looked into it, the card was by the till. Not that the "customer is always right", but the mannerisms and attitude these bartenders had was rude. They needed to admit they made a mistake. We will not be back. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love the Smithwicks on tap! The short rib grilled cheese sandwich is amazing. We also tried the pretzel with crab. Food was good. It was bar food, but it was good food. Service was decent. The waitress was very busy, but she was reasonably attentive and she was very nice. Not necessarily a place I would seek out for a quiet sit-down dinner if it was in the town where I lived, but it was a very good option in the heart of the boardwalk if you want to get a bit of a break from the sensory overload. We stopped at Shenanigans on the boardwalk on a Saturday night and were delightfully surprised. The beer prices were refreshingly cheap, which was a nice bonus. My daughter ordered the hot chicken fried sandwich, and it was cooked perfectly--crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My wife went with the fish tacos, and they were massive, definitely generous portions. I had the bratwurst with onions and peppers, and it hit the spot. The biggest perpetrator of any shenanigans were the flies... gathered in their masses... on the rim of our beer glasses... the staff was kind and took instruction... against flies we sought injunction... on the beach the bodies (sun) burning.... flies on my food was so unnerving! The great Ozz was known to snort ants and bite bats, but I certainly don't want to consume insects, which is why Shenanigan's needs to do something about the flies. I get that we're on the beach and there are critters abound, but... just a Shot in the Dark... a couple of powerful fans will do a world of difference. We made comments about the no less than 5 flies at any given time on our table, darting quickly to land on our food for a quick bite, then zoom off, and the very kind staff offered to move us inside... but that defeats the purpose of eating on the boardwalk at the beach. We could easily find indoor seating at a restaurant a block off the sand on Baltimore Ave... and we did for our subsequent meals. The food was perfectly fine for a beachfront, pour-you-a-pint, and enjoy the sun and scene while donning flip-flops and shades. As a place to have a beer on the boardwalk... it's great. As a place to eat... no. Definitely no. Our party consisted of three adults. None of them were pickey eaters, all from Maryland, all capable cooks. Besides an appetizer, all three meals were left unfinished. Two meals involved a crab meat which was inedible. The third was a steak special that included grossly overcooked vegetables. How do you ruin asparagus & carrots? Two of the meals included mac n cheese that went unfinished. The pasta was under cooked and there was too much gooey cheese. It's like the kitchen was not even trying. On the other hand, our waitress was excellent. read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. The service here was beyond rude--our server literally threw a pen at my friend when we were just trying to clarify our order. She then started arguing with us about what we had asked for, like it was our fault she got it wrong. On top of that, it was really hard to understand her due to a heavy accent, and she got visibly frustrated when we asked her to repeat herself. She also almost dropped all the food on our table and did spill some soup while serving--didn't even apologize for it. We left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I love coming to shenanigans every time I come to Ocean City, MD. In particular, I make sure to order their fish and chips as it is a personal favorite of mine. Came to Ocean City to look for some Maryland Crab Cakes and stumbled upon this place. It is conveniently located right on the boardwalk and went during the day on a Sunday. Tooks us about 10 minutes to get a table and they have seating both inside and outside. Got an appetizer of the crab dip with bread. The crab dip was good and tasted like fresh crab. I then got the double crab cake meal which included two sides. The sides were not impressive. I got the steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. The veggies didn't have much flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant. The crab cakes were really delicious but it was also pretty pricey. It wasn't worth the price I paid especially with the lack of flavor with the sides. I do recommend the crab cakes and the crab dip. This place unfortunately gave me a mild case of food poisoning this past Friday. I ate the boom boom shrimp tacos. At the time, they tasted amazing and I actually loved them. We were there between 2pm-3pm. I got back to the hotel around 3:20pm. From 3:30pm to 7pm, I took a nap. I woke up feeling extremely nauseous, achy, and had a headache. I threw up like 15-20 minutes after I woke up. Around 8:30pm, I had a small bout of it coming out the other end. I threw up again at around 9:15pm. Finally at 9:30pm, I decided to just go to sleep and hope for the best. I actually slept through the entire night. Thankfully I woke up around 8:30am feeling better! Not 100% because I still had a slight headache and a tiny bit of nausea. However, I took Dramamine and some Tylenol. I was feeling 100% better throughout the day!
