Our first time here but I don't know if I would be back. There were plenty of food and many choices from the buffet bar, but the quality of the food wasn't all that great. The restaurant had this super weird smell when you first walk in and it felt kind of gross but it was past our normal dinner time, so we went ahead and ate anyway since we were hungry. Fried crab quarters, spicy shrimp with the corn were good, but the crab was too greasy for me. I believe they deep fried it. Corn was tender and sweet. I had one small piece of california roll and it was meh. Fried plaintain was overdone. Crawfish looked good but it was rather bland and the crawfish meat was kind of mushy. Pot roast (more like shredded beef) was super salty. The rolls at the sushi bar didn't look all that good so I passed. The salt and pepper shrimp looked good but I didn't try it so I can't comment. The pound cake and one kind of chocolate chips cookie were both decent. The restaurant didn't look super clean. The place was crowded though. Large sushi bar and a huge octagon grill for creating your own stir fry dishes were the center pieces. The other food and desert lines featured the typical won-ton, breaded shrimp and beef dishes. A large selection of desserts left many choices if you saved room for them. A steady line at the door past 2pm kept the many tables full. Antonia took great care of our two top table and earned $5 tip for her diligent service. When comparing this buffet to the few options in the Coachella Valley I would rate it slightly above the Emperor Buffet in Rancho Mirage. Now, I'm not usually one to go to buffets because very often buffets tend to do very many things poorly and very few things right. However, today I was especially feeling like going to a buffet. As I entered, it was layout was just like any other buffet. The line was almost out the door so I am sure that with this rush, the food will be fresh. (I actually got it the door shortly after I got in line). All the staff was absolutely friendly starting from the host all the way to the bussers. The bussers were amazing they greeted me they picked up all the dirty dishes very quickly. They even offered me a cup of tea near the end of my meal they were amazing every staff that I met there was outstanding. In regards to the food, there are certain things that were OK and others that were outstanding. I felt that the shellfish were on the verge of being overcooked and they were under seasoned. The same went for the fried rice. The sushi and the fried crab were pretty decent . The pot roast was well seasoned and super tender, their prime rib was perfectly medium, and it was well seasoned. However, the au jus was too salty, and I think that it would have been better without the dip. The fried chicken was amazing, which is quite surprising because it was on par with certain chicken wing spots. And finally, the Mongolian barbecue, which takes center place. There was a long line, and I think that the beef was slightly well done, however, that is how I personally liked it. And I believe that you could let the cook know if you want to have cooked a bit less. But it seemed pretty typical of other Mongolian barbecue. I personally think that it is actually pretty good. They have plenty of desserts, one of which is a soft serve, which I admit was a hint grainy (ice crystals) , but not too bad. However, the banana cream pie was very good. Overall, I felt like that this place did more things right than wrong and would be a buffet that I would not mind taking friends to who are a little bit more discriminate about the quality of their food. For $20 all you can eat? Heck yeah! The restaurant is huge. There's a lot of customers which gave me an idea that the food is great. I pigged out on blue crabs - they're delish, as well as the desserts. I didn't try that much sushi nor the other dishes because I was enjoying the fried blue crab and the steamed fish. Our server was Emily and she was amazing. She took our plates fast so we can go for our seconds. Come to think of it, I think I have 3 plates of fried blue crabs and steamed fish and 2 plates of desserts. My favorite was the one that's like mousse with coffee on top and chocolate at the bottom. Ive been around the garden grove and surrounding city areas all my life. I've seen and have been to pretty much all of the Asian buffets that have come and gone throughout the years. Paradise Buffet has been at its location where the old Hometown Buffet once was at the promenade shopping center off of Chapman and brookhurst. Not sure what took me so long to try Paradise but I finally tried it a couple of days ago. I can tell you that it is good to where I've been wanting to go back again. My family and I previously went to the Asia buffet at Buena Park mall which has been there for years and we weren't completely satisfied. I didn't have the craving or the urge to wanna go back to that buffet like I do for Paradise. The price alone compared to most Asia buffets is unbeatable. If I recall correctly, $13.99 for lunch and $19.99 for dinner without a beverage. The wide range of food selection is good. They have a sushi station where they have salmon and tuna nigiri even at lunch! They also have other sushi rolls with salmon and tuna such as the rainbow roll. They have people dedicated to the sushi station who are just consistently making sushi. They have a sushi rice machine that prepares the sushi rice into the nigiri balls of rice so all they have to do is throw the fish on top. They also have the other machine which prepares the rice on to the seaweed so they only have to add the ingredients and roll it. The rice is really good compared to other sushi rice used at other buffets. They also have a huge Mongolian bbq station with so many different seafood, veggie, meat, noodle, and sauce selections. Then they have the whole back section as the main buffet with a large number of items such as your typical Chinese food like orange chicken, fried rice, salt and pepper wings, etc. The buffet even has Mac and cheese, roast beef, pasta with Alfredo sauce, and mashed potatoes. These are just a few of the items they have. They also have a large dessert station which has cakes, pies, cookies, soft serve ice cream and even cotton candy! Again, this is probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to Chinese buffets In the area! So if you're looking for some good Asian buffet food, you should definitely try Paradise. It's a great value buffet for the price but not something I would choose to go on my own. The variety of food and discounts for seniors is a huge reason I believe that keeps this place packed, its great for family