We celebrated a birthday today with a party of ten. We arrived with a cake that they took for us and put in the refrigerator. The food was good and most of the meals served had a large amount of food. We were a bit disappointed with the amount of food on the Snapper plate we ordered. It was a $50 meal and other meals on the table had twice as much food and those were half the price. The cake was brought out at the end of our meal with clean plates and forks. We will be back to try other meals on the menu, as it was hard to decide today. read more

I'm usually super excited to go to Pappadeaux. Their parking lot is pretty nice-sized, so parking should not be an issue. Our server was pleasant. I attempted to order the crab and spinach dip with the garlic bread like I typically do at other locations, and my server told me if I were to order it with the garlic bread, it would be an additional charge and I would only get two. I was shocked. I've ordered that and other locations, and that was my first time hearing that I would be charged extra to swap out the bread and then on top of that only receive two pieces. I ordered the Texas redfish pontchartrain with mashed potatoes. I asked if I could add cheese, and I was told yes; however, when it came, there was no cheese, and our server took so long to return, I didn't even bother. In addition, by that time I was already turned off with the bland fish that had several bones, minimal sauce, and overcooked shrimp. I was extremely displeased. I wish I would have just stuck with a fried dish, such as the chicken tenders and shrimp. That would be a safer choice. Both the fried shrimp and chicken tenders were pretty good, but know that they have a kick. The brownie dessert was pretty good. I came here at 5:00 on a Thursday and it wasn't as crowded or busy as I thought it would be. I made reservations and was able to be sat pretty quickly. Service was not exciting or pleasant as I hoped. Our server who was a young gentleman had no enthusiasm about the table or even his job it seemed. I asked how many filets came with the shrimp and catfish and he raised his hand and shows me two fingers. That's not what I want to see as a customer, I would like the server to speak back to me as I spoke to them. I ordered the catfish and shrimp plate with grits. The catfish and shrimp were good but the grits were pretty awful. They tasted old and almost if it had been sitting for a while. The party I was with ordered an appetizer but their food came out before their appetizer which they were not pleased with either. They asked to speak to a manager and it took a while for them to come to the table although the restaurant was not busy. The manager addressed the issue and rectified the mistake. Overall I would not come back as it seems they just hire anyone to be a server who really doesn't care about the job or customers. My experience was pretty dull. read more

Pappadeaux's never disappoints! If you're pescatarian this is definitely a go to restaurant they have so many different options. The fondue is always great to start, but you have to make sure to get extra garlic bread. It's so creamy and cheesy and the bread is just a plus One of my favorites has definitely been the salmon. Alexander. Salmon is cooked perfect, the dish comes with scallops crawfish on a white sauce. It's so delicious. I recently had the pasta Mardi Gras and it has been the best pasta I've ever had thus far. So many amazing flavors combined. Came here with my nephew, who insisted on coming and sat at the bar and had a couple of Mojitos were very good, but pretty pricey. Started with half a dozen oysters for nearly $35 grilled, tasty, just not used to spending more than two dollars and oyster but nice presentation and service. I got the snapper with shrimp and he got the crawfish étouffée. Both were very good very rich, ended up taking them home because there was just way too much to eat. The service at the bar was good maybe not as attentive as I like as there seemed to be several people trying to take care of us, but the place is hustling and bustling and always crowded. I've loved Pappadeaux's in Texas and here in Atlanta and for me I guess that's a great place for business since I'm on expense account but over $250 for what was going to be a light dinner was just a bit steep for me and didn't rock my world as I would expect for these price points. Again great place, good ambience, I'm sure this fits a lot of people's expectations. Recommend.!!! Update. Came here again with another colleague made a reservation. Got a crappy table by the glass wall and the service sucked! This has become my favorite Pappadeaux location. Despite how busy they are, I've always been able to get seated promptly. The great service that I received from the bartender during my recent visit prompted me to write the review. The restaurant including the bar was packed, but the bartender consistently checked on me. The portion size was generous and definitely filling. For an appetizer, I had the mozzarella sticks. I've waited YEARS to have Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen again. So I was elated when I found out we were going for a graduation dinner. I decided to try something different this time and ordered the Pappadeaux Platter which has 2 fried catfish fillets, shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp & stuffed crab with extra fried shrimp & crawfish. It looked beautifully plated but the look was bit disappointing as it was a bit bland. I will say my server understood and graciously advised that I select something else and took my plate. I honestly expected that there would be resistance but the customer service was very good. I went with the ATLANTIC SALMON ALEXANDER Grilled salmon, shrimp, scallops, crawfish, white wine cream sauce and substituted the rice with a loaded baked potato. It was LOADED! It was gorgeously plated with healthy portions of sour cream, butter, chives, cheese and bacon. I wasn't able to enjoy with my family BUT given the circumstances, it was to be expected. The food was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed a portion for breakfast and lunch. I wasn't really a scallop fan but these are so good, the salmon is so fresh and flaky, shrimp are of a good size and just delish! I made a reservation for a Saturday evening and upon arrival my table was instantly available. The hostess greeted us warmly and we were passed along to our waiter Justin. Pappadeux WAS one of my favorite restaurants but this location is horrible! I should have known my meal was going to suck when the manager had an attitude because I have a shrimp allergy! She came to supposedly speak to me about the allergy cooking process and wanted to charge me $10 to sub out the shrimp! So I said just give me the shrimp I'll give it to my sister who eats shrimp, she immediately got an attitude and never said anything about the allergy cooking process which I know verbatim because I am used to receiving it as I eat Pappadeaux often. I then got my crispy salmon dish which was super greasy (not the usual way it's served, it's usually one of my fav dishes here) it also didn't have any scallops and minimal crab. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. And I was getting food for a friend that's never been and I spoke so highly of the food I also ordered the medium calamari which was a joke! Just go to the Jimmy Carter location, the Duluth location is just NOT IT! I should have know not to give them another chance when I came last week and sat at the bar, I was drinking my drink and begun to feel liquor dripping down my leg. The glass randomly broke while I was drinking. The bartender was so unconcerned said "you good, ok I'll make another one" no apology, no rush to clean up the spilled drink which was all down my leg and all over the floor. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a big welcome and a big smile from the hostess. We were seated quickly and the server, DJ, although he was helping someone else acknowledged us. DJ was friendly, great customer service, great smile and knowledgeable of the menu. The bread must be made on site, if not, they have fooled me because that is some of the best bread we have eaten and that whipped butter is the best!! My husband had the redbeans with catfish, which he enjoyed. He didid mention the catfish was lightly seasoned and that's why he used the ketchup I had a cup of the gumbo with the shrimp poboy. The gumbo had lots of fresh seasoning and a good bit of shrimp. It wasn't NOLA gumbo,but it had a good taste with a kick of spice. I enjoyed it. The food, service, the energy, and the consistency always bring me back. I almost always start with the oysters -- they're fresh every single time, briny and perfect with just a dash of lemon. If you're lucky enough to catch the crab cakes when they're in season, don't hesitate -- they're the best I've had anywhere. I also love getting the steak with a lobster add-on -- a classic combo done right, juicy and rich. Their seafood gumbo is a favorite of mine -- hearty, bold, and full of flavor. And honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything I've tried has been delicious. When the weather's nice, I love hanging out in their outdoor area -- there's a beautiful fountain in the center that makes it feel like a mini escape. All in all, this place feels like home. Yesterday, December 11th, my family and I were enjoying a very delicious meal with good service. All of a sudden I bit on something that felt like a rock! It broke off part of my crown into pieces. I asked for the manger who handled the situation professionally by writing up an incident report and taking pictures. We didn't ask them to or were expecting them to but they removed my meal. Today I received a call from their corporate office. She stated that they would send me a gift card but would not help me with the dental bills. She said because I got the seafood platter that it could happen... So basically if you eat there and you break a tooth they're not going to help you, really? I worked in the restaurant industry most of my life and I've never ever worked at a restaurant that would not help somebody out in this situation. I'm very disappointed and seeking a lawyer. read more

