This was a treat for me. I have to say I was more em teased with Pappadeaux this time compared to the two other locations I've eaten at. We shared an order of the allegation bites which were seasoned and cooked very well. Then I ordered the lunch size blackened catfish with red beans and rice. When the plate came out I asked the server if he gave me the lunch serving and he said yep that's the lunch portion. It was huge! The fish could have been cooked a little better but overall not bad. But the red beans and rice are on a slap your mama level. I could just eat those! The server was nice but it did take a long time to get our meal. The location was packed and this location. Took my wife for her birthday dinner. Food was very good. She had a seafood tagliatelle pasta dish which she really liked. Large shrimp, very well cooked octopus and crawfish tails in sauce. Large portion which she finished off for lunch the next day. I had the 3 fried soft crab dinner, it was good but not exceptional. 3 medium sized crabs breaded and cooked well. In their defense I'm a Marylander born and breed and have had some of the best soft crabs in the world. Service was excellent. Our waiter checked in on us often, wished my wife a happy birthday and brought her a fantastic brownie as a birthday gift. Food was served promptly. The cocktails we ordered were excellent. Dinner for two with a cocktail each came to $135 before tip. For us, that's special occasion type dinner. This place fits that bill. We will be back, maybe for our anniversary. read more

I grew up going to Pappadeaux, so I'm so sad they don't serve the cheese oysters anymore. That was the only reason I would come (besides the bread). There's still good reason to come. This is always a fun place to come to eat for small celebrations. The ambiance is too great to pass up. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the staff due to issues with a reservation. My family and I reserved a table for a birthday dinner. We got there on time and they gave our table to someone else. I understand it was busy, but that is unacceptable. We ended up having a table opened for us. I got the seafood fondue and it was fantastic. I forgot how good it was! I decided to try their crab cakes and I felt indifferent about it. This restaurant is a staple for the Houston Area. The Pappa family really does do all food well and service is usually wonderful. This was not the case today sadly. It was a little bit of both the front of house and back of house. Service from our waiter was casual and inattentive. Management was lackadaisical and kitchen VERY slow. I won't get into the particulars of all that happened during my visit last night because this establishment is usually on point. The food always tastes amazing and for this, they received three stars. It would normally be four. I almost gave it two stars based solely on my visit yesterday, but after I spoke with the manager on duty, he made it right. If you are looking for quality seafood this is the place! This is my third time at this location & I've never had any issues but after today I'm not sure I would visit this location again. I was dining with my SO today. When we first arrived they had no power ( not their fault) so we did a little shopping in the area until their power was turned on. We got to the restaurant and I asked to be seated in a booth by the bar. The hostess was very kind and escorted us to our table & introduced us to our server Kevin J. This is where everything went downhill. He was very flippant from the beginning. We place our drink orders and I immediately told my SO we should have asked for a different server. Long story short, I would not call what he provided us service. He was not attentive at all. He refilled our drinks once and when he did he asked for my SO's drinking glass and didn't acknowledge mine. We both had sweet tea so that made no sense. When he stopped by to refresh our drinks he basically poured tea from another glass onto our drinks and left said glass on our table. Mind blown! We were never asked if our meal was okay, if we needed anything, if we needed to-go boxes or wanted dessert. I had to stop him and ask for small plates and more tartar sauce, he came back with his dirty thumb on the plate and just dropped them down and walked off. News flash Kevin, when handling plates hold them from the bottom to avoid putting your hands on the surface that people have to eat off of. Same with drinks, hold the glass around the middle not the rim. This is basic cleanliness. I have never been to a restaurant and the server not offer dessert or our check! He walked by our table 3 times and didn't even acknowledge us. $135 for a meal and I had to get up and ask the hostess for our check. Since he never bothered to clear any dishes from our table, when we did get our check he had to remove the bread & butter dish so my SO could sign the receipt. That's beyond pathetic. Unacceptable after spending $135 on a meal. He also had the nerve to circle the tip amounts and write thank you on the receipt as if he deserved anything for suck poor service. I left a $10 tip. My SO wanted to leave nothing but that didn't sit right with me. The positives: My drink from the bar and the food was delicious. I loved the catfish. I wish I would've asked for no salt on the French fries but other than that it was great. Overall, I feel like I wasted over $100 dollars. If you go at Lunchtime Allen the server is awesome and used to be in a band and loves good music and just a pleasant man who really knows service. We love to eat here and the salads to start with the scrumptious bread and butter always fills me up and I have to bring home my food lol. We shared the cheesecake one night and omg it was too good I tried to stop eating it as I was so full but dang it I ate it lol. My experiences was of a mostly large noisy dining room with overly spicy and buttered food, but on this visit it all changed. We were initially given a table which faced a group of people sitting to get a table! Ugh, no way! Sorry, but I'll take another table. Thankfully they honored my request cheerfully. My anxiety could not handle sitting for dinner while a group of people watch me eat. Next, friendly waiter and delicious food and vino. Crab cake was a winner and so was the fondue! I shared the shrimp étouffée with grits meal with Mr. G and it was amazing every bite was heaven. Other family dishes were pasta and chicken which they gladly made for my selective eater and they even replaced my awful sweet mojito with a red blend. I have to pace myself or bread will be my entire meal I had the new Wild Caught Costa Rican Mahi Mahi & lemon Chile crab with lemon butter sauce and italian barley salad. Mmm mm mm. I really enjoyed the fresh herbs in the salad. Hubby had the Atlantic Salmon Alexander with dirty rice. It was blackened with just the right amount of spiciness. I had to have a bite ya know. Tried Papadeaux last night. We went last week but too packed so we went back tonight with reservation. Our service took a while but understandable since they're busy. Seems to be the busiest restaurant we've been to since Covid. I had Grilled Tilapia with lump crab and shrimp and dirty rice instead of green beans. Also my meal has some crab shell on it. If I wasn't careful, I might've chewed on it. I like salty but this seems to be too salty for me. My son had fried shrimp and french fries and he said he likes it be because it's salty especially the fries lol. Also my son had a crab shell on it his meal although he didn't order crab. My daughter had chicken tenders since she's not a fan of seafood. She said it was ok, I mean who orders chicken tenders in a seafood restaurant lol. My husband had fried shrimp (he said it was bland) and fries (I tried and it's also salty) and he wasn't a fan (he's not a seafood lover too so he said the things that he do for me ). It's disappointing when a local popular restaurant changes the rules so that the bar is no longer open seating on the weekends. Pappadeaux is apparently trying to maximize profits without regard for its loyal local customers. Nothing is sent out via text or email to let people know there will be more than an extended wait. No sign is posted at the front, and no one is there to inform customers of the policy change. Unknowing locals who are used to open bar seating, a practice that is fairly standard among restaurants, enter and grab a table, and are subjected to an embarrassing and rude ejection by the restaurant manager (a gentleman named Max last night). It's pretty obvious that the restaurant sees an opportunity to fill every table with visiting out of towners. They seem happy when loyal customers give up and leave. I didn't see any, but I would not be surprised at all if they started seating children in the bar! Loyalty to longstanding good customers be dammed....profits over everything! read more

