I love indian food especially dishes made from different regions in India. We tried the Gobi Manchurian, Chettinadu Chicken, and Malabar Fish Curry in Hyderabadi Style. The Gobi Manchurian is a tasty fusion of cauliflower florets cooked in traditional Chinese and Indian spices. The Chettinadu Chicken was not what I was used to from different Indian establishments. It was served with bone-in chicken (mostly bones) and the sauce didn't have the depth of a good Chettinadu. The Malabar Fish Curry was our least favorite. The sauce was off-tasting and served with tiny bone-in fish that you are afraid to bite into. Our service was lacking and was not very accommodating when we brought up the bones in our chicken and fish. They should specify that these dishes are made with bone-in in the menu.

We first came to Paradise Biryani Pointe in November 2018 and surprisingly, we returned again in November 2025 on Thanksgiving Day. However, looks like this Indian Restaurant has lost its old charm. We came to this place to eat dinner during our last San Diego trip. The inside of this place was elegantly decorated and clearly represented traditional Indian culture. The air was filled with the bold aroma of Indian spices, which increased our appetite. At the same time, the place was super crowded and they were severely understaffed. After waiting for more than half an hour we were finally able to find seats. We then waited 15/20 minutes more for a waiter! We ordered Murgh Tangdi, Gobi Manchurian, Street Noodles, Triple Fried Rice, and Mango Lassi. And the wait for our food began again! They first served Murgh Tangdi and it was the best part of the meal. Then they literally took 25/30 minutes more to serve Mango Lassi, Gobi Manchurian and Triple Fried Rice. The Gobi Manchurian was tasty, the Mango Lassi was good as well, but the Triple Fried Rice barely had any rice in it and it was the worst fried Rice we've ever tried. The Street Noodles were bland and not tasty at all. The overall price was reasonable, but the extremely slow service and food quality really let them down. We were very disappointed and will not be coming back!

Curry pizza ... what a concept! We've been curious about curry pizza and decided to try it today at Paradise Biryani Point. It was great -- a fusion of Italian pizza and Indian dishes as toppings. There are eight curry pizza choices on the menu here, offered in three sizes. We ordered a 10" Curry Chicken Pizza (5/5 $16.99), which looked fabulous when it cane to the table. The pizza crust was excellent -- like being in Napoli -- and the curry chicken topping (with red onions and tomatoes) was very flavorful and at a nice spiciness. I also enjoyed a Mango Lassi (4/5 $3.99) with the pizza. The restaurant itself is narrow and deep, with a rather plain interior. There are booths on both sides and tables in the middle. We opted for a booth. Service was very good And curry pizzas have new converts!

[3.25] I had a group of 4 with me & we ordered 2 medium pizzas of chili paneer & butter chicken to share! We waited awhile though, maybe like 15-20 minutes bc they had to bake our pizzas. On impression, the chili paneer pizza was a little underwhelming, it didnt feel cheesy enough, lack some flavor, and the bread itself was kind of dry. I try to eat crust usually but this one had no flavor really, so I was disappointed (3/5). The butter chicken was better, more flavor there & pulled itself together more nicely, def prefer this one over the other, crust was the same though, dry (3.5/5). Design is simple & diner-like. We also noticed they were playing youtube pop songs on their tvs which was fun heh. Overall, okay quality but I've had better indian pizzas, wish it was more flavorful & aromatic, with more going on. Hope to see improvements in the future!

Okay, the Butter Chicken pizza was really good. I did not have take sip of water after every bite, so it is a plus. Other restaurants and chains use too much seasonings. The price is also fair for how much toppings are on the pizza. I definitely recommend getting this for first-time goers -- since that was me.

Im surprised I haven't really seen curry pizza until now. We got the paneer 65 appetizer which I loved. Chicken biryani and paneer butter masala pizza. I was concerned about the spice level but if you can handle jalapenos without the seeds you'll be fine. It was delicious enough for me to want to power through the heat. I will come back to try the chicken 65 wings and butter chicken pizza next time! Service was good and there was no wait to sit down at 8pm dinner time. Parking was plenty

My husband's boss' mandir buddy hangs out here and told me about the pizza. I ordered the paneer butter masala (small is 16.99) and it didn't disappoint! It's like eating paneer on naan. The sauce is just the right amount and you even get a cheese pull. I also did the lunch special for 10.99. Customer service was great and attentive. The place was clean and the food was piping hot!!

