There's nothing that stands out about this place but it's just consistently good. There's no seating inside and I don't remember if there was a couple outside. I personally like tht they have a miso sauce that they drizzle on top that I haven't had before at other poke spots. They also don't upcharge to add avocado. Downside is they charge for seaweed salad. Parking is always tough in this plaza. Check this place out! read more

I chose eel sauce, spicy sauce, and ponzu sauce, but despite the combination, the overall flavor was very mild. At other locations, this mix usually delivers a noticeable kick and depth, but in this case, it tasted under-seasoned. Additionally, some parts of the rice seemed a bit hard. Not sure if the rice was sitting out for a while. Overall, I'd rate this experience 4 stars. My kiddo loves spicy tuna, so we found a place close to where we were and it did not disappoint. They did have the spam wrap, that was good and hot in the warmer, didn't even know they had them until we were checking out. The spicy bowl was great for our little and my husband got a loaded bowl and it had lots of goodies in it for no extra money, sometimes places charge for different toppings and they didn't. We wanted poke for lunch and decided to try Poke Bowl. We were warmly greeted when we walked in. It wasn't busy inside. We both ordered the large bowl which came with 4 scoops of protein. I chose the ahi tuna, spicy tuna and 2 scoops of shrimp. My husband got 2 scoops of salmon and 2 scoops of ahi tuna. I really liked the variety of proteins and toppings. Everything looked so fresh. Avocado and masago were included in the toppings that came with the bowl. So it was nice not having to pay extra for those toppings. I also liked the two sauces that were putting the very top. They were a miso sauce and spicy sauce. We decided to eat on their patio on the side of the store. It was a really nice day to eat outside. We both enjoyed our bowls. Food is great! Lots of options and price was what you'd expect. That said, the vibe of the place threw me a little. We ordered pick up and when we went in, it was just straight up empty. Like, for a while. There was loud hip-hop playing, which is fine I guess but I didn't know how to call someone (I literally tried to call in my cell but that didn't work because it went straight to voicemail), so after several minutes, I just shouted "excuse me" over the music. It sounded like they were having a party in the back or something because everybody seemed like they were having a good time, but they also seemed totally oblivious to the fact that there were customers. Once my food arrived, I immediately remembered why I don't order from this place though, their portion sizes are much smaller compared to other places, Especially for what you pay. For another three dollars I could've gotten the same bowl style from another Poki spot and it would've been full to the brim and smashed up against the lid of the bowl. I'm all about saving money, but only when it makes sense. For this spot, it doesn't make sense to get so little for what you pay when you can get a third more for a few dollars more elsewhere. I ordered a Regular Bowl with 3 scoops of protein on Mixed Greens with an extra serving of Seaweed Salad (there is of course an extra charge for that). The email I received said it would take between 10-30 minutes to prepare my order, so I thought this place would be packed with customers. I was so wrong! Not only was the employee who handed me my order the an extremely impolite & unfriendly person, the store was almost empty. Not sure why they gave such a long time frame for pick up. When I got home, I discovered that my order was packed 3/4 full with WHITE RICE instead of the Mixed Greens I requested. I am not even sure that there were 3 scoops of protein (I could not tell one scoop from the other & whatever protein they used it was minimal. They also did not add the Seaweed Salad that I had paid extra for. To be honest I'm not sure if this was a small bowl instead of the medium I paid for as this was my first time trying their poke. How many things can one get wrong on an order or is it more than that? So it is safe to say that I will never be going back to Poke Bowl. Can't believe I have never tried this poke place!!! Portion is huge and price is so reasonable compared to other places I've been to in the West side of San Jose. Their regular bowl includes 3 scoops of protein, and large includes 4 scoops (most places start from 2 and large is 3 scoops only), with tax it comes out around $22 per large bowl. Pretty good price especially they give you one full scoop of avocado free of charge. Most places will charge you for avocado or they only give a tiny piece. They don't have many choices for protein, but the quality is top notch! Their spicy salmon is moist, flavorful and indeed spicy. I got 2 scoops of it and I'm so glad I did. I know they charge extra for edamame and seaweed salad, but I got mine for to-go and my fridge always have those items. They have limited choices of sauce, I highly recommend getting all of them (5 sauces including chili oil) to elevate your bowl. read more

