9 years ago I spent a lot of time in Texas for work and I completely fell in love with TX BBQ. Oh brisket ... oh I cry myself to sleep at night wishing you were melting in my mouth ... how I yearn for your succulent delights .... but I digress. Pappas is a solid example of Texas BBQ. It is part of a "chain" of restaurants so there is a certain level of authenticity which you feel is lost, but the food and the sauces are still solid. This particular location is kind of quirky, the drive-through attendant is a bit "speedy" if you will; but as per usual the food is always excellent. The pork sausage is where it's at though you can't go wrong ordering just about anything off the menu. Freaking PRICEY though, for barbecue especially. Terrible I am so disappointed. I went to papas because I wanted some barbecue I live in Splendora which I am about 25 minutes away from Humble but decided to drive when I got there I waited in the drive- thru for about 20 minutes. I ordered a chopped beef brisket baked potato fully loaded and a two meat plate of sausage and sliced beef brisket the Jumbo Size for $18 I got home excited and opened to see this. What's this! I thought it was the fixings for the baked potato! I PAID $18 dollars for this! I called spoke to Yolanda I told her the problem the phone hung up As she was telling someone my issue. Then I called back after 20 rings Roger answered. Advised that it was correct was a 1/4 meat but I asked for sliced and Jumbo. This isn't sliced this is left over gristle and 5 cut pieces of sausage. I spent $36.70! I won't be going back! I should have stuck with the baked potato it had more meat then that! Roger didn't even offer any help. Just terrible customer service!! read more

Well, today I decided to use the card, card was for 15.00. Fries were old and hard. Said no onions but onions all over. 2meat combo looked like a child's plate. 35.00. The best thing about Pappa's BBQ is the smell. Just so-so BBQ. Sauce is weak, no spicy sausage & the regular sausage I would not order again. This morning, I went to Pappas BBQ expecting a delicious breakfast sandwich to start my day. What I received was a breakfast sandwich with mold on it. I went back to the drive-thru window and showed the cashier the mold on the sandwich. She left and returned with her manager, who told me that it was "a part of the bread." Wow. I didn't realize bread was supposed to be green. The manager handed me a refund and sent me on my way. No "I'm sorry for giving you bread that could have made you sick" or "Is there any way that we can make this right?" Nothing. As someone who's worked in the food industry and spent quite a bit of money at this location, I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service and will not be spending my hard-earned money here anymore. But, if mold is "a part of the bread" at your house, you'll love this place. read more

I was very disappointed with the lack of speed in the drive through and the product that we finally received. I got a baked potato with "everything" but to my surprise they had added the desired items to my potato but in such meager amounts. It was pitiful. I will say that they gave me the sauce on the side, why? when they had added everything else. Next time? I will be more specific and let them know to give me my add-ons in a cup not on my potato and the unfriendly cashier did nothing to encourage a return visit. Additionally, If it takes 30 minutes to get through a drive through, somebody really needs to work on that aspect of customer service! read more

This is by far a nasty dirty restaurant. We came here on a Sunday evening to dine in and the entire restaurant was dirty. No tables available, because all the dirty dishes were still on them, the floor had BBQ sauce all over it. This place is a lawsuit about to happen if someone slipped and hurt themselves badly. Do not go in the morning to get the breakfast tacos. For the past 3 weeks when I've gone to get tacos, It's been over a 1/2 hour wait. Not every day, but specifically on Fridays. The 1/2 Hour wait is just to get to the order microphone. It has been an additional 10 to 15 minutes just to get to the window to get the order. I've spoken to a Manager (Mike) and all he says is "we are trying". No You Are Not! They need to figure out a way to get the large orders out quicker or in the restaurant itself. Oh, and big surprise, when I got my order, it was wrong. If you have an HOUR to spend waiting in your car for food that is mediocre once you get it. Go for it. If not, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! The manager Manny Garcia displayed the worst attitude this evening over a order I was trying to place. I have ordered chopped chicken fries at Paapas bbq on 1960 in houston many times with no issues. I asked this location could they do it they said no. The manager stated they can do what they want at their restaurant and he can do what he wants at his. Very rude, spoke to me like trash, didn't ask me was there anything else they could help me with. Just moved on to the next customer as if I didn't exists. Then when I asked for corporate number her gladly wrote it down gave me the number and said have a blessed day with a smirk and a attitude. Clearly he treats customers like this frequently. I will be sharing this experience with my family and on Yelp so this neighborhood is aware of the disrespect this restaurant is ok with treating their paying customers with. I'm a single mom I have no money and I really just wanted to treat myself to a nice hot dinner after a long day of overtime for my family. I chose to spend money at your establishment just to be treated poorly. Very disappointing experience. I'm crying typing this because once again I'm a broke single mom and I wanted to simply enjoy a hot meal and now I feel defeated. It would be nice for someone to look into this further and possibly retrain Mr. Garcia to be a little bit more respectful and patient as well as understanding during a time like this in the world. I'm starting to believe I'm not getting what I I've order on purpose! This is ridiculous!! This is the 3rd time my order has been wrong , it repeated back to you correctly and it's correct on receipt but when I get home and take out the food it's wrong, something seriously need to be done about this. The meat was really good & it is really cool that you can watch them cooking/smoking the meat but the sauce is lousy & the fries that my daughter got tasted sour. The food was good. I had a chopped baker, hubby had 2 meat plate with 2 sides. The bar with the fixings looked stocked and fresh. That's about all I can say that was good. The service was not good at all. My husband had to repeat his order to 3 different people, they kept walking away when he was ordering and then someone else would ask, now what did you order? Aside from the fixings station, the remainder of the restaurant was dirty and in disarray. We seriously had to walk by no less than 12-14 empty tables that were full of dirty dishes, not cleaned, to find a place for two all the way in the back near the window. This was the worst BBQ I've ever had!! A friend from out of state wanted BBQ Ribs, so took them there. It was horrible. The ribs were so tough & fat! Even the baby back ribs!!! Pappas was not impressive at all. My potato was ok, they were out of the meat I wanted (it was close to closing though). So I had to get the chopped brisket which was good but no flavor. I like this place, the only BBQ chain around that has a drive thru, thank god because today it was 98 degrees I was so happy that I didn't have to get out my car to order.
