This is hands down the best hot pot place I have ever been to. The ingredients are so fresh even though I went near closing time on a weekday! The flavors are on point, not too salty and not too sweet just right.

This place has been bookmarked for a while now. Finally made it to the OC. This is a ayce hot pot and BBQ place. Evening is self serve. What attracted us here was the razor clams we saw in a video. But that ended up being the worst part of the meal. There was so much sand it was inedible. They really need to work on cleaning their shellfish more thoroughly. We meat they served was also the cheapest you can find, very lean and no fat which equates to very tough when cooked in the hot pot. The only thing that really stood out was the soup base. We each got individual pots and could choose 2 soup bases. I got the #1 house special and #7 Viet sour style - both broths were strong in flavor. I could just go just for the soup base lol. My service favorite was the grass jelly basil dessert. So yummy and refreshing. They had a variety of meats ( beef and pork), veggies and others. For the BBQ side, they put wax paper over the grill so some reason. I originally thought it was to not have to change the grill.... But they did change the grill, so not sure that the theory is around the paper. We enjoyed the bbq swai fillets and the galbi. I didn't try any of the cooked food. Oh, they also have cooked snow crab legs. We saw many people go for the snow crabs. They also had some buy 1 get 1 free and buy 3 get 1 free drink deals. We only had 3 people so we didn't end of getting any drinks but we saw lot of people ordering. The drinks were big. The place is pretty big so it's good for large groups. Service was ok. They looked short staffed. But they refilled our waters and soups when we asked. Overall, due to the meat and seafood quality, I unfortunately won't be back.

This spot may not wow you with extraordinary flavors, but it more than makes up for it with generous portions at a reasonable price. The meal is priced at $29.99 per person, and with a 20% promotion, I only paid $23.99 definitely great value! If you eat a lot, this is the place for you, but if you're looking for rich, bold flavors, you might not be as impressed. What makes this restaurant unique is that you can enjoy both shabu shabu and barbecue at the same table, a fun dining experience. The menu also features a variety of fresh seafood, including conch and crab, which are rare finds in many all you can eat places. The spacious interior and ample seating create a comfortable dining atmosphere, although the ingredient display could use some improvement. The service is very nice and attentive, with friendly and helpful staff. Plus, there's plenty of parking around, which is very convenient.

Not very cleanly but the food was really good with good variety but just some concerns about food safety and the dishes were not very clean. Probably would not come back but have to admit that the full size drinks, hotpot broth, and meat options were pretty good. Service was very good tho but the cleanliness and not very fresh hot bar affects the ambiance and experience.

I really wanted to like this place but for whatever reason the night we went was not good... When we arrived there wasn't anyone at the front so we walked inside and someone saw us and helped us get a table. Dinner time is grill + shabu, we had a toddler so he was free. We got up to get our food and they had sections of appetizers, cold dishes, raw seafood, raw meats, sauce and crab legs. We get to choose two different broths, I chose beef and miso. Crab legs were very good, fresh and warm! Here is where it went downhill... The appetizers were not being refilled during our dinner time, it was pretty full but because it's not monitored, many people left the lids off so the food got very dry and hard! I would try to wait for refills when the food went very low but they didn't refill anything. The sesame balls were the only thing I think got refilled because they were not super hard but kept in a separate compartment by itself. The meat was ok, very tough and chewy beef and only marinated meats were available. The marinated pork was better but only the first batch I got was tender, the second one my toddler couldn't chew and spit it out. The sauces were a bit messy, it was hard not to spill anything into each other! I saw someone ladle a dark sauce and it spilled into the other dark sauces! I think it was because the cough shield opening was too low and the sauces were tin far because I struggled to get sauce too. The butter might have mixed with something because it was sweet and tasted fishy. My dad really enjoyed the crab legs. My mom enjoyed the bulgogi beef and didn't mind the chewiness. I really like the bulgogi pork. Overall, I didn't think we got to enjoy the dinner, I think that day it was an off day perhaps. Unfortunately, we live pretty far so my chances of coming back is a bit slim. I would love to give it try again in the future if I can. The restroom was not clean, I'm glad it had toilet paper and soap at least but there was a lot of trash around the floor.

For my mama's 85th birthday, we let her choose the spot, and of course, she picked 98 Shabu & Grill Seafood AYCE. And honestly, who am I to argue? She's 85 and can do whatever she wants. I'm just literally here for the moral support. The place was a smorgasbord of international chaos--Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, and chicken wings (because why not?). It's like a United Nations of food, all piled onto one giant buffet. Without any sense of law and order what so ever. The grill? More like a heated surface covered in foil--definitely not for that smoky Korean BBQ taste we were hoping for. The shabu pots had Tom Yum and Pho broth, which was mid-- at best. But hey, my mom loved it. She could pick any meat or veggie she wanted, and that's basically her dream come true. Would I go back? Sure, for mama. But if it's just me, alone with my thoughts and my own free will? Hard pass. Everything was... ehhhh. Just like my dating life. But as long as mama's happy, I'm happy.

The service was great, everyone was helpful and attentive, but the only issue was the food and cleanliness. There was a hot bar with a few options like fried chicken, fried fish, and bunny shaped taro buns. The fried fish was soggy, the chicken was a bit dry, and it wasn't fresh. The food looked like it had been sitting there for awhile. The taro bun was extremely dry and hard to eat. The hot pot broth was alright, limited vegetable options as well. They use parchment paper on the grill for the meat, and change it out whenever there's too much burnt sauce on it. The meat had no grilled flavor and cooked unevenly. Then the bathroom is another story. It was awful in there. There were so many brown stains on the walls and doors, mold around the sink faucet, floor undone, and the sink was barely holding onto the wall. Overall, with the food was alright, but I wouldn't come back again.