I love the boneless chicken dum biryani here. This is my ultimate go-to for biryani. The chicken is so tender and full of flavor! I always ask for extra spicy (basically extra masala) and I think that enhances the flavor even more. They have booth seatings on one side of the restaurant and the rest of the space is filled with normal tables and chairs. It can accommodate big groups if necessary. I noticed that they have started selling Indian pizza now! I might have to give this a try at some point, when I don't fall prey to ordering my usual. lol.

Read a couple of bad reviews but still decided to give this place a try. Wow was I blown away. Not only are the portions fabulous but so are the prices -- and the food and phenomenal! This is hands down the best butter chicken i have ever had in my life, and it was served with the butter even oozing out of the top. i also had the Murgh Tangdi (which the guy said was an appetizer but fully could have been my entire meal)! it came out so fast and sizzling hot on a pan (cue the video)... amazing seasoning and so fresh. I also had the butter Roti, a 2 piece samosa, and a Mango lassi. Everything was hot and fresh and came out so quickly, and the mango lassi had a perfect color on it and not too sweet. The service was amazing and they were even playing such vibey music. I was dining alone but this could have been a meal for 3 people for sure. 10/10 and will be coming back!

Mixed bag experience. Some dishes were really good while others were underwhelming. Street noodles and Kadai paneer were excellent! We had high expectations of the paneer pizza but it was just so so. Mixed vegetable Pakora and Gobi Manchurian were okay as well. May drop by again to try other dishes cause their menu is extensive.

    Malai paneer Pizza
    Neha G.

We ordered Malai paneer pizza as to-go. It was quick, served super hot. It was good but lacking taste. Little bit of salt and oregano type flavor. They had multiple paneer pizza variety as butter paneer masala and chilli paneer.

Best Indian food in San Diego!! Especially the naan! Every dish is great, but the butter chicken is very loved by my kids.

Everything about this place was great--the service, the food, and the cleanliness. It's one of those hidden gems in a shopping center that you wouldn't expect to be this good. Then when you finally try it, you're almost mad at yourself for not discovering it sooner! Our server was fantastic--such a genuine guy. We told him it was our first time, and he recommended the mango lassi. It was amazing! The texture and sweetness were perfect--not overbearing at all. We also tried the curry chicken pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. So flavorful and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!

