I'll be honest, the food was decent. The spice bar was okay, didn't have some sauces like other hot pot places but it was manageable. The POS system for ordering was convenient as you can just pick everything you want all at once and then they give you a cart if you ordered a lot. For the price and options, I'd probably just stick to my go to spots. The layout of the place kinda threw me off too, maybe because it was empty but there was one wall of booth and then the rest were just tables and chairs with no cushion.

I came here previously for hot pot. It was a different name, I believe. From what I remember, it wasn't that great. The meat quality wasn't great, but edible. Not memorable... Came yesterday because my aunt saw a YouTube vid about affordable dim sum. DO NOT COME HERE FOR THEIR DIM SUM. They were not specialized in dim sum. There were only a few items so we ordered a few items. It tasted like the frozen dim sum that you pick up at the market. The lowest quality type of dim sum. The bbq pork buns were NOT EDIBLE. They tried to replace it, but the 2nd one was the same. Just a bit hotter. The shrimps rolls were not fully cooked. The shrimps were still raw. Shui Mai & har gow were edible, but like I said..it was the lowest quality. I didn't try the chicken feet, but one of the aunts said it wasn't good. The veggies were ok. Not much flavor tho Only the rice was good... If you really wanna try this place...Maybe go for the hotpot..

Good hotpot. Down the street, great prices. Large portions. The broths are good, we ordered the 4 broths, Recommend the sukiyaki, the kimchi, and two other broths . The meats are on the thicker side, so if you don't mind that .. you're good to go. They get pretty busy, and you order from a tablet.

Walked in and was greeted as we were looking at the menu on the monitor screen. Our party of seven was able to get sat relatively quick. We were allowed up to four different broths, split in four quadrants. Ordering was from a tablet, there was a slight issue with one of the tables tablets, as we realized half the table received their food and drink order quickly. Table Service check-ins could be more frequent, as this may have been able to catch the tablet issue sooner. There's a nice sauce bar selection and the food was delicious. Upon paying out, you check out on the tablet and a server will come out. The atmosphere was bright and well lit.

This is our new favorite hot pot place! We love the concept of choosing four different types of broth, which makes it fun to mix things up. They offer two menus: a limited option and a $40 menu with a great variety of meats. Every time we've gone, there's been no wait, and the staff is super quick and attentive. The music selection is great, and while the sauce bar has a more limited selection, I actually like it -- especially their signature sauce combinations. Plus, beers are always $3, which is a huge win. Definitely worth trying!

What I really like is that there I got pot with the add on dim sum choices. However, the dim sum was not that good. The flour/encasings were very thick and chewy in not a good way. Hot pot was good. Prices were good for hot pot. You order most things (maybe everything) on an iPad so that's nice that you don't have to flag them down because service took quite some time. First, I came (before my party) and it was quite empty. I stood there waiting to even be acknowledged for literally 5-10 minutes. (There were a handful of tables already being served but no staff came by to say anything at all.) Then, when they finally asked how they can help, I checked in, told them someone from my party already called and made the reservation and they said they're working on it. But, we sit in the waiting area for another 20 minutes. Someone else from my party finally decided to ask if the table is ready and they guide us to it. My questions are why didn't they come get us? However much longer would we have waited? Should we have kept checking in periodically to get our table sooner? It was an upsetting start to the meal. I like to give the benefit of the doubt but there were a decent amount of staff to do what was needed, unless the back give them that many tasks, as they were all back there for the majority of the time.

Came here for the AYCE all-you-can-eat hot pot ($30.99 per adult), and while the concept is good, the quality is not. Pros: Ordering off the iPad was convenient and easy. Staff was friendly, attentive, and readily available. Decent variety: meats, seafood, tofu, veggies, noodles, and rice all covered. Cons: Quality was underwhelming. Some items were canned goods or low-grade (meat, seafood, noodles). The meat wasn't the best cut, and you can tell from both taste and texture. I even started feeling a bit allergic by the end of the meal, possibly due to the quality or preservatives in some ingredients. Tried 4 different soup bases, and unfortunately, none stood out, they were all pretty bland. Overall, this place delivers on quantity but falls short on quality. You get what you pay for, and in this case, it's more about the AYCE novelty than a memorable hot pot experience.

Easy parking + spacious restaurant + no wait time. AYCE pp is $30 at dinner. There was plenty of meat and seafood options that you order off an ipad and a self-serve sauce bar. Broth was good and food came quickly since it wasn't busy. Overall, a good dinner spot.

Hot C Pot is an AYCE hot pot place where you order everything off a tablet and the waiters bring them out to you. They offer a good variety of broths for you to choose up to 4 from per table. They also have a self-serve sauce/dip bar which also has a good variety of options. Of the meats options, I think the brisket was my go to along with the tum yum or miso broth. Overall, its a solid AYCE hot pot which offers fresh meats, seafood, veggies in a some very flavorful broths. However, the highlight for some people maybe that they offer a good selection of beers for $3 ( I was able to get the Mango Cart from Golden Road Brewery). The service is generally very quick, bringing out the food pretty soon after you order it from the tablet. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and great for large group or families.