3.5 stars A no frills budget friendly kinda AYCE spot that serves Vietnamese inspired marinated meats. We came during a weekday and Saturday lunch and both times we were the only patrons. I enjoyed this spot more for their hot pot. They only offer half pho broth and Tom yum broth and both were very tasty. Come on the weekend for more hot food items. If you're expecting a typical Korean BBQ kind of experience, this spot probably isn't for you. Their grills are covered in foil and they give you oil or butter? to squirt on it when grilling. The dipping sauce station has a lot of Vietnamese sauces.

This is one of the best ayce grill & hot pot place.

This foods are plentiful, great tasting and many many wonderful options and fresh for you to choose. The services were beyond excellent. They were very courteous, polite, nice and ready to serve and meet whatever you ask for. It s always the best here. The place is very clean, roomy, nice vibes and very enjoyable. I truly and highly recommended to everyone. Come and enjoy!!!!! It s well over 5 stars !!!!

I don't know if my taste has changed or if something is different about this restaurant. I've been a regular here for a long time, but I returned after almost two years, and everything is different. The broth and the marinated BBQ are very different. I'm considering not coming back because all the food was bland in flavor. Another disappointment was that my bowl was super dirty.

Place is okay, felt like trying to do both grill and hotpot kind have it being drag all over the place. Limited choice on meet. The marinated meats here are way better than the plain ones and there wasn't that much variety of meat either. Probably like 3 different types. Th snail were good and taro. The place is massive and it was quite empty.

Shabu broth is good! Seafood and meat fresh , good service!

Ask the Community - 98 Shabu+Grill Seafood AYCE

Can we use debit/credit card here?

Yes, they take card. There is a $1 discount per person if you pay with cash.

    Do they serve beer?

No beer (or any alcohol) when I went January 2024.

What days do they serve snow crab legs?

    Yes

As of today, are they using AC? It's 100 degrees outside and I don't want to go if they don't use ac?

They should always turn the AC on because it's hotpot which may help get ride of the odor. To be honest after we ate there, I don't recommend.

    Do they accept credit card?

    No. Only cash!

At that price, I was a little skeptical about the food. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza, so no issues with parking. The dining room is spacious with a variety of options, including sushi, American, Asian, fruit, salad, dessert and a large Mongolian stir-fry station where you choose your own ingredients and have them cooked to order. The sushi station was the most popular with nigiri and rolls. The salmon nigiri disappeared within a minute of being restocked, so timing is everything if that's what you're after. Considering the price, I wasn't expecting high quality, but I was surprised of the options available. The staff did great clearing plates promptly throughout the meal. I love the parsley salad, cabbage, roasted vegetables, the vegetable soup, and all the onions/tomatoes they have in some of the dishes on the buffet line. I LOVE rice (wow what a surprise) but here? Don't get filled up on it, though--save room for the meats! Besides the lamb shank, I liked the kofta and the gyro. The first batch of kofta I had was very juicy, and the second was more on the drier side. Same goes for the gyro. It was cut kind of thick and was a little dry. The garlic sauce they have went very well with it! I also got the beets, and they were my favorite item. They were sweet and tender, cooked to perfection. The cantaloupe and honeydew were both very sweet. I think that's kind of hard to come by these days. Their pudding was okay, not my favorite. I also tried the baklava, and it is definitely one of the better ones I have ever had. Definitely recommend this place, and I will come back.

The music was at a reasonable level and the ambiance was pretty cozy but stimulating. Some of the reviews in here mentioned that the music was loud and they couldn't hear one another, but our experience felt quite intimate and calm compared to going to a mainstream place like Gen where it really is super loud. Anyway, definitely a place I have already recommended to some coworkers.

I literally called Bulgogi 2Ls before coming because I saw **$21.99 AYCE Korean BBQ** and thought…read morethere had to be a catch. Lunch price? Weekdays only? Nope. $21.99 **all day, even weekends**. Okay then, you got me. They have three tiers, with the highest around $32.99, but unlike sushi where I'll usually pay for premium, I almost always do the lowest tier for Korean BBQ. I don't really care about all the marinated premium meats. Give me brisket, some sides and dipping sauce and I'm happy. Unfortunately, the **brisket was probably my least favorite thing here**. Brisket is usually pretty safe, but this one was so thin that I barely got any meatiness from it. I didn't even really want to keep eating it, but... protein lol. Oddly enough, I liked the **beef belly** more. It came marinated even though it wasn't listed in the marinated section, but the flavor and meat quality were better. The problem for me is beef belly is still so fatty, and if half of what I'm eating is fat, it kind of defeats what I'm trying to accomplish. The sides were a mixed bag. Tofu soup was mediocre, fried rice was decent, japchae was fine, and randomly they had tteokbokki and little tempura onion rings. There's definitely enough variety if you're someone who likes eating a little bit of everything at KBBQ. They also have **soft serve**, which I'm not going to lie, was part of what got me here. It was strawberry and vanilla, the machine was a little difficult, the scoop was tiny, and the whole station could've been kept cleaner. But once I figured it out, I got my ice cream and moved on with my life. Unlimited Pepsi refills too. I would've preferred Coke, but for $21.99, beggars can't be choosers. The restaurant itself is flashy with lots of lights and a little all over the place. Parking is kind of annoying, but service was nice and quick. Would I rush back? Probably not, mainly because **brisket is what I want at Korean BBQ** and theirs didn't do it for me. But $21.99 for AYCE every day is still kind of crazy nowadays. If you're not picky about brisket and like trying a bunch of meats and sides, it's absolutely worth checking out for the price.
