Whenever I visit Texas I have to do a few things, one of those things is get BBQ. I've driven to Austin from Houston to try Franklins, I've been to a few other spots in the Austin and Houston area. This time I came across It's Ribs, I had a taste for BBQ but I wasn't able to get it earlier in the day which is usually when most spots are open. I initially wanted rib tips and saw a picture on yelp that It's Ribs had rib tips so I gave it a try. Got to the counter and looked on the menu no RIB TIPS! Minor setback, I didn't mind too much the restaurant had a cool vibe to it, love the chalkboard menu on the back wall. The cashier at the front counter was cool, and gave great service. I ordered a rib dinner with beans and potato salad, which I typically don't order. I'm assuming it's a family run/owned business, the queen of the castle brought my order out and also greeted me, she offered me some of their house glaze to try on the side. I'd come back to this spot just off the customer service alone, 10/10 for customer satisfaction. I really enjoyed the potato salad, it has a little smoother/whipped consistency compared to the traditionally chunky style, I liked that. It's mustard base, but it's not overpowering. Great compliment to the ribs, the beans were cool, more savory than sweet. Ribs were cool too, great bite, tender but not fall off the bone (you don't want your ribs just sliding everywhere). They don't slather them in sauce, I always feel like when places do that they're trying to cover up something. They do provide sauce on the side, it's smoky not really sweet (not bad, just an observation). Id definitely have them on a return trip to Houston. read more

Its Ribs was very quiet and the ribs were good but it didn't have a smokey flavor that I was looking forward to. The service was helpful in refilling their iced tea and giving us our order. I enjoyed my potato salad and green beans with ham. read more

Absolutely delicious!!! Lord!!! It was a huge surprise! I was planning for my daughter pre-wedding retreat and decided to try them. I'm so glad I did. I order a plate to taste. Baby! I tasted the green beans, and the brisket and sausage! I immediately placed my order. Everyone loved the food. The ambiance is casual, and they also offer blues. Customer service was awesome. I forgot somethings and they assisted me from the curb, which was so appreciated. They are my new favorite for good food!!! My family kept asking where I got the BBQ from. read more

OMG! If you love BBQ and I mean real BBQ and not what some places try to pass off as BBQ then you absolutely must try this place! It looks a little "Divey" but the food is anything but. They have not pork and beef ribs both are so tender and juicy and fall off the bone good you'll have eaten an entire rack before you know it! The brisket is is my absolute favorite, they will ask at order of you want "regular or wet" wet= a little fat in it, but minimal and it is just enough to make it the best I've ever had and almost rivals my cousins (but don't tell him I said that!) They also serve a macaroni and cheese that is to die for... seriously! They have a dessert called Mississippi Butter Cake *insert combo cross-eye/eye-roll, that is soooooo delicious you'll be glad it's served in portions, but save room cause you have got to try it! This visit, I usually use the drive through, I decided to eat inside, as I stated above it seems a bit divey, but it's clean and there's plenty of seating. There's a long table at both front windows so you can sit and watch the crazy drivers. They also have some great music going, blues and such from the 40's to the 60's. And the service is always friendly and as fast they can when serving cooked to order. This IS a MUST TRY even if you're not in the area! And wear stretchy pants cause you're gonna need them! Really good ribs that aren't too salty that comes with great BBQ sauces! I got the St Louis Ribs with the a side of Mac n' Cheese, and both absolutely hit the spot. The meat fell off the bones easily, and the Mac n' Cheese was creamy and delicious. Service was friendly and did a solid job of explaining the different cuts and options on the menu. The only thing I would say is that it would've been nice to have fries on the menu, but other than that this restaurant was great. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area! read more