I've been here two times trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and somehow it just keeps getting worse. Every time I come back there are fewer people inside, and honestly I'm not surprised anymore. This restaurant is horribly run. There are barely four employees working the entire place. One girl in the front is doing EVERYTHING bussing tables, wiping them down, setting them up, seating people, fixing the tablets, dealing with customers. Meanwhile there are empty tables everywhere and customers are waiting 20 minutes to sit because she physically cannot do it all at once. For $31 per person, this is embarrassing. This isn't the employees' fault. This is ownership being cheap and refusing to staff properly. The workers look exhausted. I would be too if I had to run around doing seven jobs at once while management sits back counting money. It's uncomfortable to even watch. You can see the frustration on their faces. The kitchen looks messy. The meat quality has gone downhill small, crumbly, broken pieces that look like scraps instead of proper cuts. It's unappetizing and honestly makes you question what you're paying for. And the tablets? Every single time I've come, they malfunction. Frozen screens, internet errors, orders not going through. I've watched the girl in the front stressed trying to reset them while juggling everything else. If your whole system depends on tablets, maybe make sure they actually work. The dim sum launch was a joke. You hyped it up for weeks just to be completely unprepared. Food was running out, there weren't enough staff, and it felt chaotic. How are you launching a whole new concept when you can't even get your basic hot pot service under control? That shows a serious lack of competence from management. And the most disturbing part: my wife saw what looked like a meat cutter inside the women's restroom stall this one time. I walked past the kitchen in the morning and saw what appeared to be that same equipment being used to cut meat. That is disgusting. There's no excuse for that. This isn't just "a bad night." This is a pattern. Poor staffing, poor organization, declining food quality, malfunctioning systems, and questionable sanitation. The employees are friendly and clearly trying their best, but they are being set up to fail by terrible management. If the owners don't wake up and fix this, this business is not going to survive. There are way better hot pot places around Fountain Valley that actually know how to run a restaurant. Save your money and go somewhere else.

It's a good place to socialize with family and it's really a good place to celebrate and in my opinion it's really fun that you get to cook your own food and just eat it! Great service! We'll be back!

this is such a great little hot pot spot! i've only been here for lunch but i've enjoyed each time so much! the restaurant is very spacious and the staff are very attentive. each table has a digital tablet that you can use to order just about everything. the booths are pretty spacious and you can comfortablly sit four people inside. i do enjoy the ease of ordering from the tablet: you don't need to flag down an employee and you can just scroll through your options to order whatever you'd like. just make sure to take your time scrolling through the menu because there are so many options to choose from! you can choose up to four soups at once, and there are so many flavorful choices! if you like spicy soups, i recommend the mala, spicy sichuan, and the thai tom yum. if you want something more mild, the savory mushroom or the pho broth are also very good. once you've got your soups, go to town on all of your hot pot choices! they have your typical hot pot fair like fresh veggies, meats, seafood, noodles, dumplings, and tofu. i love piling up on things like cabbage, crown daisy, bokchoy, and lots of mushrooms. for meat, i tend to go for the leaner cuts of beef like chuck roll, brisket, and eye round. i also recommend the smoked sausage and quail eggs. there are a lot of seafood options as well like fish balls, crab stick, mussels, shrimps, squid - so much to choose from! finish your meal with some noodle choices + special mention to the rice cakes and a few tofu options. i also like how the items are brought out and staged for you at your table. they use a two-level metal rack - the higher part of the rack is for your meats and the lower part is for your veggies. this helps reduce the clutter on your table. don't forget the most important part of your hot pot experience: the sauce bar. it's on the smaller side, so employ patience as you pick your dipping container and mixing ingredients. there are so many great options to build a variety of delicious and flavorful sauces. i absolutely recommend hot c pot for any and all hot pot lovers! i've never had a bad meal here!

Came here on a Thursday afternoon with my husband for our anniversary lunch and it wasn't that busy. One hostess/waitress who satted us right away. We've been wanting to give this place a try base on the Yelp reviews. We don't usually eat hot pot often, so this was a new experience and treat for us. Pros: they have a lot of broth options to choose from. Most places only offer two flavors at a time, but this place gives you up to four so that's a plus. Being inexperienced, we were glad to have four broths to try. We picked: Hue, Tonkatsu (our favorite), Tom Yum, and Miso. All other broths were a little bland except for Tonkatsu. Their sauce bar had a lot of options and it was nice that they had a instruction for "their favorite" choice which did turn out pretty good considering we didn't know which sauces to mix together. I think this is a great place for anyone who is a beginner at hot pots. You get a lot of options and help because the foot traffic isn't too busy. We chose the lunch menu which has very little options for meat: beef brisket & pork belly. Seafood options were okay, but portions were definitely small, so just make sure to order a lot from the beginning (long list it). Veggie options was typical, bok choy, cabbage watercrest, etc. Lunch came out to a total of $61.85 for both of us for weekday lunch. This includes 15% tip (tip your waiter/waitresses!). Overall the experience was okay.. customer service was just okay, nothing spectacular and it's not something we would crave for or put into rotation for dining experience. I will say, if youre like me and get anxiety for overcrowded places but want a AYCE hot post experience, this place is worth a try but don't set your expectation too high for quality meats or customer service.

