Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen did NOT disappoint ! We ordered a mix of fried seafood, oysters, and a loaded baked potato, and everything was so flavorful and satisfying. The fried platter was crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. The shrimp and fish were cooked perfectly, and the portions were definitely generous. The oysters were a standout, fresh, buttery, and topped with so much flavor. And that loaded baked potato... stuffed with all the good stuff and honestly a meal on its own. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lively (it does get busy, but that just shows how popular it is). If you're craving seafood that's rich, flavorful, and actually hits, this is the spot. I came back because the last time I was here the service was poor! Someone there must have read my review and sent me a gift card. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were excellent. They suggested for a drink the Peach Sidecar. That drink was awesome, made to perfection. I got the shrimp gumbo and the 1/2 Shrimp Poorboy. It definitely took longer than normal for me to get my food. But when I got it, it was hot fresh and tasty. The ambience of Pappadeaux's was usual and acceptable. I've been coming here for years and just realized I never left a review. Pappadeaux is a Houston staple. And I will be frequenting them more often during lent. I usually order the crawfish combo but swap out the fried crawfish for sautéed crawfish, it's not on the menu but that's the way I've been ordering it for years. They also offer Mango flavoring with their sweet tea. The bread service is simple but solid. And their staff is always top notch. read more

We came to Pappadeaux on a Sunday around 5pm. It wasn't very crowded and we were able to get a table right away. We started off with a couple drink. My friend had the swamp thing, which is a classic, and I went with the pineapple refresher cocktail. The refresher was light but strong at the same time lol. Came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday and had a great experience from the start. We made a reservation for seven and were seated immediately upon arrival -- always a plus. Our server, Adreanna (forgive me if I misspelled it), was friendly and attentive, which set the tone for the night. I ordered my go-to drink, the Purple Voodoo, along with the Knife & Fork Salad topped with shrimp -- and it did not disappoint. If you've read my reviews, you already know I'm serious about a good salad, and this one was that. Fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. The Cajun-style vinaigrette was unexpected but paired perfectly with the dish and really brought everything together. I miss what Pappadeaux used to be. So many of my old favorites are no longer on the menu. What's on the menu now ranges from good enough to mediocre to forgetable but rarely wows, especially at the current prices. Granted the portion sizes are huge for most items. Service tends to be hit or miss although to be fair to our latest waitress, she was good - friendly and attentive. My family noted that the French bread, while very tasty and a great Pappadeux offering, has possibly changed to have more preservatives. It used to be that if you took home some bread, it was guaranteed to be hard the next day. It's no longer the case. This location is spacious but can get loud during peak hours. read more

Hubby had a lunch date here and he always gets me a Greek salad whenever he goes to Pappadeaux. To my surprise what I received was anything but... I've had this salad more than more than 20 or 25 times, so I know how it's made. My salad had two lonely shrimp, no olives, no capers, no celery, no pepperoncini & no oregano. The only veggies were bell peppers, tomatoes & cucumbers...so basically a house salad. They get one star for not skimping on the feta, but nothing more. Needless to say, no more Greek Salads for us, we don't waste money on things we can make better at home. read more

