Disappointing Experience Despite High Ratings We ordered from Punjab Tandoori based on its high ratings on Grubhub, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. First, the portion sizes were surprisingly small for the price. The entrée came in a basic takeout container with a minimal serving of rice and curry -- definitely not enough for a full meal. The naan, while warm, lacked flavor and had an uneven char, almost like it was rushed or reheated rather than freshly made in a tandoor. Also very chewy and too thick. Taste-wise, the Chicken Tikka Masala was underwhelming. The sauce was overly creamy but lacked depth or spice, and the vegetables (or meat) were sparse and indistinct. There was nothing particularly aromatic or flavorful about it -- quite bland for a cuisine known for its bold, rich flavors. The only plus was the spicing and flavor of the Chicken Vindaloo. Presentation and preparation didn't help either. The curry leaked into the container lid, and everything arrived looking hastily packed. For a restaurant with such glowing reviews, we expected more care and authenticity in both the food and the experience. Sadly, we won't be ordering again. There are better and more consistent Indian food options out there. Our go-to is Tikka Lounge but their prices have gone up. Thought we would try something new, but when you find your go-to, you are reminded that there are no better places and best to support the local establishments that are consistently the best.

Great spot with a nice variety of food and rotating menu of different veggie and meat dishes. I like that there are a bunch of different combos to choose from that and you can decide how much meat or veggie dishes you want to based on your combo. I've been here a couple of times now and service is always very fast and the portions are generous enough for me that it can last for two meals. The combo I get comes with naan and raita. I also get a mango lassi. Plenty of parking as well as indoor/outdoor seating!

Overview: Affordable combos, large portions, quick and easy food ---- The lunch combo deals are super affordable! They have 9 different combos ranging from $11.99 to $14.99, with options to mix vegetables, chicken, lamb, rice, naan, raita, kheer, and veggie samosa. Their lunch combinations are the best deal in my opinion. Their curries by themselves don't come with rice nor naan and their dinner combos are just a little bit more expensive. ---- Combo #9 $13.99 (1 Lamb, 1 Chicken or Veg, Rice, 1 Naan, 1 Kheer): - Lamb curry tender meat and good flavor - Chicken tikka masala 5 big chunks of meat - Basmati Rice has a good nuttiness and soaks up the sauces well - Naan is made fresh and is so good warm - Kheer is a good, simple rice pudding, liquidy consistency, not overly sweet ---- Service can vary. I've been here 3 times so far, and 2 of those times they've gotten my order wrong. Both times I only received 1 naan when charged for Combo #6 which comes with 2 naans. Before you leave make sure your order is correct and you have everything. My last time their service was friendly, order was correct, and it was a great trip. ---- Other notes: - Plenty of parking - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Relaxed atmosphere - They also sell ice cream there - Very fast, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes Overall: Fast and tasty food, large and affordable, hit-or-miss service

TL;DR: ...and STILL hands-down best Indian food I've had in SD Got the chicken dinner for two and wasn't disappointed All the dishes were delicious but more than the food was the friendliness of the owners - felt like walking into a home instead of a restaurant Coming back anytime I'm in the area :) Cheers, Punjabi Tandoor!

This place is quick, easy, and delicious. PT always hits the spot when I want Indian food. Came here for late night eats with my friends and had the chicken curry with rice. I demolish that plate in five minutes. The entree comes with naan and a sweet dessert rice. This place is a staple in my meal rotation. Will be back soon!

In my opinion this is the best place to go for value, authenticity and taste when you're craving Indian. You can't beat their combos which for around $13-15 will give you rice, naan, raita or kheer, and 1-2 different types of curries. The variety is outstanding and they have something for every taste and enjoyment. I strongly recommend their paneers and especially their lamb rogan Josh. The family that work here are great, friendly and provide fantastic service. This is a place that's probably more for take out but you'll find a comfortable seat inside or out if you want to eat here. It might be out of the way but it's worth the drive. Definitely worth visiting and filling up on some authentic and delicious curries.

