Was excited but nervous about the highlight and splurge of our trip being an all around Oahu 60 minute helicopter ride but it was the most extraordinary thing I have done together with my hub and two teenagers. Booked this after reading other reviews about Paradise Helicopters and we were not disappointed. The booking team was good about walking us through the process especially with the additional Covid 19 procedures. From the moment we arrived until we landed-A+ amazing. We chose the hour long tour but you can also do 20 or 40 mins. We took off just outside of the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. We opted for doors on except for the pilots door was off. We saw Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Koko Head, amazing waterfalls, where Jurassic Park, Jumanji and other movies were filmed and everything in the middle. The best part of the trip was our pilot Ed. He was so knowledgeable, played great music and called out every historical fact. He has a lot of experience and was sensitive to the fact most of our group could get motion sickness. He was patient and offered multiple sure fire ways to guard against that. Hard to impress a 16 and 15 year old but both of them have non stopped talking about it. If you enjoy seeing great views from above then helicopters are the way to go. I decided to treat my girls to a great Hawaiian vacation this year. I figure why not make it memorable. The pricing for our 45 minute helicopter ride was very reasonable. We decided to do doors open instead of closed which made it more exciting. We were greeted by a great smile from a female staffer who gave us safety instructions and assisted us to the helicopter. The pilot, Riley, was great with bring us over the ocean and various spots on the island. He was very detailed and informative about island facts. He did a great perfect landing on the ridge for us to enjoy the scenery after flying us near the sacred waterfalls. Simply loved the trip and would do it again. ENJOY! read more

I wish I didn't have to write this review, but, I don't want anyone else to have to experience what I did. . . It was always on my bucket list to go in a helicopter. So, while staying at Turtle Bay, I treated my brother and myself to a helicopter ride. It was organized by the hotel concierge. We were so excited. Upon arrival at the helicopter office, Kanani showed us a diagram of where each of us would be sitting (there were 2 other people whom we'd never met on the same helicopter. I saw the seat they planned to put me in and I told Kanani that I'd prefer to be on the outside (or in either of the 2 back seats). She said, "oh, you will love it!" So, I got in & soon found myself staring at an ancient control panel the entire time. It was the worst waste of money. I couldn't see anything. I politely pulled her aside when it was over and asked her for a refund since I couldn't enjoy the view (the whole point of doing it). She said, "call the main office and they will be able to handle it." So, stopped back at the concierge desk on my way back into the hotel and mentioned it to them. They said, "I'm SO sorry! Yes, we will call the company and take care of it for you." (It had been charged to my room at Turtle Bay). I thought, "great. The experience sucked, but, at least I'm not going to lose hundreds of dollars because of it. An hour of my life, yes, but not lots of money." Unfortunately now that I'm back home, the charge is still on my bill. The concierge has now put me in touch with the helicopter company directly. They have refused to give me a refund, stating, "you should've specified that you wanted a specific seat when you first booked it." Again, it was the Turtle Bay concierge who was kind enough to facilitate the booking. But, even if it had been me, how would I (or anyone) know to ask for a seat that didn't have an almost completely obstructed view? Had I known I'd have such an obstructed view, I never would've spent hundreds of dollars to do this. I get that they have weight requirements, but, this middle seat should go at a discount with a disclaimer. To summarize, the customer service of this place is really bad. You might end up having to stare at a large console of instruments for the duration of your helicopter tour, and the helicopter itself was archaic (that last part wouldn't have been a big deal if I'd been able to see outside). What a fantastic experience! I got engaged using Paradise Helicopters Tours and they were so easy to work with. They were discrete and professional. I felt taken care of by flying with them. I will be honest, flying in a helicopter is scarier than I thought, but the pilot remained calm throughout the entire ride and knew exactly when bumps would occur. He made sure to calmly explain everything to us and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Also, it is the helicopter from Magnum PI which was cool. Having no doors added to the excitement and then being able to land in Kualoa Ranch (where they filmed Jurassic Park) just added to the whole thing. Definitely fly with them! We were able to see things that no one is allowed to hike anymore such as the stairway to heaven and the most amazing waterfall. WHAT A WAY TO SPEND THE FIRST DAY OF 2019! I purchased a heli ride for my S.O. as a Christmas gift, because experiences are greater than things, am I right?! So thankfully I booked the afternoon flight because it was NYE the day prior after all and it took me all five hours from the time I woke up until we stepped into the helicopter to get over my hangover, just in the nick of time! Plus, they also offer ginger candies in the office which helps if you get motion sickness. I normally