While visiting family in Houston we took my husband and father in law to eat at Babin's. My father in law was not lying about the food everything we had was good! When I walked up to the restaurant I felt like I was somewhere in New Orleans the French design of the building, the cute courtyard that is indoors as a waiting area was extremely cute and there was a fountain there. Prior to being seated there was a mix up with my reservation but with it being Sunday and Father's Day I can understand. For my entree I had the Bourbon Street Pasta without the andouille sausage and it was so good and creamy. The flavor was there the next day too as my left overs. And prior to my entree I had a Greek salad that was sooooo good. Now I did have dessert but I wasn't finishing the cake it was huge it gave me vibes of the cake from the movie Matilda. I was mad that the cake didn't have ice cream because they were out. Other than that it was a good day to eat and I will definitely go back when I'm visiting.

    Lunch French Quarter Pasta

I ordered the French Quarter Pasta with no added cheese on top. Babins is pretty consistent with this pasta, I've had it a few times at different locations. Great taste and they give you a good portion with bread. I ordered this pasta to go and picked it up at the bar, staff was very friendly and service was fairly quick. My personal opinion, I wish they put some kind of green veggies, like spinach in the pasta. I didn't get a chance to dine in but it was pretty slow during lunch time. I def recommend for a good lunch spot!

If you have a group of people joining you or even if you don't, I always recommends please make reservations. It helps make your experience and gives the staff preparation for your visit. Ambiance:4/5 Parking is convenient and plentiful. Dress code is casual unless you're celebrating or just like dressing up. It is a little loud likely because it was a Saturday evening. Service:5/5 Service was quick and efficient. Our waitress, Helen, was friendly & attentive. Food:4/5 The food was good and came out fairly quickly. Enjoyed our time and experience.

A fabulous evening of celebration for my parents 61st wedding anniversary on a Tuesday. Leo provided excellent service despite juggling bar service, multiple tables and patrons. Food is always fresh, flavorful and the bar bites and happy hour makes for an enjoyable way to get to taste multiple items. Those Oyster Bienville are lusciously delicious. I wish there were more Babin locations but well worth the drive

We found ourselves out on a quiet Monday evening looking for a bite to eat and decided to give Babin's a try for the first time. With an almost empty parking lot and minimal crowd, we weren't sure what to expect. Our friendly waitress let us know about their Monday fish special and pointed out the large selection on the board, some varieties we had never even heard of, which was a nice surprise. We started with the fried green tomatoes and were also served a small piece of French bread for the table. The appetizer came out beautifully presented, tomato slices arranged around a marinara dip. While the dip wasn't quite my thing (I would've preferred Ranch), the tomatoes themselves were crisp and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the seafood platter and the crab cakes. The platter was generously portioned and packed with variety. The crab cakes were a standout, moist, tender, and topped with a delicious sauce that pulled everything together. Overall, it was a satisfying and hearty meal, so much so, we needed a to-go box. Definitely a pleasant first visit!

They have a great lunch menu for seasoned citizens. I ordered the blackened catfish with broccoli. Was very tasty. Other party members had the fried seafood plate which is very plentiful with a nice variety. The seafood gumbo was good. Warm bread is always a nice touch since a lot of restaurants have cut back on bread. Service was excellent. Arrived at 1:30 so the restaurant was not crowded but even later the table spacing was excellent for conversation. Adequate parking which is important.

Had to come back while I was in town. Skip the main stream joints and check this gem out. Great service and great food.

I took my mother here for her birthday, It was our first time. The ambiance is giving a New Orleans French Quarter with its vibrant color and old downtown feel. The service was excellent. Our waitress had a great personality and was very friendly. She was knowledgeable about the menu and there was so knowledgeable ch to choose from. It had that down home family feel, comfortable and cozy. The food was delicious. They give large portion so they can easily be stared. The desert was also really good. We will be back to try diverging else on the menu.

Happy Hour on a Sunday? Yes please! Food/drinks were delicious and the bartenders were great. Even with my husband ordering off the lunch menu, we spent less than $30

The order after server confirmed okra and tomato's. And what the heck is center

I had never been to the previous address, but the interior design was so lovely we chose to sit at the new bar. Kady, the bartender (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) was such a doll the whole time waiting us. She kept the chips (touch of louisiana we enjoyed) next to her for refills and made the most twisted hurricane I've had. Definitely walked out clinging to my man lol. We tried the crawfish dip which came with two types of bread, though both went amazing with it. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a side of hush puppies and my old guy ordered the lamb chops, well done, with gumbo (we don't eat pork) and stuffed shrimp. Everything was so damn great tasting. I mean, damned good tasting. My only flaw was the roux could've been a little thinner, but that is absolutely it. Fabulous timeeee and I'm so recommending.

