While visiting family in Houston we took my husband and father in law to eat at Babin's. My father in law was not lying about the food everything we had was good! When I walked up to the restaurant I felt like I was somewhere in New Orleans the French design of the building, the cute courtyard that is indoors as a waiting area was extremely cute and there was a fountain there. Prior to being seated there was a mix up with my reservation but with it being Sunday and Father's Day I can understand. For my entree I had the Bourbon Street Pasta without the andouille sausage and it was so good and creamy. The flavor was there the next day too as my left overs. And prior to my entree I had a Greek salad that was sooooo good. Now I did have dessert but I wasn't finishing the cake it was huge it gave me vibes of the cake from the movie Matilda. I was mad that the cake didn't have ice cream because they were out. Other than that it was a good day to eat and I will definitely go back when I'm visiting. read more

I ordered the French Quarter Pasta with no added cheese on top. Babins is pretty consistent with this pasta, I've had it a few times at different locations. Great taste and they give you a good portion with bread. I ordered this pasta to go and picked it up at the bar, staff was very friendly and service was fairly quick. My personal opinion, I wish they put some kind of green veggies, like spinach in the pasta. I didn't get a chance to dine in but it was pretty slow during lunch time. We found ourselves out on a quiet Monday evening looking for a bite to eat and decided to give Babin's a try for the first time. With an almost empty parking lot and minimal crowd, we weren't sure what to expect. Our friendly waitress let us know about their Monday fish special and pointed out the large selection on the board, some varieties we had never even heard of, which was a nice surprise. We started with the fried green tomatoes and were also served a small piece of French bread for the table. The appetizer came out beautifully presented, tomato slices arranged around a marinara dip. While the dip wasn't quite my thing (I would've preferred Ranch), the tomatoes themselves were crisp and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the seafood platter and the crab cakes. The platter was generously portioned and packed with variety. The crab cakes were a standout, moist, tender, and topped with a delicious sauce that pulled everything together. Overall, it was a satisfying and hearty meal, so much so, we needed a to-go box. Definitely a pleasant first visit! read more

They have a great lunch menu for seasoned citizens. I ordered the blackened catfish with broccoli. Was very tasty. Other party members had the fried seafood plate which is very plentiful with a nice variety. The seafood gumbo was good. Warm bread is always a nice touch since a lot of restaurants have cut back on bread. Service was excellent. Arrived at 1:30 so the restaurant was not crowded but even later the table spacing was excellent for conversation. Adequate parking which is important. read more

We stop here for lunch because we love the boiled shrimp and the bread they serve is delicious. The wedge salad is also very good. We used to eat in the restaurant part but we were not fond of our waiter so we started eating in the bar which isn't quite the "full service" that you get in the back, but at least we aren't forgotten about or made to feel like we are inconveniencing someone. The bartenders are pretty good about waiting on us in the bar, but we have to do a lot of asking for things because they aren't really "waiters". It is though, one of the few places though that I would go back to on a regular basis. The food is worth it. read more

I went there for the first time it was a celebration. My daughter request the red fish plater. The server was nice, but wasn't informed that there was no red fish for the redfish platter . We were going to go to another restaurant and decided to go here because in the reviews it said the food is better, but the atmosphere is not as good as the other restaurant we were going to go to. When the server came back to tell us, there were no red fish for the $32 red fish platter, she offered another fish, but wanted to charge $10 more for all the works that came with the red fish but not with this fish. So now the $32 meal would cost $42 . I just thought they could use another fish in its place. I had a hard time dealing with that because it would seem to be a substitute. You could've used another fish in the place of the red fish to modify the dish without overcharging the customer. Running out of food it's understandable, it happens , but the server should have been informed of the run out. It was 4:00 PM and only maybe four or five tables were occupied, and I'm sure they weren't all getting the red fish, so I'm not sure how long that red fish been out, so I couldn't help but think it was being held for a later time in the day, I could be wrong. I feel the birthday dinner was ruined, not because of the meal received, but because of the way things were handled. So now, I have to do a make up meal. In the future, inform people of the shortage so that they can decide whether to stay or go. But the meal we did get was good, however, it was a little too salty, but I didn't want to complain. I understand the blacken catfish can be salty, but the salty capers could've been parsley and that's why I only ate half and took the rest home. read more

I took my mother here for her birthday, It was our first time. The ambiance is giving a New Orleans French Quarter with its vibrant color and old downtown feel. The service was excellent. Our waitress had a great personality and was very friendly. She was knowledgeable about the menu and there was so knowledgeable ch to choose from. It had that down home family feel, comfortable and cozy. The food was delicious. They give large portion so they can easily be stared. The desert was also really good. We had a great lunch today at Babin's Seafood House. We started with the Parmesan Grilled Oysters and I have to say these were some of the best we've had. Very buttery and flavorful and served with Garlic Bread. My husband got the Seafood Grill and was very happy with the choices on the plate, and delighted that the Stuffed Shrimp was literally a shrimp tucked inside a crab cake. I went for the Grilled Golden Tile and it was delicious and nicely seasoned. We had the Cajun Green Beans and Greek Salads as our sides. Overall a very good meal out. We've come to this Babin's several times over the last few weeks for their seasonal shrimp/crawfish boil. It is our favorite boil in the area because of the spices and freshness. Chelsea was our server on our latest visit and did an amazing job. She is very attentive and friendly....a real joy to work with!! We came to Babin's for lunch expecting the same standard we have always enjoyed but one dish we ordered with rainbow trout was not cooked with the usual grilling technique but it came dry and smelly to the table. Wow! I was starving when I we got here and the food did not disappoint! The server, Jade, was gracious, gave us great advice and was willing to wait until we throughly perused the menu. She popped back to check on us without hovering. As a former server. I was impressed with her! She brought us crusty French bread to eat while we waited for our openers and it was so good I devoured it. The food came out promptly and as exactly as ordered. First my husband's soup and my salad. My husband had a bowl of the chicken and sausage gumbo which was the best I've tasted in years! The roux was perfect. I had a small greek salad which came with my entree. It was also delicious. Then our mains came out. My husband had the large Greek salad and it had 1/2 dozen beautiful shrimp, feta, olives and a lovely lemony dressing. I had a dinner platter with 12 pan grilled shrimp , a bed of dirty rice and a skewer of grilled veggies, all was cooked perfectly. Everything was flavorful and fresh. There was so much I have a to go box for dinner! I looked at other diners meals as I walked out and I can't wait to come back to try some of them. They all looked incredible. Walking into the restaurant is very reminiscent of walking into restaurants in the French Quarter. Our waitress was very nice, offered suggestions and recommendations and was attentive. Everything on the seafood platter sounded so good that I couldn't resist ordering it. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach and my leftovers ended up lasting two more days.
