    Gyro platter
    Tony I.

Stopped in to Pappas to get a quick bite to eat and wow what a selection of food they had so I decided on the saganaki for starters and wow it was out in no time and I'll have to get two next time so I don't have to share with anyone lol . So I was a little undecided on which way to go so I stayed in Greece and have the gyro platter and my wife got the open face turkey sandwich which she loved said it reminded her of her childhood ok so the salad came with the meal and then before I finish my salad the entrees came out pretty quickly and needless to say was pretty good but I only had a couple of bite I was too full and didn't want to overdo it as I usually do but I'm going to come back they have a huge menu both breakfast and dinner so I'm in for a few more trips to Pappas with their great servers and quality foods Thanks

    Cold, gummy, omelette. Mushy potatoes.

Sophie and family give this restaurant the old time feel that is sadly missing in too many of today's establishments.

Our family of 8 went to the Golden Bear Pancake & Crepery in Alsip Illinois for breakfast on the…read moreday that we were all leaving to return home after a fun weekend together. The Golden Bear gave us grrrrreat service and food that is above average in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I wish I could remember the name of our server. She was fantastic! Friendly, smiling the whole time, got an order for 8 people perfect and continued to check back on us throughout the entire meal. She worked so hard and we all enjoyed her company. She was fantastic! The atmosphere is really charming in an old world kind of way. Let's call it 1950's gone wild! Timber wallpaper, murals with lakes, trees, mountains, clouds and - yes - even bears! But it was cute and charming and clean and felt comfortable. With 8 people, we had many different dishes. All servings were very large - I could not finish my omelette. By the way - I have one problem to pick with the Golden Bear people. There was a Turkish omelette, a Polish sausage omelette, a Mexico City omelette and a Santa Fe omelette BUT NO GREEK OMELETTE!!!! To be fair, there is a spinach & feta cheese omelette but it's called - unceremoniously - a spinach & feta cheese omelette. If the owners can squeeze out all those other countries and locations, please call the damn spinach & feta omelette a GREEK OMELETTE!!! Of course, I am Greek so this problem really stood out for me. I mentioned it to our server and she sympathized with me. That's how good she was!!! So, bottom line, do I recommend the Golden Bear? Yes, I do. It is like walking back into history, getting some filling food and enjoying some excellent service!!! Do not feed the bears though, ok???? Just feed yourself and you will be glad you did!

Pleasantly surprised. Very decent breakfast. Large portions and well priced…read more We will be back Btw. The crepes are really good

We went here for a family gathering. They had 3 tables reserved for approximately 30 people. We…read morewalked in and they showed us to the table. The place was pretty busy and people were having a good time. The dinner was setup for family style which started off with bread and soup, salad, mashed potatoes, veggies then the main courses. We weren't sure if our son who has allergies was able to eat the food so we asked the server. The soup, bread was a no. The salad yes, but not the dressing. They did give him vinegar and oil. The chicken and beef we weren't sure so we ordered him a steak and mushrooms with a baked potato. The server was very helpful with helping us with our questions. When the food started coming out, a new server gave him the soup and the server that helped us warned us that he couldn't have it and I truly appreciated that. They come out with soup in a metal bucket and they ladle the soup into our bowls. The soup was ok but it was cold and the pasta noodles were mushy. The salad was good and the ranch was homemade and was tasty, I wish it was a little more thicker. The mashed potatoes were just ok and were cold as well. The veggies were not good, cold and could use some seasoning. The bread was the star for me. It was nice and crisp on the outside and has melted butter. I wanted to eat it all but I'm trying to cut down on carbs. The pasta had sausage and chunks of the sausage went into the sauce, the chicken and London broils looked good. Overall, the service was good. The bread and salad was good. The soup could have been better is hot and firmer pasta. Mashed potatoes had potential but it was just ok, pass on the veggies. And the meat appeared like it was good. My son's steak was cooked as desired and said it was good but the sautéed mushrooms were missing and we didn't really bother to ask for them. Being with family was great and that's what mattered at the end of the day. But if we were ever to come back, family style is an easy pass.
