I've driven by this poke spot many times when visiting Costco but never came in until one Sunday afternoon. It turns out they have more than just poke here. Also on the menu are sushi burritos and boba. I ordered a 3-scoop bowl with salmon, red snapper and scallop. There was a lot of the latter 2 proteins but not much salmon, but at least it tasted fresh. Next time I will likely return for a sushi burrito. One interesting topping they have, which is complimentary, is a boiled egg. Arrived Sat 12:30 weather was nice out. Not sure why but was expecting the place to be busy. I have become a huge fan of Poke bowls and assumed they were really popular. Although technically Poke bowls are an Hawaiian dish, the Poke bowl has a heavy influence from Japan/sushi. So since a lot of people love Sushi I just figured they also love Poke Bowl as I say it is the same ingredients but in a bowl. But when I walked in I was the only customer. Afterwards a few Uber orders were picked up and a couple to go orders. Place is small with only 5 tables which is odd and maybe why orders are more to go. When I placed my order they packaged to go but once they realized I wanted in they opened the bag and handed my the order I ordered a Spicy Tuna bowl and it was very very good, great balance of flavors and portions were good. Ordered delivery on a Saturday night and was not happy with our food. The fish portions were so small (2-3 pieces of each fish) and the spicy tuna did not seem fresh. It was battered and beat to a pulp, very weird texture and not the usual spicy tuna you can expect. The portions are so small and the bowls were practically empty. We paid $18 for each large bowl (paid extra for added avocado- and barely had any avocado in there) and it was mostly filled with rice, no fish. Why 4 stars? Because this is a solid option when a poke bowl is what you're craving. --- --- --- I've had Poke Man bookmarked for a long time and finally stopped in. I initially bookmarked it because I saw that they had sushi burritos, but when I actually visited, I was craving a bowl more than a burrito. I custom built my bowl with all the fixins and was content with it. Was it the most amazing poke bowl I've ever had? No, but it hit the spot with what I was looking for. I also added Gyoza to my order and thought those were very good, as was the mango boba tea, which seemed to be made from real mango, rather than just artificial flavoring. Also, I'll add that the person working here could not have been more friendly and welcoming! The biggest gripe for us was that the plastic spork was really not great for poke consumption. It was just a bit too flimsy to really get much substance when diving in to a jam packed bowl of goodness. This would easily be solved with an upgrade to the plastic cutlery, so not a big problem to overcome. Next time: sushi burritos will be had. read more

As for the ambience and decor, It's feels like a bit of paranoia as the one persons taking the order and making the food is completely behind plexiglass but yet comes out to being you your food. I must say that the service is really good although the method to place your order is not very user-friendly. I had been ordering food from here but had never been to the place. When I went to order take out, I realized how important first impressions are. I walked in and there was a very bad smell, maybe it was a one time thing. They had a plastic hanging from ceiling to the bar, maybe in hopes to protect from covid. There was no AC and in a place with fresh seafood in the open, I tried talking to tge person but she spoke no English at all. Went for the sushi burrito, never had one before but ended up enjoying the appetizers. We had the Crispy Las Vegas Sushi Burrito the initial smell is just fishy from the seaweed wrap. The combination worked but wasn't anything special. But now for the appetizers....egg rolls (pork) perfectly cooked, crunchy, very tasty & the dipping sauce was delicious. Shrimp Tempura were kid friendly in a stick form, nice & crunchy. My absolute favorite out of everything was the Jalapeño Popper that was stuffed with cream cheese & snow crab then lightly fried, will be going back for these! Wow I am so disappointed in the Poke Man. I don't understand the high ratings. This was my one and only poor experience eating poke within the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area! I was so excited to see a poke shop just north of The Woodlands. When I walked in the basic decor restaurant which is somewhat common for poke I instantly noticed the temperature to be warm. It was very hot outside but it's very hot in the summer here. When I get poke in Spring or Houston the shops are usually very cold. I was concerned that the warm atmosphere might not be cold enough for the top layer of poke choices. I chose my poke with salad. The bowl was the tiniest I ever had for a 2 option seafood poke bowl. The lady lightly dropped the lettuce in the bowl giving it a full look. Next the poke was dropped in but was cut in itty bitty chunks like the cucumbers. It wasn't even full scoops. I was told I could choose 1 scoop of all the side items. The lady had small plastic like tongs and was very skimpy with each topping, just barely using the tongs to give me partial scoops. Anyway the price was $9.95 plus tax. I felt very ripped off. I got home and the lettuce settled in the small bowl. I was still Very Hungry afterwards. I have always been filled up getting poke at other poke shops. I even had to ask for more massago because only a few were dropped into my bowl the first time. Plus the fish was just ok. Not spoiled but warm and not uber fresh tastimg :( Not impressed with the stingy servings. I don't think I will return. ----------------------------------------------- Wow!!! Update.....really Shocked at business managers comments!!! In reality the inside circumference of my cheap little plastic poke bowl to go was approximately 5 1/2 to 6"! It was a few inches high. Also it was the Smallest Poke Bowl I was ever served poke in. I measured it to my small cereal bowl at home, that's how I know. Secondly it was a BOWL with sparingly dropped lettuce and sparingly dropped toppings from the Corner Only of the servers plastic like tongs. So Cheap!!! This Was NOT a BOX as the business business owner states. It was NOT CAPABLE OF HOLDING 32 ounces!!! See my pictures! Yes it was Warm inside! Most poke places I wear a jacket inside. I was uncomfortable warm in a light tee. Instead of realizing that I was treated poorly I was attacked with untruths by the business manager. I was so excited to try this place for the sushi burrito but while waiting on my order today the man cooking in the back came out to the prep line where the girl was prepping orders and sneezed without covering his mouth (mind you all the poke bowl ingredients are sitting out). Then he proceeded to sneeze more while in the back and not wearing gloves which I know because he walked out several times to get ingredients from the prep line. He was not wearing a mask or even attempted to cover his sneezes. I told the girl that it was not sanitary and that they should be wearing gloves while prepping as well and she just told me sorry and that she would give me 10 percent off my next order. I let her know I didn't care about that as I would not be going back and that they could get someone sick from handling food that way. They didn't even have the decency to refund my order. I will be making a formal complaint to the environmental health services in hopes that people are not risking getting sick from this establishment. read more

