This is a must go stop if you are in the Salem area! We went twice during our stay because it was such a great place to get a bite to eat. A small cafe in the alley by the Pirates Museum. Turkish food is delicious and healthy. We ordered the pitas the first night and they were made quickly and were LOADED with goodness...steak shish kebab, carrots, hummus, pickled onions, cukes. The chicken doner(the meat cluster that is on the rotisserie) is so tender and delicious...the chicken adana(an enlongated meatball with lots of garlic) is just fantastic. You can also get bowls, wraps, and salads with the above mentioned meats. There are vegetarian options like falafels(reeaally good!) and wrapped grape leaves. Everything was so fresh and tasty. This is located literally right behind the Peabody Essex Museum (3 minutes walk) and right next to a church. Don't trust your apple maps, it will spaz out. Food is very affordable and the quality is great! I recommend the kofte ($7.50 w/o tax) and the lamb burger ($9 w/o tax). The lamb burger patty is appropriately gamey, but not smelly. Everything is cooked fresh. Seating is limited, but you can comfortably sit in groups of 3-4. read more

Had takeout for 5 last night for the first time at PG. Everyone enjoyed the food as we rated it "Can't wait to do again ". More than the quality of the food, the takeout system is as good as we have experienced in quarantine. Good online menu, food was ready ontime, and the ongoing text-based communication is excellent. My only comment is that for customers not familiar yet with your menu, a bit more description would be helpful. ( such as what is the rotisserie meat in a Donner?) Or for the adventurous just trust that your " mystery meat" will be delicious and nutritious. read more

Wow, the food here is so good! I was lucky enough to find this place as my husband and I were driving through Gloucester. I ordered a Mediterranean salad with falafel and I found myself wishing I could have it for lunch every day. All of the ingredients tasted really fresh, and the falafel was fried right in front of me. The owner was very friendly and we talked about our travels as he prepared our food. We would have liked to eat at the counter inside, but it was so hot that we had to go outside and eat by our car. It was only 75 or so degrees outside, so hopefully something can be done to make it more comfortable inside the restaurant on warm days. read more

This little hole in the wall place is excellent. The food is fresh and healthy and the portions are generous. Also they prepare the meals very quickly, no unnecessary waiting. There is very limited seating, maybe three high tops, it is basically a take out restaurant, so don't go there for a romantic dinner, but we've gotten food from here 5-6 times and have never been disappointed. There is a heavy flavor of cumin seed in most dishes, so if you don't like that flavor, make sure you tell them. So with the current closure of restraunts and the ones that are open basically only limited to a strict take out menu. I came across paprika while trying to search for new things to eat. I actually found it searching on this all believe it or not. Well, thank you Yelp! What a diverse and well rounded menu. My fiance is vegetarian and i am not so its always tricky when that " what do you want for dinner" convo comes up. Paprikas menu appeals to both partys, so i guess we found our new spot. Ive only eaten here twice and both times were great. I got the grilled chicken bowl and added lettuce tomatoe cucumber and pickled red cabbage along with a spicy sauce. The bowl also includes rice. We were recommended this place from one of our tour guides. She made it out to be the best Turkish food we will ever eat, it wasn't. It definitely wasn't bad just nothing incredible. I got the Doner Bowl with everything which is basically white rice, marinated chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, carrots, cilantro, hummus & tzatziki. I was disappointed with Paprika. I ordered on my way home and wanted to give a new place a shot. First of all, the food was cold. I was told to wait 45 minutes after ordering online. The flavor of my rol up falafels was okay but the sauce watery. The baklava and rice pudding I ordered for my son, clearly had been sitting around for days or weeks. They were soggy and inedible. Wow!! Quick, healthy, clearly made from scratch, and absolutely delicious. The falafel was life-altering, the best I've ever had (and I've eaten plenty of the stuff). The hummus is wonderful and so is the pita, and I was avoiding the pickled cabbage until I tasted some .... I could eat a whole bowlful.