don't but didn't want to take any chances in my compromised state. This was both of our first helicopter rides and I couldn't have asked for a smoother, more incredible experience than we had with these guys. From booking to the time we touched down, everyone was friendly, professional, competent, and capable, and I especially loved Fiona, the resident dog who came through the office doors wearing the same company shirt as the rest of the staff! Our pilot was Kai and we got to ride shotgun with him on our DOORS OFF flight (guys, do yourself a favor and do it this way)! He was great at pointing out landmarks that even us as locals appreciated; we learned new things about areas and places we were familiar with. Helicopter rides are so much more peaceful than I anticipated, even though they are clearly powerful pieces of machinery not to be messed with. It was like being a bird flying around, enjoying the sights, soaring over and around the ridges of the Ko'olaus and North Shore. The vantage point from up top is truly breathtaking, and a must do for anyone on the island, local or visitor, at least once! My favorite part was navigating through the valleys and being able to see the top of Sacred Falls cascading down to the valley floor. The scale, the power, the raw beauty of it all was so special. What incredible experience enjoying the tour by air. Only thing that I didn't enjoy was the Communication. I had set this up for my sister, girlfriend and I to have private experience due COVID we wanted to enjoy without being being like sardines in bus or any other place that was crowded. Upon arrival we where excited to experience something that we couldn't imagine but it was one of the Bucket list that we wanted to do. We were never told that we would be having a guest on our tour. I was speechless that plane that we all going to be in we can fit five people this including the pilot. I did the research that we only can fit four people. The value of the price that I paid for this tour be private went out the door. What happened to Covid regulations? I felt very uncomfortable that my girlfriend was going to be seated with a stranger which I wasn't notified by the staff if this would have bought to my attention I won't never agree. We all like sardines in small helicopter. I don't appreciate it that but what I can say. The pilot was very communicative and paid great attention to everything. If you had any questions he would answer them. I try to contacting the company after but because of the weekend and timing I didn't express my thoughts. We did the Oahu Magnum Experience from Turtle Bay Resort and it was one of the most memorable experience i have ever had!! The staff at Paradise Helicopters was amazing and actually upgraded us to a Doors Off flight! This was my first time in a helicopter and the pilot made sure i felt comfortable and safe. My favorite part of the flight was when we flew thru the Ko'olau Mountains and you are literally flying thru the clouds. Absolutely phenomenal! We were checked in by Meghan (I'm soooo hoping I spelt her name right!!!) She's multi talented from check in to ground crew, to Head of Safety, to Head of fun, to Head of information! I went with my 8 year old (she sat next to Nate in the front middle...so no where near a doors off point) and for the first time in her life...she didn't have one word to say!!! but...she LOVED it!! We flew over the rainforest, Jurassic area, Sacred Falls, Waimea Falls, Pearl Harbour, Dole Plantation and the North Shore!! We snapped some pics before our flight they suggested so our hair still looked good. Lol We went on a 40 min tour starting at turtle bay and south to Pearl Harbor back over the Pali. I scheduled my tour on June 29 for July 3rd. I received confirmation of my payment and my tickets via email. On July 1st I called to ask a question about where I was to meet for the tour. I was placed on hold and when the agent returned she informed me that they had made a mistake and that they ( Paradise) had cancelled my reservation. They offered me July 11th or a refund. I will be home on the 11th so I was forced to accept the refund. Later that day I record notification that the refund to my credit card would happen in 3-7 days. A large amount of money is in limbo on my credit card that I can't use now for up to 7 days. This company treated me unfairly without explanation or a positive resolution. The only positive is that I didn't just show up on the reservation date. Unfortunately , bad reviews often are placed at the bottom where no one will see. read more

I must admit we did not pay for it, it was a gift for our honeymoon. But if we did, I think it is worth the $300+ for two people. Total airtime was about 45min-1hr. \ Located up by Turtle Bay Resort, we rented a car and drove along the coast for an hour and a half from Waikiki which was one of the best parts of the trip. There are two ways to get up to Turtle Bay, but I would highly recommend driving along the shore instead of up the middle of the O'ahu. If we had more time, we would have returned down the middle of the island and stopped at the Dole Plantation. The staff is very friendly and helpful to ensure safety. The pilot was very informative and ensured that everyone in the helicopter was able to see the major sites even if it meant to turn around and pass by the other direction. Never once did we feel in danger or uncomfotable. I'd recommend this to anyone. Sites we saw off the top of my head - North Shore, Chinaman's Hat, Diamond Head, Sacred Falls, Stairway to Heavan, Pearl Harbor, Dole Plantation, Gilligan's Island, Site where Jurassic Park was filmed, and incredible scenery all over. read more
