    Sliced brisket

Service is horrible, slow and inattentive. Sliced brisket was mostly all fat. Okra was bland with no flavor. Took 45 mins to get food then another 20 mins waiting on the check.

Pappy's Place is a " Great Retro " Cafe / Bar on Main Street in Springfield, Missouri around the Historic District of Midtown ! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is impeccable like the five stars ***** restaurants in New York City ! This cafe is operated by Susan + Tara, both " wonderful + fabulous personalities ", so friendly ensuring their customers enjoys their dining experience and the food is so delicious ! Their barbecue meats are moist, juicy and succulent, the meats falls off the bone. Their 10oz burgers are " to die for " on a grilled bun with all the toppings with our favorite " pepper Jack cheese " to top it all ! Then the several different varieties of barbecue sauces to choose from !! Also, their side dishes are pretty awesome, we recommend the French Fries, Fried Okra, Onion Rings and the Fried Mushroom. Their side dish of beans paired with their six hours slow cooked " Smoked Barbecued Ribs " are so delicious, it's a must try !!! Pappy's Place is now " one of ours favorite place " in the Historic Midtown neighborhood to enjoy lunch or a early dinner because the dining experience is so awesome and the food is consistently delicious and the friendliness of Susan + Tara, we feel like Springfieldian stars ! We highly recommend this awesome place ! William * Craig NYC / SGF

My parents took me to this place when I was a weeee lad. Family has been going to this little place and had a connection with it for my entire life. Recently got to take my wife and son there during our visit to family after recently retiring from the USMC. Could not have been happier with the awesome food, great music and amazing friendly service.

Finally made into this iconic place. Trying the ribs, and will post a full review.

Had to go three times to be sure .... yup, spectacular. It's a little neighborhood dive bar looking place with top shelf Que. Runs 1st time rocked. Our preference is without sauce, so had to scrape off .... no doubt we'll try it again and ask for no sauce. Tender but not mushy spare ribs with enough smoke and a good rub. The pulled pork sandwiches are generous, and great. Smokey, moist, and a hint of sweetness in the rub. Needs zero sauce, but theirs are good. A tomato based and a golden, mustardy one. Inside is full of their history with photos and memorabilia of the place over the years. It's been some kind of business since early 1900s. Go. Go twice. Monday and Tuesday is their Porkstrami sandwich .... we went with ribs, and I regret it.

Small okra with the daily special. Large smoked pork sandwich with fries and pickle slices on the side.

Brisket nachos are amazing! I added green olives to it and it was so good. Can't wait to try the smoked wings. Going again soon!

Menu on their own website and Facebook page isn't accurate and prices won't be honored. Don't advertise prices and then charge more.

It sits off the main drag, the kind of bar you notice only after you've driven past it a dozen times. But step inside, and you'll realize it's one of those rare places that still knows what a bar is supposed to be. The lights are low, the air is easy, and the bar top -- polished smooth from years of elbows and stories -- gleams under the amber bulbs. The bartender greets you like an old friend, even if you've never been here before. He keeps a clean bar, tight and organized, every glass shining like it's got a reputation to uphold. People don't come to KJ Brewskies for the food. Sure, there's something hot and fried if you need it, but this isn't a place for plating or pretense. You come here for the people, the atmosphere, the simple comfort of a cold beer that doesn't cost you half a paycheck. The jukebox doesn't take quarters anymore -- progress, I suppose -- but the music's still good. Old country. Classic rock. Songs that sound better when they're a little too loud. Over in the corner, someone's lining up a pool shot. Darts whistle through the air. Shuffleboard pucks slide and kiss the end of the table with a satisfying clack. What makes this place special, though, is how it shifts with the seasons. When the weather turns warm, they throw open the doors and roll out the crawfish pots. It's all elbows, laughter, and the unmistakable smell of spice and beer in the air. Fall might bring a chili cook-off, winter maybe a small charity drive -- each one another excuse for the regulars and newcomers alike to gather, eat, drink, and remember what community feels like. KJ Brewskies isn't trying to be anything more than what it is. It's a good bar -- honest, lived-in, alive. A place to forget the headlines, to talk about nothing important, to exist for a few hours without explanation. Places like this are getting harder to find. And maybe that's why, when you walk out into the night -- the jukebox still humming behind you -- you already know you'll be back.

They have a jukebox when there isn't karaoke running 4 nights a week. It's actually pretty big for a dive, with a huge seating area in the front, as well as the back. They offer two stages; one in the main part of the bar, and the other outside where you may also smoke. Although they don't use them much because they don't have live music often "which I think is a bummer." On a positive note they are still the cheapest place in town. Here you are still able to get a bottle of beer for under $2.50

We chose some comfy chairs next to the large windows that overlook downtown Springfield. I'm absolutely obsessed with the ambiance. It was dark, moody, classy, and modern. I bet it looks very different during the day when all the natural light comes through! Our sever Elias was quite memorable! He's very attentive and personable, and his outgoing, bubbly personality is contagious. For reference, he literally skipped around rather than walking as he went to and from our table to check on us. It seemed like he was having so much fun and genuinely enjoys working there. I enjoyed a glass of sauvignon blanc. Very small glass for the price in my opinion, but no complaints about the taste. My partner had an espresso martini that was also served in a rather small glass, but it was strong and delicious. Love that they offer so many mocktail options on their menu as well! Next time I'm in town, I'd love to visit again to sit outside and try some of their appetizers. Everything sounded amazing!
