First time here and definitely won't be the last. Stopped by with friends on a Monday evening and caught the late afternoon crowd as folks were seated around the bar or at the high tops. Was craving some Crab Fingers, and got them!! Lol also ordered the Roasted Oysters. I ordered the Live Maine Lobster. Everything was sooo good!! Something not pictured was the Crawfish. This is my least favorite Pappadeaux. The service was terrible by the first waitress. I have no name for her as she never introduced herself. She was not friendly at all and moved with no urgency. She was unsure about a menu item so we asked to speak with a manager, the manager was no better than the waitress. The item we asked about was not available, usually the manager will apologize and make other suggestions. The manager would have done better by not even coming to the table. She did not care at all and even added a little shoulder shrug once she said it wasn't an option. Had I been alone, I would have left. Moral of the story is, I will not be returning. Family decided to have an early dinner here and we left stuffed with food for the next day. It's a very popular place in a few cities and when I come to Houston I always visit. They have a pretty large menu mostly consisting of seafood options but they are great. Service is always good and Joseph, our server, was excellent and continued to make sure everything was to our liking. We started off with some apps to share like their signature garlic bread, oyster and this shrimp and crab fondue which were all amazing. Our meals came and boy were the plates huge. I got the Pappadeaux platter which was a slew of fried seafood to share. My sister got pastas and salads and fried chicken and shrimp baskets. There were no complaints at the table except my daughter not liking her catfish and Joseph quickly working to accommodate her and her he buttered noodles with Parmesan without skipping a beat. My last 2 visits were Crawfish Étouffée with dirty rice on one dine-in and a takeout of 4 Stuffed Shrimp with dirty rice on Monday night. Both very delicious, high quality, fresh, juicy and so generous with ingredients. The first was full of crawfish cooked properly and a nicely, savory sauce with a savory dirty rice you could eat all by itself. The stuffed shrimp were truly the essence of outstanding and imo, the best shrimp dish I ever had in my life. Each piece was a little crispy outside and so succulent, creamy in feel like mashed potatoes or stuffing in texture you could say and so well-seasoned. The oniony, herby vibes were spot-on and the tenderness was top notch like the taste. The shrimp tail in the middle of each was very tasty and good quality shrimp with actual flavor, not the frozen types some places use. Very welcoming, friendly and attentive service on both visits too. I am not a fan of Pappas Bbq and find Pappas Burger to be good, not great. However, I always truly loved Pappadeaux, Pappasito's, Yia Yia Mary and Pappas Bros Steakhouse. I still need to try a dessert from here next time. read more

Real time review! So I'm from Louisiana and we don't have Pappadeaux so I always look forward to visiting one while I'm in Houston but coming to this location was a mistake. My friend and I sit at the bar and it took at least 5 mins before someone came and greeted us. We ordered drinks and I ask for water with extra lemons. The bartender Khadia brought the drinks but not my water so after my food came I asked again for the water with extra lemons. She brings the water with 1 lemon so I say hey I'm going to need more can you give me a bowl of them and she says yea ma'am but proceeds to fix a few drinks before bringing me a cup with lemons in it which at that point I didn't even want them. The only other location I've been to was in Georgia and it made me excited to visit again. I finally got the chance to come to another location and it was a let down. The drinks were really bad & the food was not hitting at all at this location. The saving grace was I was with a great friend, the service was fun/friendly and the crowd was enjoying their self. I had/tried 2 drinks and can't even remember what they were called but both were poorly made...sweet and somehow taste "spoiled" at the same time. They ask for your number so they can text you when your table is ready which is great while waiting we grabbed a drink at the bar. The food let's start with a MUST HERE the fried alligator large portion about $22 or 24.95 worth it served with a sauce that tasted like Worcestershire sauce or A1 sauce. But grab the crab spinach dip both together are phenomenal paired with garlic bread very thin and crispy! Dinner ordered the Mississippi catfish and my husband got the salmon Alexander both outstanding dishes comes with dirty rice. Mississippi came with a garlic lemon butter sauce while the Alexander salmon cooked medium rare but once again cooked perfectly to a medium touch all over slightly crispy flavorful with crawfish on top with scallops around with a creamy sauce. Let's start out the year with a review of one of my all time favorite restaurants. Yes, it's part of a massive chain, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is still super good. Pappadeaux growing up was a special occasion restaurant for my family. Even as a young man, I would take dates here because it has that fancy feel to it. Fast forward to now, it's still a popular spot that is just total comfort food for me. This particular location is one of the busier ones in the city. It also happens to be next door to my car dealership so it's a good spot to eat lunch while my car gets services. I would recommend reservations if coming around dinner time or on weekends, but lunch is easy to get seated without one. Customer service is usually great. Frederick was my last server and he did an amazing job and took care of me and my lunch date. Pappadeaux is part of the Pappas chain and is their take on Cajun seafood. To start off, you have to get one of their big cocktails. Strawberry Mangeaux Tango is one of my faves on a summer day. For appetizers, I've had alot of their items but one of my surprise favorites is the Crispy Alligator. Yes, I said alligator. It really does taste like well seasoned fried chicken. So good! Their complimentary bread is great, but you can't go wrong with the garlic bread as an app as well. I have two go to dinners I rotate through. I'm a big fan of their Sampler Platter. This gives you a taste of all their fried deliciousness. It has catfish, shrimp, crawfish and chicken tenders on top a mound of delicious fries. Everyone is so well seasoned. My other favorite is the crawfish platter. This comes with a big plate with dirty rice in the center and a heaping portion of fried crawfish and crawfish etouffee. Every single item in this dish is so tasty. They really do know how to season everything here. I like the textural contrast between the fried crawfish and the etouffee. Those are my favorites, but there is so much good food to choose from. There is not many times where I have room for dessert. I'm usually taking leftovers home. On special occasions when getting dessert is not an option, I love their Key Lime Pie. It is done just right here and a great way to end a meal. There are so many good food options in Houston, but when it is solely my decision to pick a restaurant, Pappadeaux is my spot. I will be back! read more

I had dinner at Pappadeaux a few months ago. Prior to this visit, I hadn't eaten at Pappadeaux in about 20 years. We had a reservation on a Saturday night which was helpful because the restaurant was very busy. We were seated at a table kind of tucked away towards the back of the restaurant. Our server was Joseph. He was really nice and did a decent job, but he was slammed with the dinner rush. I started with a cocktail called the Spring Fling. It was good and had a spicy kick to it because of the serrano syrup and serrano pepper garnish. I don't love spicy foods/drinks, but I was able to tolerate the heat. If I were to order it again, I would ask for half the spice level. For my entree I had the Catfish Fillets. I love catfish. These fillets were really good, especially with the tartar sauce. The batter was tasty and and not overly crunchy. It came with fries and hush puppies which were yum! The portions were generous and I had plenty for leftovers the following day. read more
