Now that we've got that straight, let's dive in. The Edge is the chameleon of Fredericksburg and adapts to what guests need. It sits on a beautiful property with stunning views, it offers ample space for large parties and plenty of TVs--perfect for catching football games during the season. The food? Definitely worth mentioning. The food options are predominantly American. I ordered a burger and a Pizza Roll and I couldn't stop raving about that damn roll (FYI, it's not a Totino's sized pizza roll). Despite the initial confusion, The Edge turned out to be a great find along the 290 Wine Shuttle route. Service: not the greatest, lots of lax young employees. I did notice our first morning waking up that they have tiny itty bitty ants everywhere near the kitchenette. We didn't have any sweets out but they were still there. We paid extra for deer corn and I wish I wouldn't have bc they only came in the middle of the night so we didn't experience it. What was odd was the check in location was approximately 15 - 20min away from the actual cottages. It was rather difficult for us to navigate to them having a later check in (8pm) we drove right after work from Austin. Breakfast vouchers are given upon check in which was a pleasant surprise. Overall I'd come back and try staying at one of their bigger cottages like the 2bd with our kids.

In addition to 6 cabins...There's a community room, where breakfast is served that has a fireplace, wine glasses for those bottles you brought home with you, and games should you be with a group and want to drink and play games as a part of your R&R. Ample parking with chargers for your Tesla if that's how you roll. Craig and the gang were incredible hosts, who are close by enough to make sure you've got what you need, but behind the scenes enough that you can feel like you're secluded in the cabins! They have some great stories, and are easy to chat with, I lost track of time visiting. Speaking of their hospitality, the breakfasts were amazing and so filling. They never let your coffee cup get low... have an assortment of creamers to pick from (but if you need something specific like oat milk, I'd reach out beforehand - they seem very happy to accommodate allergies and sensitivities). First day was an egg bake and potato hash, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, and a cinnamon roll with house made icing that was perfection. The next day was fruit/yogurt/granola and eggs, sausage, bacon and delicious French toast! They also have a grill on the property so you could likely bring in some hamburger meat or steak and potatoes and cook up a nice lunch or dinner if you didn't feel like adventuring into town since weekend waits at restaurants can be long if you're like me and didn't boom well in advance. Also, reach out to them when you book and they can help you with that or suggestions for meal spots or which wineries to hit up. Ok on to the property. I found the accommodations to be perfect. The cabin has plenty of creature comforts and then some (the bed adjusts to raise your head and feet - perfect for post in town exploring). The bath is deep, long and roomy, perfect for soaking and relaxing with the jets going. The shower is spacious and has two shower heads. There's a small fridge with a tiny freezer space. Coffee maker with a ton of selections, including tea, with sweeteners, honey, creamer. Comfy cozy bed, a chest with some blankets to take outside and swing. And an electronic fireplace for ambiance, you can select if you want heat or not. I spent a lot of time on the swing, looking off to the cows in a pasture across the creek, listening to birds singing off in the distance and the occasional rooster (far enough away to barely be noticeable). The swing is deep and so comfy. You can easily curl up and take a nap there. Also it was nice to swing and look over the community fire pit at night. They have random communal events too eg for Halloween and Christmas, it's all very homely.

We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here.

(Thanks Kate) We arrived, went to our cottage as instructed and immediately knew it was a super good choice. Skip, the owner, came over to see us about 15 minutes after our arrival. He walked us through the "how-to" for staying, operating things, where to find the coffee grounds, etc. The fresh baked bread Skip provided was delicious as was all the food during our stay. (Dona says to mention the chocolate cake provided for the afternoon snack - it was to "die for" she says). Skip said he and Kate were both available during our stay but would honor our privacy.