The menu was QR code only, I know this is a downside for some, not so much for me, but worth mentioning. There are 2 restrooms, single user, roomy and very ADA-accessible, the illuminated mirror is a very nice touch. And the food? First point is the price. You cannot beat this price, I believe. I can understand how business owners, managers, servers, and customers are all caught within the vicious fluctuations of markets and so on. However, what I was recently served at Kaizen Shabu last week was, to my mind, an egregious example of a restaurant offering well below the bare minimum of what should be expected for the prices listed (and my photos will show this, I believe). At the outset, I want to say I have no grievances with the servers. Our server was kind, attentive, and was elegantly multitasking. Bravo. Now, the food: we ordered the salmon "sashimi" plate, and what we were handed was a platter of the thinnest, grainiest, obviously-thawed and poorly sliced salmon I've ever eaten in my life. I was a bit shocked. At Cal Shabu Shabu (and other shabu places I tend to frequent more often), sashimi is... sashimi. It *looks* like sashimi because it IS sashimi: a piece of salmon purchased by the restaurant and knife-cut into appropriate portions depending on what portion size the customer has ordered. It is sashimi that gleans in the light, where the striations of fat and tissue are visible to the naked eye on the fish itself. As you can see from my photos, we were served paper-thin salmon that I could barely peel off of the plate with my chopsticks without ripping the fish into smaller, grainier pieces. It was all but inedible, in my opinion. This is not sashimi, and to serve such a thing for the price listed is beyond atrocious: it is an outright deception. Now, onto the side of veggies and noodles that come with every order of meat or fish. Perhaps the cooks could not be bothered, but what I received was broken tendrils of 2-inch udon haphazardly thrown into a bowl. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the chefs, with a dwindling supply of food nearer the end of the night, or if this restaurant truly does not care about the quality of what they are serving customers. Again, I think my pictures speak for themselves. I used to love coming here as the atmosphere was chic, and the servers are so kind. After my last dining experience, however, I cannot justify the price of my bill in the face of the quality of the food I am being served. I won't be returning, sadly. I hope the manager has an opportunity to look at these photos and perhaps reassess what can be done to improve what they are serving their customers.

When I walked in today, I was warmly welcomed by the two girl workers. They sat me and took my order very efficiently. The food was great, as per usual. Anytime I needed extra veggies or more hot drops, they brought it quickly. They constantly checked up on me, asking if everything was good and if I needed more water. As for how spicy I like my food, I definitely needed all the water I could get. I've been to the Irvine, Cypress and Garden Grove locations but nothing could beat the service I received here!

It ended up being a bit slow, so they let me grab some seats at the bar area for 30 min. Once it was time to order - got the large beef toro plate (marinated) with spicy miso broth. Everything came pretty immediately and got started with cooking. The broth itself has a little bit of a kick but isn't overwhelming. Was a nice warm flavor. The beef toro was melt in your mouth delicious and there was def more than enough slices for me. Veggies are unlimited - so you can ask for more of any veggies. Price was pretty reasonable considering the amount and quality of meat. Was a good time and would come back!

I was satisfied with the plate of veggies and udon they provided, my only issue was the rice. I wish I took a picture but it had brown bits and was too mushy. I bought a second bowl of rice for my son to eat and he ended up spitting it out and I didn't eat mine. It was overall a good visit, service was nice and they were not busy around 1:15pm when we came for late Friday lunch. If they could fix the rice it would be better!

I say it all the time and I'll say it again- Mokkoji is my absolute favorite place for shabu shabu!…read more Everything from the fresh quality of meat and veggies, broth flavor, attentive service, to the overall ambiance of the place has always made me want to continue coming back. This garden grove location in particular is not as crowded as its other locations in OC but it's great since I don't usually have to wait in line :) I always get the Spicy Pork broth which is $5 extra but is well worth the price if you want a more rich and flavorful broth. The veggie bowls come with each order of meat and they're my second favorite part of the meal. My favorite part would be the meats themselves. They're so fresh and well-marinated and I love dipping them into the sauces they provide on the side. I would recommend my personal faves, the flat iron and toro. Additionally, the 2 times I've been here I've been given complimentary sake on the house. Though I'm not the biggest fan of sake, I appreciate a restaurant giving out complimentary drinks. It adds to a customer's overall experience :)