ALWAYS clean restaurant, restroom and parking lot. Very friendly and attentive staff. TVs on sports and if music is on, it's blues. Neither are loud nor intrusive, so conversation is easy. I'm a HUGE fan of their baked potato, the biggest I've ever seen. ALWAYS tender all the way through and the toppings of your choice are generous. I have a pretty good appetite, but I can only manage half a spud in one sitting. Let's start with the positive; the drive-thru service, baked beans, and texas toast was good. I ordered chicken, moist brisket, and regular sausage and all of it was tasteless; no seasoning at all. The sausage tasted like vienna sausage on steroids. The brisket doesn't look like brisket; it has to be another meat they're passing off as brisket and it had a bad smell. And the chicken, I asked for dark meat and I honestly don't know what I got. The potato salad was not made in-house; it was grainy and very mushy, like it had been traveling for days in the sun! I did taste the brisket and "vienna sausage" but, not much because visions of an ER visit kept popping up in my head warning me not to eat anymore. This disaster costed me $23 and some change. I can't understand why this place isn't packed! We got the St. Louis ribs, Cole slaw, green beans and baked beans. OMG! Plenty of meat and fall off the bone. Their prices are better than Spring Creek. A rack is only $27.95. Most places charge by the pound. This place charges for a rack. Their sides come in small, medium and large. The other side's by the drinks are pickles, raw onions and jalapeños. They have blues music playing on the sound system which is fine with me. I want to try the baked potato next time. It's Ribs is the best rib place in town. We love their St Louis ribs because they are meaty, good size,, delicious and better and cheaper than other BBQ places we've been to. A full slab of ribs (12) is $26.95 & half rack is $14.95. We also like their green beans, baked beans and Cole slaw. After showing my sister what we got, she was like, "No, they changed" lol. They no longer have beef ribs due to the increased prices on that meat. It didn't taste like freshly cooked food. Saturday is a great day for bbq and It's Ribs was on the menu. Upon entering the place was very well lit and welcoming. The menu is plastered across the wall so it's way to see what you want. I decided on the 2 meat chicken and ribs with Mac n cheese along with baked beans. The food came out quickly and I took it to go. Once I got home and opened the plate I was pleasantly surprised. After reading all the reviews and also because of word of mouth, I was convinced that this Bbq spot would be great for a bbq connoisseur such as myself. Long story short the brisket tastes like pennies and the peach tea tasted like sweetened dirty water. Food was good as I had the combo- Ribs & brisket (make sure you ask for the moist kind). Mac & cheese was good and the German chocolate brownie was actually the hit!. The only down side to the place is it didn't seem like the employee cared about the cleansing of the place as tables still had leftover crumbs and dust at our first table! We waited to see if they cared enough to clean those tables but 15mins went past a they just stayed on their cell phones. One of many of my favorite barbecue places in the city of Houston not too fond of their sauce, but I love how they smoke their meat. I love their sausage they have regular as well as spice both are great potato salad is off the chain, taste homemade as well as the green beans and I am a green bean lover. Those are my two favorite sides that I always get their smoked chicken as always cooked to perfection, and the ribs are fall off the bone in the air always warm and friendly service great hospitality. I went by today for lunch because I haven't been here in a while. Now the sliced brisket combo is $11. One meat plates are $12.95. Their prices have risen again. My sandwich and beans were just ok. The meat didn't have much flavor and I still don't like their baked beans like I used to. The recipe has definately changed. The bbq sauce was surprisingly bland this time and that recipe is different also. It wasn't a bad meal but nothing like what they use to serve. I cannot understand how the food here could change so much over the past 18 months or so. Perhaps new ownership. I really liked this place in the past. We dined during dinner on a rainy Forth of July. Despite the holiday and the weather, there was a decent crowd in the small dining room. Went with the much talked about beef rib plate with mac and cheese and coleslaw as the sides. Also added a half rack of ribs. The woman ringing us up was very helpful and friendly. She even offered us a side of the jalapeno glaze to try since I mentioned it was our first time. We took our number, to our table, grabbed little trays of self serve dill pickle slices and fresh onion shreds by the self serve drink station, and waited for the smokey meats to arrive. Our food arrived on trays covered with parchment paper. It looked spectacular! The beef rib plate included two huge, juicy ribs and a generous portion of the sides served. The pork ribs were good enough but no where as good as they could have been had they been smoked a bit longer. The glaze is where it's at. Its base is Mae Ploy sweet chile sauce that is mixed with some jalapeño element. I really enjoyed the mac and cheese! It was creamy and cheesy, the real deal. The second time I visited here, I took an order to go of moist brisket and beef ribs. The brisket was just a mess. No smoke flavor or rings. It was tender, cooked in the oven probably, but I had to slather on the barbecue sauce to make it halfway appetizing. Out of the full rack of beef ribs that we ordered, three of the ribs were delightful, moist, and dreamy again, but the final rib was a skinny, dried, tough hunk of jerky clinging to a bone. It was over cooked and on the verge of being inedible, definitely something that should not be served. But since I took the order to go, tough luck on me! All in all, if you stick to the beef ribs, you should be very satisfied. Just inspect your food before you head home if taking your food to go. read more

Ribs were very bland and not that much flavor. Jalapeño sausage had a weird taste to it. Moist brisket was pretty good. The bbq sauce has a weird flavor to it. Mac and cheese was about the best thing I had and there fountain Dr Pepper was really good. You can tell they don't water it down. The Texas toast was good as well. This place is AWESOME. Ate lunch today for the first time. I had heard good things about this place and was not disappointed. Had the 2 meat plate ( Brisket & Sausage ) with 2 sides ( Baked Beans & Mac and Cheese ) First I wanna say it was a ton of food. It's been a long time since I've eaten at a BBQ joint that served that much meat. And the price was very fair and reasonable. $8.95 for a 2 meat plate with 2 sides. This is very fair especially for the Houston market. I've said this before, I am not a sauce guy. I think the meat should stand on its own and It's Ribs passes this test with flying colors. The brisket and sausage both were awesome with out sauce. Now, I did try their sauce. Both the regular and the spicy were excellent sauces. They both had great consistency and excellent flavor. (5/5) *And I rarely give 5/5 for restaurants that encourage self-service.* Knowing we were first-time visitors who drove over an hour to get to this place, lady who helped explain the menu that was located on their monumental chalkboard, made sure our visit felt very welcoming! I was in the area, and I wanted to try this place. The smell was good outside, so I went in. There was no one there and maybe should've been my clue. My order was ready in minutes. I spent just about $80, and got a family platter and a baked potato loaded. Like everyone else's comments, the barbecue was lack luster. It was cooked very well but had no seasoning. It was very bland. I won't go there again. Too much money for the disappointment it turned out to be. I wish them good luck. read more
