    Tri Tip and cheese enchilada
    Israel G.

Right off the 101 It's a staple And the food is consistently good I tried their tri tip with cheese enchilada, with rice and beans. Ok. So good! Great service. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. No issues. Clean bathroom too This experience makes me want to go back more often

Fresh, big Cobb salad from this page of the menu

We loved our breakfast here last Sunday! We sat at the counter and watched the kitchen turn out the great big plates of yummy diner food. Beer and mimosas available (darn, they were out of the sparkly for mimosas that morning). We had the chicken fried steak with gravy, potatoes, and biscuit, and the Cobb salad for health. Both were huge. That gravy is the stuff southern dreams are made of. A fine quality steak for the chicken-fried treatment! Salad: fresh. Really nice, ripe avocado. Great blue cheese crumbles. Super friendly service, despite the busy Sunday afternoon. Lots of fun photos to see on the walls. Solid diner coffee. Will return!

    Club Sandwich with fries

A traditional restaurant with s vast menu for any desired taste. The inside is welcoming and decorated with the history of Santa Maria Valley. The Club sandwich I ordered was an ideal example of what a Club sandwich should be. Toasted bread created the perfect layers of turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Along with the sandwich were freshly fried fries, that really hit the spot. I also had a cup of their Friday only Clam Chowder that hit on all notes. The menu is extensive, the service is diner-worthy, and you will not be disappointed stopping in and experiencing Pappy's wares.

    Nachos with chicken.

We were leaving the beach to head back home and decided to stop and eat at this gem. Party of 6, seated right away. It was semi busy, a little loud but not bad. I ordered the nachos and added chicken, they were delicious. The ranchera sauce they put on them really boosted the flavor. They had a huge variety on their menu. I would definitely go back, but would want to try something else to see what else is good. Our waitress was very friendly.

Pappy Sized Breakfast with my requested "extra crispy" hashbrowns.

The Pappy Sized breakfast! Scrumptious food and generous portion sizes and they don't skimp. I asked for "extra crispy" hash browns and they accommodated. I especially recommend the Pappy Sized Breakfast. The Santa Maria cowboy style ambiance is quite unique, fun and sets this diner apart from the rest!

Food: 4. Came by on a Thursday around noon. Place was moderately busy. Had to wait a bit before I was seated. Beverage order was quick but food order was a bit slow. I ordered Pappy's Meatloaf Dinner. I asked if I could swap the "steamed fresh vegetable" with the pinquito beans. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. I chose a salad instead of soup. Salad and salad bowl were nicely chilled. I like my salad cold. Simple salad of iceberg, green leaf, and croutons but I enjoyed it. Meatloaf was good and it was a nice size portion. Mashed potatoes had potato skins and it was good. Beans were flavorful. Garlic bread was nicely toasted and buttered. The next time I visit, I will try a different dish than meatloaf as it was just good (3.5). Service was mostly good. Ambiance is diner-ish and comfortable. Service: 3.75 Ambiance: 3.75 Value: 3.5

Santa Maria Tri Tip Sanwich and fries - $18

Excellent and friendly service. I had the Santa Maria Tri Tip Sandwich with fries. Served with salsa and ranch, you can ask for bbq sauce too. The bun was toasted to perfection, such a nice crunch! Asked for medium cooked but it came well done, still was tender and tasty.

Sunday mornings are meant to be leisurely but this time we were in a rush. We had actually slept in until 7am, normally up by 5am without alarms. The hubs event started at 9am so we made the quick drive for a to go order, calling two blocks from the restaurant after glancing at the menu. We both decided the first item on the menu we would try; Orcut Hash, did sourdough toast and homemade biscuit We had just a couple minutes to sit and order iced tea to go. Before the server could get us our iced teas our food was ready. It's super cute inside...can't wait to come back and enjoy the sit down restaurant. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Large alcoholic choice of drinks... really wanted that spicy Mary but since we were in a rush stuck with iced tea. The only 1 minute drive back to the gun range in Santa Maria was grueling smelling that gravy... We were both were thrilled at the large portions. It was amazing! I love gravy and could have used a little bit more but honestly I think it was fine for a normal person plus remember we go to go order so I suspect it soaked up a little on the drive. The staff threw in pepper and Tapatio which the hubs loves. I had Yellow Bird Blue Agave Sriracha in my travel trailer and used a little on it. OMG! It was so good! The potatoes had a nice crunch on them. That gravy was amazing. The biscuit was great, had a bite and saved the rest for later. The hubs managed to eat his whole plate and was stuffed! I might have eaten 1/4 of mine saving it for later. We will for sure be back!