gatherings or casual hangouts with friends, but not a place that I would be comfortable eating more than a few times a year. I felt like the food quality was pretty standard for any chain chinese american buffet, its not excellent but its not horrible. I did like that even for the pickiest eaters there's something for everyone. As far as food sanitiation, you get what you pay for with everyone's hands touching all the utensils and food being dropped everywhere. This is something that just happens when lots of people are all interacting with the utensils all the time. At least the food is in constant rotation with the amount of people that dine. This a great find, the selection amazing, the sushi very good for a buffet, Mongolian barbecue, salads, crawfish, lots of Asian choices, egg rolls, pot stickers, soups, fried rice, orange chicken, and the place was packed. The desserts were set up very professionally with a bakery glass cabinet housing all the fresh cakes and pastries. Went here for coworker bday. This place used to be a Hometown Buffet so in a plaza next to 24H fitness and wallmart. Be expect to find parking during its peak times. So there's not much to say about a seafood buffet except it's known for one thing: huge portions of Chinese classics. The crawfish is huge and chow Mein is surprising is not too greasy. However, everything else is hit or miss. Good food though so I would give it a try. read more

I want to start by saying I understand the need for a mandatory gratuity policy on large parties--that's completely reasonable and is commonplace in foodservice. However, we experienced a significant issue with how this policy is communicated and enforced. Our large party arrived separately and each family paid individually upon entrance. At no point was the gratuity policy mentioned, nor is there any signage at the entrance or payment area indicating this requirement. After everyone had already completed their transactions, staff had to approach us to explain the policy and request additional payment. This created an awkward and uncomfortable situation for everyone involved--both guests and staff. This entire issue could have been easily prevented with clear signage at the entrance and point of sale stating the mandatory gratuity policy for large parties. When customers arrive separately and pay individually, they have no way of knowing they're part of a "large party" unless it's clearly communicated upfront. I'm happy to revise this one star review to reflect a better experience once management addresses this by installing clear, visible signage about the gratuity policy. The staff were polite in handling the situation, but the lack of communication infrastructure put everyone in an unnecessarily difficult position. Paradise buffet has a variety of food to choose from: Chinese, sushi, noodle bar, desserts, etc. There's plenty of indoor seating with a mixture of tables and booths. I have to say that today they provided exceptional service! Though the service is usually fast and efficient today they were very patient and accommodated our party of at least 30 people last minute. The assistant manager, Maura was kind and helped us right away. She made sure our party sat together, cleaned our tables and got us situated all with a smile! If disappointment had a buffet, this would be it. So we got lured in by a Facebook ad and glowing reviews--BIG mistake. Apparently, people were raving about this place being the "cheapest buffet in OC." And now I understand why. It's not a deal, it's a warning. Let's start on a positive note so I don't sound completely bitter: the ambience? Surprisingly decent. Bright, spacious, clean, and they were playing music that made me feel like I was about to have a good time. Spoiler alert: I didn't. The servers? Lovely. Super attentive, quick to clear plates--probably so we'd leave faster. Now onto the food, aka the real crime scene. Salad section: I skipped it because I don't show up to a buffet to eat lettuce. It looked fine. Moving on. Sushi station: I had hope. That hope quickly left my body. The sushi was meh at best. Some rolls were okay, some were questionable, and the only part I truly enjoyed was the ginger and the seaweed--which, I'm pretty sure, says everything you need to know. American food section: The beef was cold. Not lukewarm--cold. Fried chicken? A sad, dry disaster. French fries? Soggy disappointment sticks. Everything fried tasted like it had been made back when Hometown Buffet was still open... Seafood section: This hurt my soul. I love seafood. I saw shrimp, mussels, and corn and thought maybe I could be saved. Nope. It was all warm-ish, like someone reheated leftovers but didn't care enough to stir it. No crab legs. No walnut shrimp. That's a personal betrayal. The deep-fried crab legs were... passable? But by that point, my taste buds had emotionally checked out. Cook-to-order station: Listen, when you have bad ingredients, no amount of sizzling theatrics is going to save it. It smelled promising but tasted like regret. Dessert station: Finally, a win? Kind of. Cotton candy and brownie were the MVPs. Everything else felt like a sad flashback to a school cafeteria. I think they're still using Hometown Buffet's dessert tray from 2017. In conclusion: I came hungry, left confused, mildly annoyed, and spiritually unfulfilled. If you want an adventure in mediocrity, go for it. No rice vinegar in the sushi rice so it just tasted like bland rice rolls. The pot roast was overcooked and dry. The clam chowder was watery, the carrot cake was more like spiced cake(without carrots), the cheesecake didn't taste like cheesecake because it was 2/3 whip cream, the soft serve was watery, the prepared potatoes skins were ok, the ceviche was 10 % shrimp and 90% cucumbers and no lemon juice. I used to come here since the food and the service was good. I was very disappointed this last time I went. They updated the way they give you the Mongolian grill. They give you a beeper with a number on it. The bad thing is that they confuse it now.. they'll give you the wrong plate and the food is flavorless. I used to put the teriyaki sauce and some salt and be okay. This time I felt like it lacked a lot of flavor. The rest of the food in the buffet area was the same. The Mac n cheese was watered down. The crab legs lacked flavor and was too deep fried. The orange chicken tasted too much like orange, as if they got orange slices and it was too citrusy. The cotton candy didn't taste good. It had a sour after taste. It was sad that nothing was as it used to be. Very disappointing. Not only that the place was playing old style hip hop and some was not kid friendly.
