I had the chicken fried steak (with gravy on the side) and it was crispy and tasty. The gravy was thick and delicious. I had asked for the hash browns to be extra crispy, but they weren't (my only complaint). Servers were friendly and attentive, checking in on us frequently, and swooping up emptied plates. We went here just before noon on a Friday. We all had breakfast but then heard we needed to get the homemade potato chips so we had an order of those too. The place is as described in the other reviews--country feel like grandma's. It is open and has plenty of tables inside and out. The menu has typical diner food. A good selection and the prices are EXTREMELY reasonable! It was totally worth the drive from AG! I had the A Street Scramble and I asked for it scrambled soft and it was cooked perfectly! I rarely find a place that can scramble soft that can make it cooked and not hard at all! Loved that the scramble had a bunch of veggies and not overloaded with onions and peppers. I'm fact, this didn't have peppers and instead had tomatoes and avocado! It also came with potatoes (or fruit), sausage patty (or bacon), and toast. We also had the pancakes--2 large and deliciously fluffy cakes came with sausage patty (or bacon), and 2 eggs. Last thing we ordered was the Eggs Your Way. They didn't do soft boiled so we got poached soft and again, perfectly cooked! It came with fruit (or potatoes), and toast (or pancake). All of the dishes were well-seasoned. Definitely not over seasoned as I have experienced in some restaurants. I also asked for a side of salsa for my scramble and it was good, homemade (I believe)--not too spicy at all--upon first glance I was worried I might not be able to handle the heat (I'm weak) but it was delicious and not overly spicy (good for me). Oh, almost forgot about the chips! Not really. While we were there, I got a text saying I had to get a side of the potato chips. Good suggestion! Deliciously homemade fried to a nice crispness and not overly salty. We brought 2 sides home because they were so good! Staff was great as well. Folks continued to check in on us--"need more coffee?" "Need more water?" "Can I get you something else?" And really appreciated that the chef came out to double check about the eggs--we don't do soft-boiled so do you want soft poached or over easy. I loved that they checked rather than assumed. All in all, a must try. The downsides are that they are only open Tuesday through Friday for breakfast and lunch. Sweet, off the beaten path type of place. Located in an industrial area next to the airport, it has an airport cafe vibe. The menu is straight forward and has everything you want for a good, hearty breakfast and or lunch. Jeff had the meat lovers omelette, with hash browns and toast. He was very satisfied. I had the cinnamon French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. I was not disappointed. Helpful service and lots of seating. I think I should've read the reviews before coming. Although it is an almost 5 star breakfast joint I think those good reviews are mainly due to the fact that the restaurant employs adults with disadvantages. The food was nastier than hospital food. You can't beat the value even with a stick. Usually value means a reduction on service, cleanliness, or quality or quantity. Not here. For $5 you can get lots of breakfast: 2 perfectly cooked bacon, one sausage patty, 2 eggs cooked to order, and a side of hash-browns or pancakes. I wanted to try both so a $5 breakfast became a $6 breakfast. A buck more!?! Yes. I liked how open the place is too. Huge windows, clean tables, and good hometown service. I loved that it's connected to VTC (vocational training center) so folks who need training can work here. VTC's mission is simple and powerful: "To assist youth and adults with disabilities or other limitations in choosing and achieving their life goals". Stopped in her for breakfast on a Monday morning, it was late morning and not crowded. It was a seat yourself and I chose a seat by the window. Very soon someone came by and took my drink order and quickly came back with a hot cup of coffee for me. I perused the menu and decided on a sausage, bacon and egg breakfast. The food came out fairly quickly, it was hot and delicious. The staff was attentive and refilled my coffee a couple of times. This was a great place for breakfast, no-frills and very economical. Service was quick, efficient and my meal was delivered rather quickly, which seems to be the norm for their service! The woman that took my order was an absolute hoot; full of energy, spunk and you definitely knew not to fool around with this lady because she looked like the type that would knock your ass into next week, if it came to that, LOL! My sunny side ip eggs were cooked perfectly, the hashbrowns are obviously homee made and not from a bag. My sausages were cooked good, heated all the way through. A jewel amidst warehouse type businesses. Don't let the outer decor fool you. I think it may be a post war military building. Once you enter the cafe, there's a homey, welcoming, warm decor with staff and food to match. The cafe supports as well as staffs persons with disabilities who do an outstanding job!