PAPPADEAUX is by and large my favorite restaurant in the US. A bold claim but I stand behind it. It's consistently amazing and I know what I'm getting every time I go (and the service is always great too). Sadly though, this location did not meet the level of expectations that I have for Pappadeaux. Ambiance was perfect, just like the other locations. Service was terrific too. But the food LACKED. I got my usual order- "Crispy" Salmon with Octopus, cooked in olive oil served with green beans and a side of plain grilled catfish. I got exactly what I asked for (and no butter) however, the olive oil "finish" was hinted with the flavor of lemon and I ABHOR the taste of lemon, so I was ever so slightly turned off by my salmon. On top of that, the octopus was chewy and kind of slimy. It wasn't cooked enough. My catfish was great though. Look, don't get me wrong, I licked my plate clean but while I was, I was wishing we went to our typical Pappadeaux location. My husband loves this spot too but his meal lacked as well. He said his salmon was the smaller portion he has ever had and while he asked for WELL DONE, the salmon was still slightly raw on the interior. The food was exceptional, the experience was a disaster! Their attitudes to service are unbelievable terrible. They seated us 20 minutes after our reservation time, we then waited an additional 10 minutes to get menus because only the waiter can give them to you; once we were introduced to the waiter we waited almost 20 minutes for drinks and appetizers. Our food came out separately so we didn't eat together. The cheques were separated in two but they came in the same case and we were required to respond in kind. I'll admit, I'm a bit spoiled by Mayport shrimp and very particular about how I like them prepared. For me, shrimp should "pop" when you bite into them, much like broiled lobster. The shrimp here were a little chewy for my taste, so I let my husband enjoy them instead--and he really liked them. The grouper, though, was incredibly moist and flavorful--absolutely amazing! The lump crab was moist, flaky, and prepared just the way I love it. Service was nice. I feel the waiters could have checked in us more. We got our food quick, but had to wait to get the check, pay the bill and close out the meal. This is cute a spot! We were able to talk and dine, nothing compromised our conversation. We've been here a number of times, but stopped coming a couple years ago. No bad reason. Just wanted to explore other restaurants. We wanted seafood, and decided to come back. Their food is delicious, and full of flavor. Service is also excellent. What we were disappointed in was the prices went up, and portions went down. And unfortunately, it's a very noticeable change on both counts. I ordered the grouper, and highly recommend it. Wife ordered red snapper, which was also good, but not as good as the grouper. Of course, we used our free appetizer coupon with purchase of 2 entrees. That's what brought us in lol. First let me say our server Bryant was EXCELLENT. He kept a check on us without being annoying. We chose the crab and spinach app and it was good but kinda meh. Since we are over 62, we ordered from the lunch menu which is a plus, I had the fried platter that included catfish, shrimp, and chicken tenders that I was allowed to exchange for shrimp. So, I had one piece of fried catfish (over fried I might add) and 7 shrimp with fries. My friend had fried shrimp with fries odd thing was he received 11 shrimp, so I gave him one of mine for an even dozen. Sad to say the flavor and ump for the prices just want there this visit. As always this place is loud even at 4:30 pm but at least this time we didn't get seated all the way in the back by the restroom (my friend uses a cane) but we were seated fairly close to the door.