Visited Poki Bowl while Christmas Shopping. No one else was in the restaurant. We ordered our bowls and sat outside. It was a nice enough day. There is no inside seating. The poki bowl was delicious and filling, but the price seemed a bit high compared to other poke shops I've eaten at. I was a little surprised to have to pay a $1.50 each for edamame and seaweed salad. Most other places those items are simply topping choices you can choose from. Service was quick and friendly. They were out of white rice and since they were closing in less than an hour and they weren't making anymore which was fine with us and the police officer who was in line behind us. I been here a few times and usually get a regular bowl. It comes with 3 scoops of protein, so I just get 2 or 3 scoops of shrimp, but sometimes I feel adventurous and will get a scoop of tuna. I mean once I mix everything I kind of forget I'm eating tuna. But yeah, it includes your choice of topping and I usually get the free cucumber, onions, crab meat, avocado (1st scoop free!), green onions, sesame seed and their spicy sauce. Why is avocado free but edamame is extra? :( Also, why is there no tofu as protein option? I been to some other poke place and they have tofu as an option (I know it's a weird request). I wish there was a different price for just a shrimp bowl since I know shrimp is probably cheaper than their raw fish choice. Maybe even a no protein option aka veggies only?? Or even a kid's bowl with just crab meat sounds good to me. Sorry, I'm picky but there's other poke places with a kid's bowl and that's perfect for people like me cause I'm weird. Lol. It appears I am long overdue for an update on Poki Bowl on Almaden Expressway. I have no idea how many times I've been here since my last review, but it is one of my go-to spots. I'm a creature of habit and always get the regular poke bowl w/sushi rice, cucumber, easy onion, 2 scoops of salmon & 1 scoop of ahi (or I may get all salmon), non-spicy sauce, avocado, crab salad, green onion, masago, miso, and furikake. Asked specifically for the dried seaweed mix (and not sesame seeds) and staff dumped in some kind of prefilled furikake container that had both in it--which I unfortunately didn't notice until I got home. My dental work can't bear sesame seeds very well, but at least I'm not allergic. Also, my $18.50 poke bowl with no premium adds somehow turned into 21.26 after tax, ie a buck more than it should've been--again, I didn't put the math together until I was home, and I'm pretty sure that was before the $2 tip I left. My bad for not printing the receipt, but I think either someone slipped in a surcharge on me or the price on the wall isn't correct. And gotta say, the tip screen they put together that a) calculates after tax and b) starts at something like 15-18% minimum then goes up three more notches from there is pretty obnoxious for what amounts to a fast food takeout place with no seating. 10% is somewhere between standard and generous for this kind of service, and should at least be a set option. 20% is for sit-down service only. Staff was very genial, and I've enjoyed getting bowls from here off and on over the years, plus the fish is fresh and some of this was me not paying attention so I'll still give four stars. But I think I'll probably still head across the street from now on, where the pricing and ingredients are more transparent and paying close attention isn't quite so necessary. Poki Bowl might want to give some serious thought to the fact that they have competition now, and up their game a bit. read more

There were 2 staff members, and the building was completely empty, a slow night.. Staff 1 was doing something with the ice cream area. When Poki Bowl opened in 2015 it was the first of its kind in the area, the beginning of a poke trend. I used to come here often, enjoying its fresh and simple tastiness. But after a while, other poke places opened nearby, letting me compare. I came here after over 6 months because my usual poke store closed recently. I was surprised to find that 2 regular bowls now cost over $29! The last time it was around $26 and I thought it was getting pricey for a basic bowl then. Other than the price, not much has changed. The fish is reliably fresh tasting, I usually get a scoop of spicy tuna and 2 of salmon. There is a lot of inconsistency in portion size, it just depends on the server. The main reason I stopped coming here was because of the lack of variety. They offer the basic proteins and toppings found in most places, solid choices but no frills like fried garlic. There is only one sauce for the fish in differing spiciness levels, and spicy mayo, miso, and sriracha for toppings.
