This place has been here for years and is always a great experience. Today we had Corin for our server and he was better than average for this place which might not seem a compliment except that the service here is always superior to most places in the Woodlands. We started with the fried mozzarella which is clearly made fresh in-house and is absolutely fabulous. I know what you're thinking: "but Mike, this is a seafood place and you're gaga over their fried cheese?". Well, yeah, I get it's odd but the stuff is seriously incredible. I demand you try it. The wife had the Tilapia and shrimp and loved it, particularly the green beans side. I had the crawfish platter, one of my favorites here. I also started with a lemon drop martini. I love this place but was absolutely unhappy on my birthday when I ordered my favorite to go and it was not what I'm accustomed to getting. The seafood salad is not cheap by any means and I have ordered it numerous times but they skimped on the seafood and I was not happy about it. There are no Pappadeaux in my state so when I travel to a state where there are, I try to visit. I have not been to one in several years and boy was I disappointed. I ordered a bowl of Sausage and Seafood Gumbo, it was OK. I wasn't expecting it to be New Orleans gumbo and it was pretty good, however the vegetables were cut into HUGE pieces, it was almost like vegetable soup with shrimp and sausage. There was supposed to be crab in it but I saw and tasted none, real gumbo has crab legs. The gumbo was actually the highlight of my meal. My entrée was the fried seafood platter. Absolutely no flavor, had to pretty much drown it in hot sauce and could not finish it. More and more restaurants are making food bland these days, I get it, much more healthy but people don't eat at Pappadeaux's every day. Make good, well seasoned food, let people worry about eating healthy, places like this are our cheat days. read more

This was a new pappadaux experience for me. I usually stay on the other side of town. The woodlands are much safer and you are less likely to get robbed or your car broken into. We arrived around 4pm the place was packed on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the crawfish turnover for an appetizer and the blackened fish with dirty rice as an entrée. It was amazing, but the service lacked severely. Maybe he was new. But for the prices he should have been more attentive. First and foremost shout out to my waiter very nice, outstanding, and well mannered person. As for my food not the most outstanding keeping in mind the prices, but nonetheless was good. As for the atmosphere, it was pretty chaotic as it always is, according to the locals i asked and interviewed. From the waitress Beth who we learned was from our hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana she was great. We love to share the shrimp and crawfish fondue with garlic bread! We requested no mushrooms. When it came out, Flor made a U turn to the kitchen. She came back out and apologized she didn't see the mushrooms and took it back. Flor is the best server I've had. She was attentive to every detail without hovering, a pleasure to talk to, and I'll ask for her section at our next stop. She is definitely the quality of server I experience at 4 star restaurants. I loved the cocktail sauce but the cook neglected to apply the other condiments it came with so dry. We were at a hotel so couldn't fix it. I wasn't so happy as it was $48 for lunch. But in addition to that the didn't wrap the fries or the po boy in sandwich parchment! The sandwich would have been incredible, but because of the items above, it was dry and impossible to cut with the little plastic knife they gave you. The fries were tasty kind of but wet because I guess for $48 in Houston Texas that's a good price. I'd give them a second try if I were going to the restaurant to eat but never get "Take Away." Sat at the bar and ordered very simply the bowl of gumbo and house salad. They can do that standing on their head. The gumbo came out but no salad...had to remind them...and ask them to bring bread for the gumbo. The gumbo was watery and their was way too much dressing on the salad. And the gumbo tasted unusually sour for some reason. I've never had a substandard meal here before but this was pitiful. Someone took me to lunch so I didn't want to complain and send the food back but it was no where close to Pappadeaux standards. Get your act together. read more

A group from our ministry all flew to Houston to witness the wedding of our brother and sister in the Lord. This place was suggested and so the whole group met up here for dinner which was fine with me since I enjoy cajun cuisine. It's a busy place and it took a while to get enough tables to accommodate our large party but kudos to the staff because we all eventually were able to be seated pretty close to each other. This go around, I decided to have the Pappas Greek Salad and the Andouille Sausage and Seafood gumbo. I split both plates with my buddy because I wanted a variety and also I was still full from having lunch earlier in the day. What I had of the salad was decent. It wasn't the greatest of experiences and was just average. The gumbo was average too. I thought it didn't have enough of the good stuff, the sausage and seafood and was mostly rice. For the price you'd expect to get a larger helping but I guess that's not the case here. They seem to have a few locations in the Houston area and judging by how crowded it was, it seems like a popular place. But for the average food, fairly high price and long wait time to get seated, I'd probably skip eating here in the future. I'm sure there must be a smaller mom and pop cajun place somewhere so I'd probably seek that out instead if I'm ever hankering for this type of cuisine. read more