The only Phil's I knew at that point pertained to coffee. Lol. Not being a huge meat eater, I was kind of standoff-ish about the idea but since the establishment is known for being a staple visit whenever people come to SD, I had to do it. The 17K+ reviews and the 4.5 star solid rating also helped with that decision. Known for their slow cooked meats and their large portions, Phil's BBQ is a casual dining experience where you get a combo of self serve and attentive service from the staff- all rolled into one. Our family of 3 arrived for a late lunch. The meal consisted of: *BABY BACK RIB + CHICKEN DINNER $25.99 -paired with potato salad + sweet baked beans *BBQ WINGS- 10ct $11.95 *SAUSAGE LINK $4.99 *COLOSSAL ONION RINGS $9.99 *LARGE SIDE: STEAMED VEGGIES $4.75 * FOUNTAIN DRINKS $3.49/each Ribs and chicken were good. These meats were cooked perfectly- lathered in sauce and very tender. The wings were good and had a light kick to it- nothing to bat an eye over for us adults but a lot of soda breaks were needed for my toddler. Beans were delicious but the potato salad wasn't a fave. The onion rings were the biggest letdown- these were massive in size but so very dry and overly crunchy. This order essentially went untouched after a few bites. the hot link was delicious and the veggies were made well but bland. 3.5 stars for the food but because this review is specifically dedicated to Kira, it's automatically a FIVE!!!! This young lady truly made our visit to Phil's BBQ 100% memorable and very much enjoyed. Service doesn't get any better than what she's offering and her warmth provided to the patrons are unmatched! Both are always cooked perfectly and never dry at all. If you come during peak meal times you may have to wait for a spot or park one lot over, but I've never really had any issues. If you're ordering during lunchtime on a weekday, they do get super busy since a lot of employees from neighboring offices come by for takeout, so just be sure to give yourself plenty of time. The staff is also consistently warm and kind, which makes the whole experience feel good from the moment you walk in. My only real frustration is with the wait times on online orders, and it's significant enough that I have to mention it. I work 10 min away and only get a 35-40 minute break. The app consistently quotes around 20 minutes- but honestly, 20 minutes shouldn't even be necessary. I've stood there and watched them make a bowl. It takes about two minutes. Other similar restaurants have my order ready in five minutes, consistently. So when the app quotes 20 and then I still end up waiting at the 20 minute mark on top of that - in a nearly empty restaurant - something is off. Today this happened (I hit the 20 min mark with no food), and I had to go up and ask them to make my order. This isn't a one-time thing either. It's happened enough times over the years that it genuinely deters me from coming here on my break. To their credit, there was a stretch where it seemed like they had it figured out, so I know they can do it. I just wish that consistency would stick. If you're not on a time crunch, absolutely go. The food alone is worth it. But if you're relying on a quoted pickup time, build in a buffer- a bigger one than you'd think you'd need.

Since we were going to be in Hillcrest, we chose Khyber Pass - and wow, what an incredible decision. This was easily some of the best food I've had in a very long time. We started with the Bolani. Absolute perfection. It had a beautiful crunch, perfectly seasoned filling, and none of that sogginess I often run into with Bolani elsewhere. We could've ordered another plate and been thrilled. Next came the Aushak with ground beef: one of my all-time favorite Afghan dishes. Think of it like delicate leek-filled ravioli topped with savory meat and tangy yogurt. It hit all the right notes. We also shared the Kofta Kabob, served with grilled vegetables and fluffy basmati rice. The seasoning was spot on, and the meat was juicy and tender, similar to Persian koobideh, but truly memorable in its own way. Our server recommended the Afghan Yaghoot Chalao (Cherry Curry) with chicken. Yes, cherries! Sweet, sour, rich, bright. I had to resist the urge to literally lick my plate clean. And then: the Qabuli Palao with lamb. I do not like lamb. My friend loves it, so I agreed...and I'm so glad I did. I genuinely loved this dish. The saffron-coriander rice with carrots and raisins was aromatic and comforting, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. If you're hesitant about lamb, trust me, this dish might convert you. Portions were generous, we came hungry, and still left with leftovers. I also ordered the house-made Doogh, a mint yogurt drink. It's not for everyone, but it's pure comfort to me. We finished with hot tea infused with cardamom, black for me, green for my friend, and it was the perfect close to a perfect meal. I told our server that this food was even more delicious than what my mother makes. I'm Afghan born and raised in San Diego. That is not a compliment I give lightly. I believe the restaurant is under newer management since around 2020/2021. I last ate here in 2015, and even back when it was on Convoy in the late '90s, and this is the best it has ever been. I highly, highly recommend Khyber Pass to anyone: adventurous eaters, first-timers, comfort-food seekers, well everyone. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'm saving room for dessert.

And their customer service has always been on point. I remember one time I ordered through IG or over the phone and there was a mix-up. I thought I was ordering tacos, but ended up getting their quesadillas instead, and it was a lot of food. Needless to say, I had lunch for days lol. Honestly, it was a pretty great accident. It's been a while since the Mrs and I grabbed tacos from them since we moved from The Enclave, so I think we're definitely overdue. Also, they're big dog lovers, which is a huge plus for us. They always showed so much love to our black German Shepherd every time we pulled up. Their food is something special...always handled with care and made with obvious love. I really hope we start seeing them around Chula Vista more in the near future. If you're reading this, please support them. They're great people making great food, and it won't hurt your wallet either. Thanks guys! And RIP THOR!!!!