One of the rare poke places you'll find in North NORTH Houston.. like. Woodlands/Conroe... Houston. I digress. Found myself here after a doctor appointment with my mom. It's close to the LoneStar Montgomery College, which is not bad but price point wise.. a bit more expensive than what a college kid can afford. For a regular sized poke bowl, I paid about $21-22 for a salad base and a rice base (two bowls). With the rice bowl, the rice filled up half of the bowl. The salad, minimal. Protein was a measly scoop of two choices with the regular bowl, but they did look pretty fresh and not like they've been waiting out all day. I would say that I've had better and bigger portions of poke bowls elsewhere though. They do have a good selection of sides and were more generous with that. The other poke place I frequent charges extra for snow crab mix, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this place didn't! The lady that was preparing our bowls was really sweet and recommended adding ponzu or poke sauce around the sides to add more flavor aside from the sauces we chose. It was a great suggestion! The place is very clean and well kept, with white tables and cute little potted pallets (albeit fake lol). Steady amount of customers, but not crazy loud. I really, really wanted to like this place. It's the only poke restaurant within a reasonable drive from The Woodlands so I was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately a few things fell flat. Poke Man is set up like a Chipotle with an assembly line. It has a very modern, clean atmosphere (the pokeball-inspired logo is so cute!!). The service is very attentive and offered suggestions since I'm incredibly indecisive, which I really appreciated. Instead of paying at the end, however, you pay at the very front of the line. This made ordering slightly confusing. I paid around $10 for a regular bowl. Although the toppings and rice tasted okay, I was disappointed in the amount of fish that I received. I understand that raw fish is expensive but the ratio of toppings to fish in my bowl was very off. Most of the time I was eating rice with toppings. Hopefully this establishment can adjust the amount of fish that they dole out with each order. This place is still worth a shot, though, and a breath of fresh air from all of the fast food restaurants in the area. read more

My dad used to own a Poke shop and this is the closest thing to the flavor and taste profile that I have had ever since. To put it shortly, it quite literally brought tears to my eyes. The shop seems to be family owned and everyone who works at the shop seems to be extremely hard working. No poke shop has even can come close to the high quality poke that this shop has. The woman was extremely nice at the counter and gave me the suggestions of the shaggy role and I also got a Thai Tea. The service was great and for anyone even thinking about going, I would 100% recommend. The only thing that is stopping me from coming back everyday is the e fact that I live in the Houston loop. We tried a bunch of Bao. Unfortunately, We didn't like most of them. The teriyaki sauce they put on them is too sweet. The crab daddy had a sandy texture and was fishy. Curry Beef was very Chewy and had the sweet sauce. The pork also had the sweet sauce and some sad lettuce that didn't belong. The Shrimp and the Salmon were okay. I want so much for this place to make it. The concept is fantastic. the location is convenient. I love the focus on cleanliness, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, the price point is too high for the tiny, sloppy, and anemic burrito (see my photos). The communication barrier adds to the sense that the staff is confused. One of our poke bowls was made Chipotle-style, as we went down the line, and the other was brought to our table nearly 10 minutes later. The second time we visited, there were hand-written signs to order at the far end of the counter, where the cashier is, and told it would take 10 minutes for the two burritos we ordered to be made (it took nearly 15), despite there being nobody else in the restaurant except a table of four ladies who were waiting for there order when we came in. The boba tea tastes artificial and watered down, and they were out of tapioca pearls both times I visited. On our second visit I asked and was told they did have them, and she brought my Coconut Milk Tea out with fruit flavored jelly sinkers and told me that was what they had. In a market where competitors like Pokeworks are making customers' food as they go through the line and serving at the register, 15 minutes is an unacceptable wait. A $3.50 Boba tea ought to be made with quality ingredients (including tapioca pearls) and served in a sealed cup, not a Solo cup with a snap on lid. Our $30 meal was worth half that at most, and would still have been a disappointment. Please, PLEASE address the portion sizes or pricing, and the quality issue. I'll check back in a month or so, and hopefully be able to update my rating and review with some good news. read more
