I was looking for a new place to have dinner on a Friday night and Kebab Shop fit the bill. Thanks to other Yelpers for suggesting this. The parking lot at this busy complex is always a little full, but it was easy enough to find someone leaving. When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager, and looked over the menu. I heard so many people raving about the fries that I knew I had to order the crave fries. I also ordered the mezze crunch. My companion did the build your own bowl and he went with a healthy lettuce-based bowl. They have calorie counts on the menu and have suggestions for high-protein if that's your thing. The food is made fresh and was really good. They had a video playing on a screen of how they make the food, and it was interesting seeing how many garlic cloves go into the yogurt sauce. I love that they have a sauce bar and you can grab as much as you want. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating looked nice. We ended up sitting inside and it was nice as well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I also will note that this seemed very reasonably priced, under $40 for two entrees and the fries. Generous portion sizes!

I was looking for a place to have lunch so I used Yelp to find the best rated spot where I was located. The Kebab Shop looked to be the best choice. The cashier was friendly and helpful. I was excited for everything I picked for my bowl. When my buzzer went off I went to collect my bowl and it was packed Togo. The cashier didn't ask if it was for here or to go and assumed Togo. The only issue with that is the qty of items is normally less and the lid was loaded with my sauces that I had to scrape off. But the food was fresh and delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor. I'll come back again for sure but will be sure to state "here" vs getting a to go bowl.

Food was super fresh, you can't really tell in the pic but there was a lot of meat too but still didn't feel like a heavy meal. Their sauces are soooo good too. They were a bit busy the day I went so it took a little longer but the staff were working hard and were very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have nice AC blowing inside or they have outside seating as well which I enjoyed with my family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely be a regular here if I lived in the area!

Great food and fast service! I had falafel and pitta and hummus. Definitely recommend!

The food was flavorful, and the sauces provided complemented the dishes very well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided good customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The main drawbacks were the portion sizes and the wait time. At approximately $17 per plate, the portions felt somewhat small for the price, making the food seem a bit overpriced. Additionally, there was a wait of about 20 minutes or longer for the food to be prepared. This may have been due to limited staffing, a high volume of online orders, or both. Overall, the food quality and customer service were enjoyable, but the long wait times and smaller portions for the price may be factors to consider before visiting

Photo of wraps from the first time

The first time we came here (06/09/26) the wraps were amazing. The guy at the front that worked during that time was super nice, and our wraps were super full and bursting with fresh flavors. Wait time was slightly long, but it was fine. We came back a second time during dinner today. There were different staff but the wraps were lacking from the first time. They were still tasty, but less full and not as fresh. The fries were more soggy, the meat tougher, the whole wrap just less flavorful overall. I think the worst part though was the wait time. My partner and I waited about 40 minutes for our food and they gave us our wraps at different times, like 10 minutes apart. Also, we paid for beef and chicken in one wrap but they forgot the chicken, unfortunately we had already gone home by the time we noticed it was missing. Also a note the shop wasn't even full with only 3 parties so I'm not sure why it took so long for the food to be made for the people seated in the restaurant. They seemed to be pumping out a lot of to-go/Doordash orders, and making all of those before the in-shop customers. Anyway still craving that wrap from the first visit, if you are a cool tall brown guy who worked on June 9 around 3 pm let me know when you're in the shop.

Service was distant. The area where the cutlery are were out of forks, so Gavin had to go up to ask for one. Instead of giving him 2 forks, he had to wait for it to be stocked. The restaurant was fair, not completely clean but I blame the patrons for it. The falafels were ok. I had to use a lot of their sauce to moisten them. The rice was flavorful. Gavin's chicken was tasty, he said. The hummus and pita were delicious. Overall experience was ok. We did not like the service.

San Diego, The Fire wraps and a side of fries

Came earlier this evening on Wednesday 2/5 and ordered two wraps. Not sure if the employee who prepared and rolled our wraps is brand new or was having a bad day but these wraps were not up to their recent standards. My last 4-5 visits - the wraps were made perfectly and this place has become back in my weekly rotation. Going to chalk this one up as a one off but wanted to provide feedback so this individual can get the necessary training. To summarize our wraps - there was a lack of meat. I ordered the chicken tenderloin and there must have been a total of 6 pieces in that entire wrap. I had to re-check my wrap after a few bites, it almost felt like I was eating a veggie wrap. The few pieces of meat that was put in there was all on the very right side of the wrap. They normally wrap it properly where each bite is consistent. My wife's wrap had the same issues as well. Going to continue to come here but if this is going to be new standard, going to have to opt out.

