Paquito's is hands down one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in North Miami. The food never disappoints. I've had the steak burritos, sopes, taquitos, and margaritas, and everything has been packed with flavor. The sopes taste homemade, the steak is tender and well seasoned, and the portions are generous. They also have a huge menu with plenty of authentic Mexican dishes, so there's always something new to try. What really makes the place special is the atmosphere. They have live mariachis on certain days, awesome happy hour specials, and on weekend nights the bar turns into a fun little nightclub with music, dancing, and lots of energy while still feeling welcoming to families and groups. It's also one of the best places around to catch a soccer game with fellow fans. WOW! Paquito's Mexican Restaurant in North Miami Beach is AWESOME. A couple of friends had sung it's praises and we decided to go and have dinner there last night. I wish I would have found out about them sooner because it's the freshest, yummiest Mexican food I have ever had in Miami. In the corner of an unassuming little strip on the south east side of Biscayne Blvd and 163rd Street you would likely miss it if you didnt know it was there. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and sat at our table by a attentive, super nice waitress. The restaurant was cozy, not too big not too small and quiet enough to chat comfortably. No long waits for drinks or food either. And the food... OMG so fresh and flavorful. I swear if I snuck into the kitchen I'd find a mom or grandma cooking the meals! My pals Juan and Jorge who'd been there plenty of times before were right when they said the food was great. We each got something different but everyone raved about their meals. We had the best guacamole with chicharones (pork belly not the dry bagged kind) was a very pleasant and tasty surprise. My friend Soni had a Taco Salad (see pic) I had the Burrito. The entrees were all made with the freshest ingredients and portions were plentiful. No one left hungry. LOL Full or not our table of five shared a Churro with Vanilla Ice Cream and Dulce de Leche, and a Fried Ice Cream. The prices were very reasonable for the amount and high quality of the food. Salsa is an integral part of Mexican cuisine. At Paquitos it has evolved throughout the years. Notice the salsa does not have much cilantro, I asked for extra and was advised its additional price. I'm tossing a coin on the tomato sauce seems like can tomato puree. And the Onions were chunky chopped. Had a small spicy kick in the aftertaste which was delicious. The chips! Thick enough to pickup the salsa, when asked if it's home made I was told it's home cooked. Aha! My doubt on the touch has little to none oil residue and little to no salt. The food was okay. Better than average but not the best I've had. The 1 star review is due to the very uncomfortable time I spent at the restaurant when the mariachi performed and there was a little girl singing with them. The mariachi band is GREAT. Very professional gentlemen with a great sound. I'm not sure if that little girl is part of their group and is always there but she CANNOT sing. If she is part of their group, they should fire her. Aside from the borderline screaming this girl was doing into my party's ear, she does not have manners. She grabbed my arm and pulled me while I was eating because she said she "wanted to dance" but I was trying to eat and ended up spilling my food on myself. She had an attitude if you don't cheer for her or applaud her. She came back after she finished singing and asked us for a tip when the actual mariachi band did not. SO SO SO RUDE!!! Absolutely never coming back. And neither is anyone in my family/party. Such a shame, the band sounded great without her. And the food was decent. Visited this restaurant last week, Mexican cuisine, the decor is welcoming. As for the food the dishes and dining experience was good but service felt rushed. The staff was welcoming but it felt like they were short staff because there wasn't enough waiters for that many tables. I ordered the tacos al carbon (one steak, one pork) so we got TWO dishes that we didn't order, then the waiter told me that she was going to get charged if i refused the second dish but I explained her that I didn't order that dish and that I was ok with eating the 2 tacos steak but we weren't eating the second dish that we didn't n order... Aside for the confusion my tacos al carbon were good, excellent seasoning on the steak and very fresh ingredients. I enjoyed the rice and fried beans. We also order the guacamole and that was on point. We had an extra order of tortilla chips and they were very good too. I was told there was a better service on the other side of the restaurant because it wasn't as crowded and there was music. I stopped by for a late dinner after visiting "Malenki Moskva" on the other side of the causeway a little later in the evening. I noticed that it's also a relatively short drive from work as well. As other yelpers mentioned, there is a little after hours bar / club next to the restaurant side but this time, I just went for dinner. The food is your classic tex mex fare but their chips and salsa is a win, as the bowl with the salsa could pass for a soup bowl. The chips have a nice crisp as well. Speaking of soup, their tortilla soup is pretty tasty with its hearty tomato broth, crema and cheese. My main dish - Chile Relleno (stuffed pepper with Chicken) - with a deep fried batter and salsa roja was tasty but could have used a little more heat other than the leftover salsa from the fries. What a little gem. This is a restaurant that is also a club after-hours. I came with friends and we all had a great time. The staff was great and the food was