With this restaurant being located in such a charming little town such as Galena, IL, I was a little disappointed in the service. From the get go, the lady taking our order was in a bit of a rush. My family was with me and we had a couple questions regarding the menu. I felt that our server's response was abrupt and felt like she was brushing us off to get to the next customer. The food was meh. I mean it wasn't terrible but it was pretty basic. The hubby got a cheeseburger, my daughter got the grilled cheese meal, and I got the buffalo wings. The menu said that celery and carrot sticks came with my order but I just got the wings. When I was able to finally flag down our server to inquire about my veggie sticks and dressing, she said "oh we're out of those" and was about to walk off until I quickly asked her what about the ranch? She then quickly pointed to the little square ranch container that was in the middle of the table. I mean maybe offer other things to accommodate for what's missing or at least tell me that off the bat would have been nice. We pretty much just ate our food and was ready to go right after. The name Paradise Bar & Grill is an oxymoron as we did not feel like we were in paradise.

Hotter day and had to sit outside because we had a smaller dog and they didn't allow them inside. Reasonable but it was really hot. The fans outside were not helping at all. Would of felt better without them. Service was okay the lady was friendly and got our drinks right away. We waited about 30 for the blt and appetizer of wings. Lemonade was watered down a lot and the sprite was okay. The Paradise BLT 4/10, the bread was semi hard, there was one chunk, a chunk of tomato, and the lettuce was your normal lettuce. The bacon was really greasy, the mayo on the side helped but it was really nothing special. I had to take the other half to go. The fries obviously were frozen fries but seemed like they weren't cooked throughly and i've had good frozen fries before The appetizer wings 3/10, there was like barely any meat on the wings. The sauce was not a true buffalo sauce and the texture was off. Fries had the same problem. The other place we wanted to go to didn't have outdoor seating so we sat here and then saw the reviews and gave it a chance. We'll now we know.

Food was good waiter was the only one and the place was getting busy. Italian beef was really good.

Basically this is one of the first places one encounters when entering town from the east. It's located in the Irish Cottage Inn & Suites. The hotel itself is very nice and has lots of amenities of its own if wanting to stay there. As for the restaurant itself it's one of the highlights. It's about $8 for an Irish coffee, which is a classic in the morning, evening, or whenever. Amazingly they have non dairy options including Bailey's Dairy Free Toffee Cream. It's about $18 or more for an entree which is a lot. We were able to find a few plant based options. I got the Roasted Squash Bowl. This has broccolini, farro, heirloom tomato relish, pickled red cabbage, and white beech mushrooms. An earthy flavor. She had the Vegan Shepherd's Pie. An alternative made with faux beef and mushroom gravy There's also plenty of meaty options like beef medallions. For sure it's one of the nicer restaurants around here. It's closed Mondays. I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi.

But more specifically, the bar is great, the drinks are creative and delicious, and the prices are reasonable for a touristy area in a small town hotel bar. There are also TV's around the bar showing sports or music videos, but they are non-intrusive. But the standout is the staff. The bartender was amazing, funny, creative and helpful. The servers were similarly awesome. If you're in town, definitely swing by and have a drink. Remember to be nice to the staff and I promise they will be nice to you.
