Overdue for an updated review! Pappa G recently underwent new management and so far we are liking the change! The previous owners were nice but they would randomly close the restaurant every now and then and it was confusing. But fear not, that doesn't happen anymore! On top of that, the new owner asks for feedback and then actually implements changes! For example, he fixed a website bug after people asked about it. This place has the BEST pizza. Its so flavorful, the toppings are generous and the crust is the perfect mix of crunchy and chewy. The crust is everything you want it to be, soft, flaky, fluffy and chewy. The perfect way to end each slice. When I crave the pizza here nothing else will satisfy the craving. It has quickly become both addicting and my favorite pizza place. The staff is also super friendly, keeping your number and contact info on file for convenience. They also called us to let us know our pick up order is ready to go. The sign outside is super flashy and vibrant, changing colors making it easy to find. It appears to be a family owned space, with a huge TV on the wall. There isn't space to eat inside so pick up is recommended. Seriously can't recommend this place enough. So I have eaten here several times and don't get me wrong, the pizza is good. Salads are tasty, fresh and HUGE. Customer service is great too. I hate to say anything negative about this place cuz they really are good people and the food is always enjoyable. But this is the third time I have ordered my pizza "crusty" (it is an option the offer when ordering online) and it has been exactly the opposite. Almost underdone. I rarely write a review for pizza but this place deserve an acknowledgement. As you can see in the photo, our half combo and half chicken XL come out in a heart shape. My kids were thrilled. I mean, who else carry a heart shape pizza in the market? The dough was hot and chewy. It's not heavy like Domino's or super thin like New York's. It's at a perfect proportion. The combo pizza definitely reminded me of Costco Combo Pizza, too bad they took it away. So if you love the Costco style combo pizza. This is the one to order. The chicken supreme has a creamier taste. I personally love this more. The overall topping were so fresh. I think it's compatible with Round Table, but with a better price. The shop is under a new management and the owners were super friendly and sweet. We also order a cheesy bread as well, it came out full of cheese. Decent pizza and price. Local firm that's been in business for ages. Very friendly owners. Dough is the chewy NYC style as opposed to the thin crust of Italia. Sauce usually is the deal breaker for me but this one was surprisingly good and authentic. Had to please a bunch of different palates so we opted to get the combo so both the meat lovers and veggie lovers would be pleased. They were. We've had Pappa Georggeo's pizza, it's very good. When we first moved to North Communications Hill, we used to order delivery regularly. Then one day they started charging a $5.00 delivery fee. So rather than always paying the extra fee, we ordered more often from Bona Pizza which has excellent pizza. Today we wanted to give Pappa Georggeo another shot. We tried online delivery to see how it worked. Here's our experience. First, after finding the PGPizza website, to order online we were redirected to Orderstart.com where we had to create an account. OK, done in a flash. The ordering process isn't the best though. We saw the special offers but couldn't figure out how to view the Specialty Pizzas. Instead, we went back to Pappa Georggeo's website. That's when we saw the rather odd mix of Meat pizzas. Basically a Pepperoni, two types of Hawaiian, two all-meat, two combos and two Mexican style (Jalapeno & Salsa). There was no Margarita, traditional Italian (Pepperoni, Onions, etc) or other combinations like hamburg & mushroom. Instead it felt like a one-topping (pepperoni) and four more of the same things. OK, so we ended up choosing a special which included a Combo and 1-Topping pizza. Then we found that there was no way to select thin crust on the combo (it had to be added as special instructions). We also found extra sauce was $2.50! On the 1-Topping, we chose extra sauce again (another $2.50), a second topping ($2.50) and thin crust ($1.00). Honestly I never heard of having to pay extra for THIN crust. Seems they're saving dough, yet charging for it. Together, these two 14" pizzas totaled $51.49. With an additional $4.76 for tax, the grand total was $56.25. But then we learned that to place the order, either we had to buy at least $90.00 worth of food ... or pay a $10 delivery fee. WHAT?? OK, just to be transparent, I entered our address and that of Pappa Georggeo's into Google Maps to calculate the EXACT distance. It was a grand total of 3.6 miles. OK, understand a fee, but that much? In all, to order these two 14" pizzas, we would have had to pay over $66.00 (or order another $30 worth of food we didn't need). Look, we want to support our local community and especially these restaurants ... but they also have to understand our money is HARD earned and prices like this just aren't reasonable. No thanks, not for $66.00. Either we'll just order from Bona again or get pickup at Slice of New York. I gave two stars because I know the pizza is good, but all this other crap is lame. Addendum: we subsequently ordered delivery from Bona ... same Combo/1-Topping special deal, with thin crust and extra sauce on both pizzas ... grand total was less than $48 and included tax and 10% tip. All in, that's almost a third less than Pappa Georggeo. By the way, Bona is exactly 3.1 miles from our home (.5 miles less than Pappa Georggeo). read more

I ordered mine for delivery, And when it arrived, it was piping hot! I ordered the #42 festive chicken, cheese pizza, and cheesy bread. About two weeks before the SIP, we moved into a new house just down the road. In our first few days of moving, we were desperate for something easy so found Pappa Georggeo. What an excellent place. For the last 5 weeks during this SIP, it has become our Monday night special. My husband always goes for a combo, I get something different and my son gets a cheese pizza. It is some of the best pizza we have had and we have lived in many places. Now, it is not the traditional Italian pizza, it's not Boston or New York. It's just incredibly well done fluffy pizza with lots of cheese and toppings. The service is always excellent and when they tell me 20 mins, they mean 20 mins! Lol. Thank you for making this Shelter in Place more bearable and I am glad we have found this gem so close our house.