There are no Pappadeaux in my state so when I travel to a state where there are, I try to visit. I have not been to one in several years and boy was I disappointed. I ordered a bowl of Sausage and Seafood Gumbo, it was OK. I wasn't expecting it to be New Orleans gumbo and it was pretty good, however the vegetables were cut into HUGE pieces, it was almost like vegetable soup with shrimp and sausage. There was supposed to be crab in it but I saw and tasted none, real gumbo has crab legs. The gumbo was actually the highlight of my meal. My entrée was the fried seafood platter. Absolutely no flavor, had to pretty much drown it in hot sauce and could not finish it. More and more restaurants are making food bland these days, I get it, much more healthy but people don't eat at Pappadeaux's every day. Make good, well seasoned food, let people worry about eating healthy, places like this are our cheat days. read more

Came here to celebrate my friends 30th birthday on a Thursday. There were 6 of us and we had a reservation but still had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated. The table they took us to had been empty since we arrived but the service after was superb. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and able to help me pick an entrée around my food allergies. For appetizers we got the calamari, crab dip and boudin. Eveything was well liked around the table and then about 20 minutes later our meals came out. There were some slight errors in the food that came out but our server told us to keep it and he would go get the correct items. He got us most of the items we ordered but the birthday boy never got his gumbo. Our server apologized as for a Thursday it was inordinarily busy. He comped him a dessert. This place has been here for years and is always a great experience. Today we had Corin for our server and he was better than average for this place which might not seem a compliment except that the service here is always superior to most places in the Woodlands. We started with the fried mozzarella which is clearly made fresh in-house and is absolutely fabulous. I know what you're thinking: "but Mike, this is a seafood place and you're gaga over their fried cheese?". Well, yeah, I get it's odd but the stuff is seriously incredible. I demand you try it. The wife had the Tilapia and shrimp and loved it, particularly the green beans side. I had the crawfish platter, one of my favorites here. I also started with a lemon drop martini. She's shucked oysters the whole time we had dinner I thought that was wonderful to see someone so committed to being a team player even though there in management . We started off with some drinks I had a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives which are usually don't ask for because it's a pain in the butt to take the olive and stuff the blue cheese. I asked for a side of blue cheese with the martini the Bartender told me that she could stuff the olives for me and I said you're really busy I can do it and she said no I insist with no sort of passive aggressive undertone which I also find amazing!