Something has definitely changed at this location. It used to be super consistent, now it's a roll of the dice. On my latest visit dinner started off so well. My wife and I started with the roasted oysters and seafood fondue. The oysters were impressive and the fondue was delicious as usual. Then came the wait... It took another 30-45 minutes for our entrees to arrive and when they did my dish was incomplete. I ordered the seafood platter with a loaded baked potato. I was presented with a bare plate of catfish, shrimp and the puniest stuffed shrimp I have ever received at any Pappadeaux's location. As our server was packing up her tray and stand I inquired about my baked potato and she told me they were out of potatoes. Wtf?!?! You had 45 minutes to tell me this before our food came out and now I'm presented with an entree with no sides and you were just gonna walk away if I didn't question you??? Completely unacceptable. I got french fries to replace the potato and while I was waiting for the fries I noticed that there were no oysters included with my platter. When the fries were brought out I asked to speak with someone running this operation and a guy who appeared to be no more than 22 years old showed up and offered us a free dessert. Lol. Do I look like a child that can be appeased with an ice cream cone??? Another "manager" (who looked just as young as the last one) arrived and did their best to remedy the situation but the damage had already been done and my wife and I just wanted out of there. I have been a Pappas guy for 30 years (check out my review for Pappas BBQ) but after this evening and the overall inexperienced leadership vibe I was getting from this location I am seriously considering switching to Tilman Fertitta and the Landry's brand or Rouxpour as my local Cajun destination. I will give this location another shot because I live very close to it but it feels like every year prices go up, portions go down and quality and consistency are no longer priorities. At this price point I don't expect a Michelin level dining experience but I also don't want to deal with the same mistakes that you would have from somewhere like Captain D's. Sooooo good! My party walked in and was immediately seated. The wonderful complimentary bread was provided upon seating. It might be the top 3 best bread I've had at a restaurant. I ordered the Madi Gras Pasta which had chicken, shrimp and sausage and the flavor was impeccable. I also ordered a Mango Tanguex frozen cocktail which was really good. Went to this Pappadeaux's for the first time since I moved back to Texas.... It was absolutely wonderful. Emerie was our waitress and the service she gave us was amazing and professional. About the food- I ordered the 3pc catfish with fries, the fish was cooked to perfection ( I had requested that the fish be fried hard, but not burnt. The fries were also cooked the same and lightly seasoned. My drink of choice was sweet tea and ice water. Every one enjoyed their meals tremendously. The oysters and the bread were definite highlights and easily the best parts of the meal. I heard great things about this place. This was my first time here. We was a party of 6, but we was seated right away but we was waiting on another couple. However we ordered some appetizers. Alligator bites and some garlic Oyster. The appetizers were delicious. The last couple finally showed up and we ordered our main entrees. Unfortunately, the Customer service was not great yesterday. I was at the bar and the waitress was lackluster. It took forever for her to even take our order and no real interaction after that. Then we waited and waited and waited for our ticket asking two other people, but they seem to be frustrated or bothered and then we finally flagged down somebody . I asked what happened to our waitress and they said she had that shift had already left. She didn't tell us that she was leaving to close out the ticket well hell she never even introduce herself to us to begin with just kind of looked at us. They seated us promptly for our 7:15pm Saturday night reservation. They were busy but not overly crowded. They have a very large, inviting bar area. I'd like to come back for happy hour. They also have a very cool looking outdoor seating area for waiting and for dining. Server was very attentive. I wanted to order the sea bass but they weren't offering it because they were out of the lobster topping. The server had the manager come by and he offered the sea bass with whatever alternate seafood toppings (shrimp/scallop/crab) I wanted. Appreciated the customer service! Chilean sea bass tasted buttery & had great flavor. It didn't look like your typical sea bass; it was such a thin cut ( I asked twice if it was really 'Chilean' sea bass & they said yes!) Regardless, its quite good as were the brussel sprouts. We also had a grilled lobster tail order at our table. Lobster was a little over cooked. Broccolini was surprisingly a highlight on the plate! They do a great job altering for dietary needs (lactose intolerant) & still maintaining great flavor. Husband had perfectly cooked red snapper with olive oil substituted for butter in the sauce. Glazed carrots have cinnamon, not my fav, but hubby loved it. Side of red beans & rice were full of flavor. I left my jacket at the table & called the restaurant when I got home. They took the time to go back to the table twice to look for it. They found it behind the booth seat & I easily retrieved it the next day. I greatly appreciated the extra effort! Pappadeaux is a seafood chain restaurant that I've found to be pretty consistent location to location---food is flavorful, nice portion sizes, multiple side item choices, great cocktails, good service. This was one of my most underwhelming and unpleasant experiences, as a customer to a restaurant establishment. Before reading further, please note that I have years of previous experience in the restaurant industry, so if this establishments location truly wants to improve they will wholeheartedly take this as feedback, upon which they can improve by. 1. The server didn't even introduce themselves. They did ask how we were doing, but then immediately went into asking what we wanted to drink. If I were undercover shopper, this individual would immediately have lost two points right then & there. 2. No eye contact or personality - which I understand is not a requirement in the industry, but adds to the value, as people are coming to your establishment instead of their own dining room to have their evening meal with their loved ones. 3. When our drinks were empty, there was no ask of if we would like another one during the next stop by our table. Only when our meal came out, did they ask if we would like another drink. As a server, you always want to make sure that your tables have a full drink, as this is additional tip for not only the server but then also the bartenders who are actually making the drinks. 4. When we were ready for boxes, our server at this point wasn't able to be located and I flagged down another server who had AirPods in watching a game/show... Or something on their phone walking around the restaurant like it was normal and I said excuse me twice to him before getting his attention. 5. Mind you, during this whole time, I believe the manager, who was dressed in primarily khaki clothes was at the bar having friendly conversations with a patron or customer, having plenty of laughs and did not once check on other customers. These were the top five issues that I personally had with this establishment during my experience. I don't know if others have experiences as well, but I truly hope not, as I had previously brought a client of mine to a different popular location earlier in the week, off of 290 and had a very pleasant experience. If I could put zero stars, I would. My Aunt wanted to come here for her birthday so another family member made a reservation for 5pm. Upon arrival closer to 4:50 we were told that we would have an hour or so wait. During this hour, we saw many parties just as big as ours go inside after arriving after us. By 6:15, we still had not been seated so some of the family went inside to figure things out. They were told that the tables were being cleaned to prep for us; Great! WRONG. They notified the other large party, that did in fact arrive after us, that it was for them. They messed up on their end because both reservations were under similar names. Of course a family member of ours spoke up and said no, you just told me those were for us, so they in turn moved the other party to get us seated after waiting almost an hour and a half. Upon sitting down, we were met with two different waiters (we were seated at 2 eight top tables to accommodate us). The waiter who was assigned to my table brought over waters, which many of the cups were dirty or had stuff floating in the water. Upon ordering, he notified me that the potato puree that came with my meal was out, to which I asked if I could do a baked potato instead as a substitute. He said yes and continued on. During our dining experience he would disappear for big periods of time to the point we had to ask other waiters/waitresses to bring new water cups since he was no where to be found. His attitude unfortunately did not improve our dining experience, it made us rethink the possibility of coming back. Once our checks finally arrived, I noticed that I had been charged for the baked potato that was in place of the potato puree that they were out of. Upon recognizing this I asked if this is something that can be taken off as it was a substitution. He then says I hear you but the baked potato is always extra. Sir, if you're out of an item, then you need to start naming things off that can replace that item and if a customer asks for something that's an additional charge then you also relay that information. He tells me he's going to go talk to a manager, which he walks away and is giggling up until he notices that we are in fact looking at him to make sure he actually talks to a manager. They decided to "comp" the baked potato by adding the veterans discount on the check which I am grateful for. This service alone tells me that I will not be back at this location, or maybe even at all to Pappadeaux. Your attitude as a server needs to be positive and like you like your job; if you don't want to be there, simply don't! Side note: He also asked me if I wanted my Salmon medium or medium well...