I thought The Kebab Shop was excellent. This place has been on my radar to try for a very long time and it did not disappoint. I had the Chicken Shawarma Wrap and it was very good and huge! I could not believe how big it was and I really felt like I got my moneys worth. I can't wait to go back to try their other dishes.

Not the biggest portion of fries, but everything tastes good together.

We passed by here a few times and checked out pictures of their food. The fries always looked delicious so we finally tried them out. Crave Fries | $5.50 A yummy bowl of fries topped with yogurt sauce, feta cheese, mint, and red onions. Everything goes together very well. Wish they filled up the bowl with fries though, especially since it's a smaller container than what they used to use based on older pictures on Yelp. Potatoes are a cheap starch after all. I originally wanted to get meat on the fries too but that's an extra +$8 just for a small bit of meat. The bowl the fries are served in is just a small brown bowl and the fries don't even fill it to the top. So I can just imagine that it wouldn't be a good portion of meat either. But anyway, just the Crave Fries are good enough. Would recommend trying those over normal fries.

I'm a bit sad that the points system for the Kebab Shop expires at the end of the year rather than one year from the date of purchase because I thought I had some points from October but saw that it was just 0 points and that the points that I accrued from my most recent visit is valid till Dec 31. I've tried their plates, bowls, and wraps and their wraps are usually my favorite; however, the same cannot be said for my most recent visit where I need to assess whether or not it's worth it to come here anymore. I had a chicken wrap and the contents of the wrap were fine but you could definitely tell that they had accidentally burnt the wrapper and pinched off the burnt bubbles to make my wrap. So all I really tasted was "burntness". I tried adding the cilantro jalapeno sauce to cover up the burntness but that didn't really work out all that well. Mainly only saying it might not be worth it due to the price point for the wrap where I could have gotten a whole meal from the Habit Burger next door. ~~Parking: Located in a strip mall. There's not that much parking in front of the actual restaurant but if you go towards the side with Ulta and the Bass Pro Shops there's much more parking. ~~Service: Ok. Though I wish they just made me a new tortilla for the wrap. ~~Best Part: The cilantro jalapeno sauce ~~Worst Part: The tortilla part of my wrap. ~~Tips: Don't order a wrap. A plate is more likely a safe bet. ~~Return: Probably not for a while.

The food is really tasty. I recommend the saffron rice with the bowl or wrap. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The spot has a lot of room for indoor and outdoor seating as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Both meats were juicy, flavorful, and tender but if I had to pick one it would hands down by the beef steak. One thing to note about the dining experience is that it was uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant. I went on a summer day when it was in the high 80s and the restaurant didn't have AC or a fan... it was a lot warmer inside the restaurant than it was outside. I felt so relieved when I stepped outside.

It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

It was probably good, but the flavor profile didn't stand up to the rest of the food. I thought it could use more flavor, but that just me nitpicking... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5***** for me This food here is amazing. I'll be back...

I took no pictures because I was eating in the car and just dove in, but it was well-wrapped for the journey. I was kicking myself after leaving for not remembering to ask for no onion, only to discover that, thankfully, they didn't put raw onion on it! I was delighted, and this may be the best chicken shawarma I've ever had. The meat was flavorful and plentiful for a small order, and to my utter joy there were strips of pickle tucked in with the meat! It was such a delicious mouthful that I was really wishing I'd gotten the full size after all! It's better that I didn't, and now I can't wait to go back again and try more things, like the shawarma fries! Parking can be difficult so be prepared to hunt and maybe walk a bit. The staff was all woman and while they weren't chatty, they were all diligently doing prep, which is necessary. I honestly can't wait for the chance to come back soon!

The beef and lamb arabi style wrap portion is pretty big. I got seasoned fries for the side and we were given a lot. I'm a big fan of the double fried fries or the so-called psoriasis fries. There was a good balance of crispy and mushy fries. Tastes really good with the toum and the tahini sauce. The wrap is a bit dry but the flavors are still good. I think I do prefer the chicken over the beef/lamb mainly for the tahini sauce. The service is kind of just ok. I didn't know you were supposed to grab the sides from the fridge and they didn't tell me until I had to go back and ask. The whole interaction just felt a bit awkward but I'm sure they were also just tired. The place could be a bit tidier and cleaner. There's also no public restroom for those wondering but they have hand sanitizer stations set up which is nice. Parking is not too difficult but I haven't been when it's peak hours.
