The evening started with an excellent greeting from the hostesses. We couldn't decide if we want to eat at the bar or table. We decided to sit at a table. Our server was great from the beginning. Our drinks arrived in a very timely manner. The bread was lukewarm. My spinach and crab dip arrived. However the bread was cold, soggy and oozing with oil. I brought it to my server Jesus attention. He apologized and quickly rectified the situation. On the second round of drinks my beer had something stuck to the glass. We brought it to our waiters attention and sent the manager over. She needs some coaching in customer service. Never an apology just a poor excuse on the reason for the dirty glass. read more

This was our most disappointing visit to a PAPPADEAUX ever. Let me be clear, solely because of the service. Our server, Gunnnar, was the worst waiter I have ever had. When we first got there, we asked him a question about the restaurant and he replied, "oh, I don't know. I don't get into the politics of the restaurant." It was not at all a political question and his voice dripped with annoyance indicating he found our question remarkedly stupid. Next he brought the water and tea for the others and when I asked if he had my wine, I was told, "oh that takes ALOT longer." When we inquired about bread....his response, "there isn't any." Our food took unusually long to come out. None of these things are terrible, but add up to not good service. The final straw was when when he brought our 2 desserts to go with one to go utensil. When we asked for another to go utensil he told us there were not any more. I told him surely he could go find one more. When he returned with the second to go utensil he RUDELY told us when he gets to go food he just just uses his silverware at home. In other words why were we bothering him for another to go utensil. We let him know our hotel room did not have any silverware. We will definitely go back to Pappadeux and we may even go back to the one in Beaumont, but GUNNAR WILL NOT be out waiter. I hope the manager is smart enough to fire him so he doesn't ruin the reputation of this great restaurant. read more

I came here for lunch. I only had Pappadeaux as a stopover at IAH. I was so happy to be able to dine at one of its flagship restaurant. I thought about trying out the oyster but I was a bit full so I ordered the Louisiana gumbo and po boy. Wow, that was amazing! I think it's much better here as the gumbo was cooked perfectly. I didn't care too much about the Po Boy. I wished I ordered the oysters. The Po Boy was definitely a red light dish. What I regretted most was not ordering the key lime pie. For #Thinsulin fans, there's a few green light dishes. Be careful about the fried dishes as they are mostly breaded. read more

Clean restaurant? Yes. Atmosphere? Yes. Wait staff? Awesome. High prices? You bet! Worth the high price? NO! Hubby and I didn't even drink and our bill was over a hundred dollars. Then there was the tip which was pricey too. Our server deserved the tip. The food was good but not great. For the price we paid we expect awesome food. We will not be going back. The price is just way too much for the ok food. There are other places that are just as good (or better) that have better prices. read more

Made reservations for 730 on a Friday night, was seated a little earlier than that. Our waiter was Jay and he was so knowledgeable, personable, and efficient. This place was hands down the best Cajun food we've had while being in Texas. I had the shrimp n grits and my husband got the papadeaux platter, then a Creme brûlée for dessert. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and the portions are big, so plenty of leftovers. I recommend a reservation because this place is hopping! read more

Mannnn this location is spot on when it comes to seasoning, flavor and service! I was impressed at how quickly our order arrived and great tasting everything was. I could see myself wanting to frequent this location more if it were closer to me however I was only in the area with clients. This was my first time going to the Beaumont location. The wait was about 15 minutes, but it only took about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered the crawfish and shrimp fondeaux for an appetizer and it was amazing ! I highly suggest this appetizer. I ordered the Mississippi Opelousas catfish and it was really good. I've always seen Pappadeaux when traveling through Houston by car and even in the airport. I never really gave it any thought because it seemed to just be a chain trying to do food from the mother land. (That's New Orleans for you not in the know) Well Pappadeaux is a chain cooking that type of food, but suprisingly they do a solid job. They have a variety of Gulf fish that seems to be fresh. I had a grilled Mahi that was really good. We also had a appetizer(yeah I'm ass backwords) that was a sampler of seared salmon, fried gator and a spinach, shrimp and artichike dip. All was solid. The menu is large with something for everyone. The only issue is it seems to be a little pricey. Very few entrees under 20.00. P.S. Am I the only one who gets the Madonna song stuck in my head when I come here? "Pappadeaux preach" Hahahaha. I kill me. read more