WOW. I was in town visiting family today and stopped here for lunch. I grew up in Orcutt, so I've…read moreknown the Swiss for years, but today's meal reminded me exactly why it's such a local institution. The oak grilled open faced rib-eye sandwich was absolutely incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say it had more flavor than Wolfgang Puck's CUT. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked to the medium temperature I requested, tender enough to bite through without a knife, and seasoned exactly the way Santa Maria style beef should be. So many places are too conservative with the seasoning these days, but they got it just right. Even the bread underneath the steak was perfect. It didn't even need salsa, but of course I tried it both ways. Honestly? I couldn't decide which I liked better because the sandwich was outstanding on its own. We also ordered the linguiça appetizer with garlic bread. The linguiça had that slight char from the grill that gives it so much flavor, and the mustard served alongside it was the perfect pairing. My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with grilled onions and chose the 50/50 fries and grilled onions. The only minor criticism I have is that it wasn't quite a true 50/50 and could have used a few more grilled onions. Other than that, it was delicious. The pinquito beans have a little kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The whole meal took me right back to growing up in the Santa Maria Valley cruising Broadway on Saturday while the entire town smelled like oak fired Santa Maria barbecue. We cook a lot at home, and we're pretty serious about our beef, so eating steak at restaurants is usually disappointing because very few places compare. That's why I was so impressed today. This wasn't just a good sandwich.. it was one of the best rib-eye sandwiches I've ever had. To whoever was running the grill today: outstanding job. You absolutely nailed it. I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a long time.

We each ordered a filet mignon with a side plate. I ordered the chicken noodle soup for starters. It was delicious. I was off to a good start. However, my companions all ordered salads with blue cheese dressing. They each reported the salad was wilted and the dressing was terrible. Then the main course came with our sides, a little pot of salsa and a little pot of beans. The filets were very tender, it not well seasoned. Baked potatoes were fine, but the mixed veggies were tasteless. There may have been some kind of bread, but I don't remember. Service was fine. But waitress really made out. She didn't mention that the tip was already included in the bill. She readily accepted a substantial tip in addition to what was already on the bill. Bad food. Rip off spot!

Of course, we could not come close to finishing all the food and had to ask for our included ice cream to go. Lucky, we had a room in Santa Maria with a big fridge and freezer. We got super excited! With that, don't waste your time on this, go to Orcut to Far Western Tavern so much nicer, friendlier and just overall better experience for similar food. Reservations were for 7:15pm and we arrived at 7:05, were told not to crazy busy just hang out. Managed to find 2 seats at the end of the bar and were served pretty quickly. We don't typically mind a busy place and eating at the bar so I asked my husband if he just wanted to eat there. My seat was at the end and they kept puking up dirty glasses so I wasn't crazy for it but saw everyone else eating at the bar. He said no... Our bartender was attentive and also asked after we had been there maybe 20 minutes and we still said no. We finally got seated for our 7:15pm reservation at 8:30pm. Our server kept coming by telling us she'd be right with us, this happened about 5 times. We waited and waited for service. I got to over hear both our waitress and the others great others and go over specials etc. Ours never really seemed to know if they were actually out of something, she'd say I think. When offering ice cream her list was different from the other waitresses. All this before we got to order. We decided to get the big Ribeye and share but not add on the shared plates. Waitress recommended extra salad so did that. So glad as we didn't need an extra set of sides as everything was larger portions. Salad was basic; bug cuts of iceberg lettuce shredded carrots and one sliced beet on top, with watered down ranch. Main course took forever to arrive; baked potato had all fixings yet was dry. The Ribeye was tough and chewy. I enjoyed the beans and bread dipped in them; funny since I don't really like beans. The hubs who does like beans said they tasted burnt. We finally left at 10pm! It was so ridiculously slow! Don't think I could get the hubs to even try it again. Very disappointed. We tried so many times to eat there and waited and waited in their tiny hallway. At least this time the host and bartender was friendly unlike previous times.