Despite a pretty empty restaurant we were told that only the bar and outside were available. And unlike many other places, they said this bar only allows 21 and older to dine in the bar area, which means only the outside for us. This being a cold (because of the wind) and cloudy morning. Sigh. Asked for a kids menu and was told it's only for 12 and under. Got the evil eye from the hostess when I said my kid qualifies. Then I offered to show them her ID and they backed off with smiles even. The complementary potato chips kind of tasted like Chips Oman. At least they weren't stale and it's a nice addition while you wait. The kiddo got the kids catfish which was just a pretty small piece of fish. Fries were good. Side fruit consisted of strawberries pineapple and red grapes. No drink included. Had to chase down the staff to get some tartar sauce. I wanted a Po Boy but was told they don't offer it on the weekends. Asked about beignets and was told it's only for dessert. Sigh. Decided to get the pork ribeye fricassee. The flavor was good but boy was it salty. Almost like they dropped a whole shaker of salt on it. Good thing there was some rice to counter the effect. Otherwise it would be inedible. So after our meal we had access to the desert menu and got a half order of beignets (4 pieces). They were ok. The dough on these is pretty thick though. Not sure if that's standard but I'd prefer light and fluffy. Soft opening was just the day before. So I think they're trying to find their stride. Water girl was on it though so kudos to her. Waiter was meh. Had to go in and fetch him a few times as they don't come outside much, especially when you're the only one out there. The bar area is small but the bartenders are nice. They have a sectioned off room in the back which might be good for a larger group. Place is kinda small overall though.

They have a few cocktail concoctions; however, they only serve beer and wine so they're wine based. I looked over the menu which is reasonably priced and decided on the blackened catfish (1 filet) with onion rings and red beans and rice. You can choose 2 sauces so I picked tartar and remoulade. I also added an iced tea. Red beans and rice - very watery, should really have drained off most all the liquid before serving this. Good flavor though with plenty of andouille sausage in it. Onion rings - these are pretty good Catfish - this really hit the spot especially when dipping everything in the remoulade. Overall, I liked this place and will return to try other dishes.

I thought this place was black owned? Who doesn't put wafers in their banana pudding?? It was just the "pudding" and 2 slices of banana. That's wild, I hope they switch their recipe up. There was also a kid running around barefoot behind the register, I'm assuming it was the family of the cashier. Not even sure if the guy that bagged my order worked there or not because he didn't have on a uniform. I specifically asked for tartar sauce and extra lemon and he gave me ranch and no lemon and didnt put the banana pudding in the bag at first. So, the fish was good and the cashier was nice but the green beans and red beans wasn't seasoned and the banana pudding was sinister. We got the fried chicken tenders with seasoned fries, the shrimp etouffee, some beans and rice, and the Bourbon Street pecan pie. Washed down with a drink from the fountain. It's difficult to get white meat chicken tenders to actually come out tender, and they didn't quite succeed here. The tenders were on the dry side. The fries were ok, ordinary fries with a little seasoning (like Tony Chachere's but I don't know if that's what they use). The shrimp etouffee was very good, and an interesting presentation. You get seven whole shrimp in the etouffee sauce with a cake of perfectly done white rice in the middle, so you can dredge the rice through the sauce with your fork. The sauce was salted exactly right and had great depth of flavor. The shrimp were done nicely with good snap. It's a great dish, easy to recommend. The beans and rice was good--had very good flavor but the beans were a bit broken. The pecan pie was a good sweet version--tasty pecan filling with a very firm, sugary crust. The interior is plain but clean and inviting. The bathrooms were clean and ready. Service is friendly and enthusiastic. They did not have barbecue when I came in, so the full experience is not quite there but they were ready with what they had. I'm rounding up to 4 stars. I would skip the fried stuff and go for the Cajun dishes.

When I arrived, it was not busy at all, so I walked right in and met her at the bar. She had already ordered our drinks, which I appreciated. She got the Purple Voodoo. Even though it is no longer on the menu, they still made it for her, and she said it tasted the same. I ordered my usual Long Island iced tea, and listen, that thing was made to perfection. Not too sweet, not too dark, just the right balance. Whoever made it knew exactly what they were doing. The ambiance was really nice. It was calm with low lighting and good music playing in the background. It was not too loud, just enough to set the mood without interrupting conversation. It was not crowded, but there were a few people in there enjoying dinner and drinks. It made for a really laid back, after work, midweek dinner vibe. For food, she ordered the blackened catfish with red beans and rice, and I went with fried shrimp, a baked potato, and a Caesar salad. The food came out pretty quickly. Now let's talk about the food. The Caesar salad was amazing. It was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. I asked for extra croutons and extra dressing, and while I did not need the extra dressing, I definitely needed those croutons. That salad alone could have been my whole meal with some grilled shrimp or salmon added. The baked potato was really good. It was large, filling, and loaded with butter and cheese. My only critique is that the cheese was not melted. It was more like layered on top in ribbons. If they had warmed it just a bit to melt the cheese, it would have taken it up another level visually and in texture. Now the shrimp. It looked good, but it did not deliver. The breading did not do it for me, and it tasted pretty bland, like it was missing seasoning. Especially compared to how well seasoned and perfectly blackened my friend's catfish looked, the shrimp just did not measure up. That was definitely the miss of the meal for me. I did not taste the catfish, but it looked incredible. It was beautifully plated and a generous portion. My friend ate more than half and took the rest home, which says a lot. Service was exceptional. Attentive, friendly, and smooth from start to finish. Overall, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10. The drinks, service, ambiance, and that Caesar salad carried the experience, but I would skip the shrimp next time.