We were in Beaumont for a softball tournament and decided to go here on Saturday after games. Probably a bit nicer than our sweaty girls deserved. They sat our party of ~40 (team, siblings, and parents) in under 15 minutes without a reservation. Thought they did a fantastic job with an unplanned party this large. They even split up checks by family without asking. Food was as expected, drinks were quick. Overall could not ask for a better experience for a large group. Honestly this place has so much potential to be great.. the garden is lush when walking up, tasty dishes, friendly staff, etc. HOWEVER, this experience was SO bad. To start the meal they bring you out a loaf of bread, which I'm not sure who they have baking in the back or what kinds of sanitary precautions they are taking but to bite into a piece and find A LONG DARK HAIR that you literally pull out of your mouth is enough to turn anyone off. We should have left right there, but considering the waitresses reaction and the prompt response by the manager we brushed it off. As for the appetizer, we got the medium sized calamari which was terribly salty and tiny for the amount they charge. I got a cup of gumbo that was to be "added to my entree" for a discounted price (came out over salted and cold) but was still charged the full amount of $9.95 for the smallest cup ever. I enjoyed my entree (plain mahi with white wine cream sauce) and I substituted the dirty rice for green beans and they messed up and still gave me the dirty rice (didn't care for it, but tried it since it was on my plate and go figure it was cold). The Atlantic salmon and shrimp was really good, my husband cleaned his plate but the crawfish etouffee my daughter ordered was once again, over salted. We didn't complain about anything more, although I wish I would have. Just wasn't looking for them to offer us another free dessert *rolls eyes*. After the bill came to $140 for 3 people, I should have taken them up on that free dessert offer!! Wasn't the first time here, but sadly we won't be returning‍. I'll try to give Pappadeaux one more chance. The last two times I've been here my food has been to salty! Next time I'm going to say No salt or butter please because the food is drenched. I got scallops and shrimp and I was very excited but they were so salty they were inedible. I left pregnant and hungry and very disopointed. All I wanted was a low sodium healthy seafood dinner with vegetables but The wonderful quality of my scallops and shrimp were completely lost! First they brought me out the wrong dish with everything fried with French fries instead of grilled seafood & vegetables. By the time my correct but inedible food came out my party was done eating. We always get good service with the staff but please management make sure to remind everyone to always remember silverware because we always have to ask for it. Other than that everything was great. I have updated my previous review from three stars to four because the manager has contacted me and Sent me a much appreciated gift card. Three stars only because the young man who attended us was so great. The calamari was great and the grits were awesome, however the Mardi Gras pasta had an off taste to it. It had an aftertaste that reminded me of a dirty dishrag. Also, the shrimp were NOT cleaned. For that price and such a nice restaurant I would hope they had taken the time to clean the poop chute. Stopped here leaving Galveston, Texas & headed to Mississippi. This place is MUST visit if you are in Beaumont, TX and if you love seafood. Nice ambience and also a lush sitting area outside. Excellent service. Good options of wine and cocktails as well. The Oysters Pappadeaux & The Oysters Baton Rouge were delectable. The Mardi Gras Pasta was chalked full of crawfish & delectable Andouille sausage. Crab Fingers were perfection! . Seafood Cobb salad was loaded with sweet crab meat & the gumbo was superb. I've always loved Pappadeaux's but was a little disappointed last week. Ordered a cup of gumbo which was ok and a small order of fried shrimp. There were plenty of shrimp but was disappointed in that there was too much breading. Tasted like what you would be on a buffet. Service was friendly but never looked in on us. read more

Only complaints I have: The bread came in whole and not sliced which made a pretty large mess cutting it ourselves with a butter knife. Great seafood at good price. Excellent service. This is our lunch stop every time on the way back from Houston. They are really on their game. Unfortunately there is roadwork in the area so it makes it difficult to get to for the time being since the exit off of I 10 is closed.