I give it a 3.5. First time at this is a smallish eatery located in a non-descript business park in the Miramar area, serving up heaping portions in their lunch and dinner combos. I had the chicken (tikka masala) and lamb (curry) combo, which came with a generous amount of rice, a huge naan, and kheer (rice pudding). Didn't appreciate the preschooler sitting on the food prep counter, although it shows that this no frills eatery is family-run. It's definitely not the best Indian in town, but decent for the price. I took more than half of this portion home for another meal+.

The flavor was great! However, the chicken was cold in the middle, which made me think it might have been reheated. That said, I'd still be willing to give it another try.

Great price, serving sizes, and options Food court style place Quick if you want to eat in our take out I loved the butter chicken and the curry spinach You get a rice pudding type desert with your combo and it is refreshing

Located in the business center. Private parking lot. Ample seating inside and outside. Everything we ordered was good. At first I got a 3 item combo plate. Comes with rice and naan bread to share with my husband. And then my husband decided to get his own combo plate because it was so good lol Chicken Tikka masala Chef's choice Lamb dish Veggie samosa- they give u two sauces. I ended up combining the two. Would def come here again. They have fountain drinks and can beverages. I forgot to take photos. Next timed will def come here again.

I was craving Indian and found this place on Grubhub. The meal did not disappoint! I got the 2 meat curries for $15.99. Any upgrades of protein is an upcharge, but there are plenty of options included in the base price. I had the chicken curry and vindaloo, and both were flavorful and delicious! The portion size was very good and included a small portion of rice pudding and a huge piece of naan. Overall, a great option for Indian food!

    Is there a lunch buffet?

No lunch buffet. There's a lunch special which can include 2 items that they cook and comes with rice and naan. It's a great deal (around $11/$12 for the amount of food!

Which items if any are vegan?

    Mushroom masala or vegetable curry

Are there any vegan options, specifically, any of the veggie curries?

I know they have vegan options for sure. You just have to ask at the counter! When I was there once, the older gentleman said something about vegan options because a lot of people are requesting that lately. Definitely ask. I can't recall specific…

Is it possible to get mild curry here? My kids won’t eat super hot.

All you have to do is ask and they will make it the spice level of you choosing. I wife can't handle the spice so she always tells them not spicy. It's just as delicious but without the burn.

Which chicken and lamb curries have no yogurt? I'm looking for minimal dairy. Ghee is OK.

    Vindaloo has no Yogurt

LOL I really liked how easy the waitlist process was. You show up, scan the QR code, add your name, number of people in your party, and get updates while you wait. Super simple and convenient. The owner, Syed Afzal, was up front checking on things while guests were being seated and to-go orders were flying out the door. He was incredibly pleasant and took the time to chat with me about the most popular items, especially for a busy Friday night after 10pm. He went over the top sellers, the most unique dishes, and he even shared a funny story about a couple who had apparently gotten into an argument/fight a few weeks back over a reserved table. LOL He also mentioned the other restaurants he and his partners have opened throughout NorCal and SoCal. Such a cool, welcoming guy, and you can tell there's a lot of pride behind what they're building and they love what they do. Now let's talk about the food and the atmosphere. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The whole restaurant had such great energy, with so many guests clearly enjoying their food just as much as I was, and some were celebrating something special by the way they were dressed. I had the goat dum biryani, and while it was packed with flavor, it eventually got a little too spicy for me, even with plenty of raita on top. So I happily took the rest home for a visiting sibling who loves spicy food. The chicken malai kebab, though? Absolutely to die for. Tender, flavorful, and easily something I would order again and again. The service was top-notch and the staff always came with a smile. Multiple people checked on me throughout the meal, and the entire restaurant ran like a well-oiled machine. I can't wait to come back with a big group so we can order a ton of different dishes and try even more of the menu. This place is popular for a reason. Couldn't be happier!

Every time I asked about my order, I was told "5 more minutes," but this kept happening over and over. What should have been a short wait ended up taking about 40 minutes. When I finally received my food, it was packed in a much smaller box than what I have always gotten from this location. The portion was so small that my hand--and even my 10-year-old son's hand--was bigger than the container. It definitely did not feel like the amount I paid for. Between the long wait, the repeated delays, the small portion, and the poor customer service, this was a very frustrating experience. As a Pakistani, I expected much better from a restaurant serving our cuisine. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be eating here again