very good. We were a big group. We started with some appetizers. The fajitas were delicious. The platter was a great option. It had a little bit of everything and it was a good amount. I ended up getting Carne Asada ALa Tampiquena. Boy, that was good. The flavors were on point. The stake was very tender and good and yes I liked it. We had our get-together here and I thought it was a great place to have it. Between the staff and the food, everything went well. I wish I had stayed for the dancing after-hours. The restaurant is located on the side of a strip mall at a corner. It is towards the backside. Great place to eat some yummy Mexican cuisine and have some margaritas! The service has always been good whenever I've gone. We went last night. They bring us chips and salsa. We also ordered some guacamole. It was hard to choose something because the menu is huge and everything looks good. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas. It came with rice and refried beans. My friend ordered the chimichanga with rice and beans. My son ordered the Acapulco combo meal of chicken enchilada and a pulled beef flauta, and a sope. I really enjoyed Paquito's. It's been a LONG time since I've been in an old school Mexican restaurant like that. Food was fresh and very good. Their complementary salsa is delicious, we got a second helping. I had a quesadilla which was good and packed with veggies. A hidden gem! The food was so delicious! We started with the guacamole appetizer and the shredded beef nachos which were both really good. We also ordered the Al pastor tacos and the beef fajitas and absolutely loved both! For dessert we tried the helado frito and really enjoyed it. This is a really cute located with a lot of Mexican artwork on the walls. Loved the vibe especially when the mariachis came in. That was the highlight of the restaurant. They played so many great hits!!! The food on the other hand was 3/10 wasn't crazy about any plate we had it was very very average food when we expected a more homey taste to this restaurant. The meat inside the flauta was delicious but the flauta wasn't as crunchy as it should've been. The burrito didn't have anything but ground meat inside. Very average. Very authentic with the Mexican decor. When you sit down you're given free chips and salsa. Always love a free chips and salsa. We had to order the queso dip which was super creamy and cheesy. Don't forget to order it with a side of their spicy habanero sauce. A little goes a long way. Then ordered the Laquita fajitas and the enchiladas suiza which were very delicious. Yes things have changed but you know what when you really enjoy the atmosphere on a Saturday or Sunday night with a loved one and the mariachi band playing how can you not have a good time! The food was delicious even after the fact that the tamal we ordered of beef came out with chicken. We ate and finished. We asked for the tab after waiting for her to appear. She said okay and came back to the tables around us at least 3 times and during the last time she came to us and asked if we wanted dessert and if we were done .... We had asked for the tab a long time ago! Anyways, i will always come back but definitely change my waitress I am very disappointed today! Great authentic Mexican Restaurant. It's been around at least 20 years I know of. I got the flautas and tacos. They give you chips and salsa. Both amazing and from scratch. It's a little loud at night as they have a separate bar with loud music. Service was attentive and some of the servers don't speak English. Read a lot of reviews on google so decided to give Paquito's a try. We walked in and were immediately seated but the table was dirty so had to get it cleaned up. While checking the menu I happened to look at the floor and right next to my feet was a dead cockroach :/ The girl on the next table had an eye contact with me and we shared a disgusted giggle. Finally to change our table. The veggie burrito was mediocre (forgot to click pics) consisted of 25% refried beans, 70% onions and 5% red bell pepper in the name of onions. Some cheese on top - pretty bland overall. Chicken burrito ordered by my husband was fine though. Servers don't care and not once did they bother to ask if we need something or if we are doing fine. Our first trip here was a few years ago and we had an overall positive experience. Our last visit yesterday evening however was not as pleasant. The service was incredibly slow. Our waiter never returned to our table after he took our order to check on us or to refill our drinks. The food portions were incredibly small and mediocre at best. Despite the small portions the price tag was hefty considering the quality. My $25 steak fajitas literally only had four slices of green peppers, 1/8 of an onion and six slices of mushrooms as the veggies. The whole meal took up half of the fajita plate. It came accompanied with dried out refried beans, under seasoned Mexican rice, guacamole, warm lettuce and a few diced tomatoes. Cheese was not included but you could add it for an extra $2.50! What! Toward the end of the meal I got up to use the restroom and in the small hallway where the restrooms were was an old-school candy machine. I happened to look inside and all the candy was cracked and old. It looked like the chocolate was powdering. Inside the tray where the candy would come out there were bugs crawling around. I could have vomited right there. I was so grossed out. After I returned to the table I started to take a closer look at the cleanliness of the restaurant. While the decor on the ceiling looked nice it was extremely dusty as was most of the wall decor. The service was relatively quick considering the size of our party and everything came out correctly, including every meal and alcoholic drink.
