Alarming Food Safety Standards and Procedures This used to be my go to place. Trust me I love their menu, sangrias and music on the patio. However, that changed! A few months ago, I was sitting at the bar for dinner and I ordered a fig and prosciutto flatbread. Upon my second bite I felts something really hard. When I spit it out it was a big piece of GLASS! Yes glass! We were sitting at the bar so I talked to the bartender and she saw the glass! All she said was sorry can I get you anything else? No safety procedures, no informing the kitchen a manager or anyone so they could log or investigate how that could have happened so it didn't happen again! To be honest I never saw a manager that night. My bf finished his meal and we never returned! I emailed Jason the owner and all he said was "how surprising that would be if it happened". No urgency or inquiring for more details so he could track how that could have happened and improve their procedures. Anyway, I hope their lack of care for their costumers doesn't end up in tragedy. So where do I begin. I drove all the way to a work event in sterling from Silver spring to see this food truck from what I can only imagine is a great restaurant in DC. When we arrived the food truck waitress seemed a little upset and really didnt want to be there. Apparently she was supposed to leave at 2 and more people arrived at 2:15 (muah & my entire entourage) so she Began taking orders and I basically just ordered the whole menu on the wall as not to bother anyone! I was taking it back to Silver spring with me anyway because there was nowhere to sit and eat. And I of course needed bacon sticks for the 47 minute ride home. Everything was excellent and flavorful. Went here for a special occasion and was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had the pork chop and my wife had the salmon. Both were very good. I was not overly impressed with the s'mores dessert, but that didn't detract from the meal. Our waitress was a bit busy, so her attention was spread too thin, thus the 4-star review. read more

We absolutely love this place! This was our second time visiting Parallel and it hasn't disappointed. The first time we only tried the Duck Fat Fries and many glasses of red wine. The wine selection is pretty diverse and the fries were yummy! The second time we only had red wine. I hope they rotate the stock soon or we may run out of red wine to try LOL! I went here on a Friday night. It was packed and there was a performer outside. The vibes are great. I did not try the wine or whiskey so this review will be edited later. I did review the selection and it was intriguing. The white and red sangrias were delicious and they poured ALOT compared to other places. Service was great as well. Nothing to complain about. As for food, my girl friend and I ordered a bunch of plates. Our favorites were the wagyu beef sliders and the fried pickles. I don't recommend the duck fat fries. We thought it would be different but it just tasted like regular fries with Parmesan cheese on top haha. The cheese and bacon dip was a disappointment. My first visit here was a great experience. I came for the happy hour which is 3 to 4pm select food, wine, beer, and well drinks are $4. Then 4 to 6pm its $6. I tried a few well drinks and their wine. They were both great. The staff was amazing too we had various bar tenders while we were there. ***review for dessert and wine only*** After dinner down the road my friends and I decided we wanted dessert/an after dinner drink and headed over to Parallel. Now, I debated whether or not to even write this review since I have only been there once and we ONLY had dessert, but since the place bills itself as a dessert/wine bar I'm hoping maybe I can save someone the experience. Let me start off by saying, I love wine machines. I was happy to see the huge wine list and whole room of machines. I thoroughly enjoyed that part of the experience. Although be aware sampling their wines can run you $3-4 a taste, so it's not exactly economic. I ended up sampling the Cherry Tart and then going with a full glass of a local favorite: Pearmund's Ameritage. We ordered a dessert sampler and bread pudding to split between 4 people. Sadly, I was not impressed with any of it. The bread pudding was super dense (think fruitcake consistency) and the sampler didn't really have anything on it of interest. Even the chocolate covered bacon was meh. How is that even possible????!!! We opted to sit outside, and although I enjoyed the patio, it might be time to deep clean the seating. Stained upholstery and sticky surfaces are a huge turn off for me. I also noticed that the women's bathroom towel dispenser is almost completely ripped off the wall. Lastly, I thought it was really weird that our server said the kitchen was closing shortly after we got there. Their website says they are open until 12 and this was around 730, so I'm not sure what was happening there... Pretty unimpressive visit all around. read more

Ali Recht, General Manager, met with us twice to walk us through our options; guiding us to what turned out to be excellent appetizer, entree and dessert selections. There were several foodies in our group, and everyone raved about ALL of the food, and the service couldn't have been better. The bacon lollipops and House deviled eggs kept flying off the bar, and the bourbon smashes were a big hit. The signature Hog Heaven burger was the fan favorite, with the pistachio crusted salmon a close second. I highly recommend Parallel for any function or any meal. I've been to Parallel Wine Bistro a couple of times now... First off, I love the beer menu. It's very long - so unlike some restaurants and bars where you get to choose from just a few brews - here you may find it's hard to choose - because there are so many great options! For now, the beer is bottle or can - they currently have one beer tap. Both times I visited - they had the Mango IPA on tap (Adroit Theory Brewing Co., Purcellville, VA). I tasted the Mango IPA - not one of my favorites. Over the course of the last two visits - I've tried the following Ales: Soul Style IPA - 6.5% ABV (Green Flash Brewing Co., San Diego, CA) Alpha Ale - 5.1% ABV (Wild Wolf Brewing Co., Nellysford, VA) HI-5 IPA - 5.9% ABV (Terrapin Beer Co., Athens, GA) American IPA - 7.2% ABV (Schlafly Beer, St. Louis, MO) All were good, solid Ales - I particularly enjoyed the Soul Style IPA and the American IPA. I've also sampled a few things from the menu, including the baked oysters - baked with smoked Gouda cheese and bacon - very tasty! I also tried the fries cooked in Duck Fat (because duck fat makes everything better!) and the Cajun Fried Pickles - both were damn tasty! The wait staff was on point and kept us well lubricated drink-wise. Last Saturday when we visited, we noted that the restaurant is undergoing some renovations, so you may notice some things don't look finished. They are redoing some of the flooring and changing up some of walls - so don't hold that against them. Will be interested to see how the place looks when it is completed. On top of that, there was dirt on the utensils and when we went to pay, the staff member was having a phone conversation the entire time while at the counter and we had to wait until another person who worked there noticed this in order for us to pay for the food. I'll be honest, my experience here was pretty poor. I came last night and sat at a high top at the bar with one other person. It was over 10 minutes before someone approached our table and when they did, they asked if we needed anything. Uhhhh well, yes. I'd like to order food and drinks. We ordered a glass of wine, a cocktail, and an appetizer. Everything came out fairly quickly but when we finished our food and drinks, no one was around. The bar staff never left behind the bar and servers never came by. We were in some messed up limbo where no one would help us. I should have known what I was in for when the two-top next to me had to go to the bar to ask for boxes and drop off their card to pay. Finally, someone showed up (almost 20 min after we finished our first round) and we ordered another round of drinks. We never had a chance to order a third round. We had been there for almost two hours and only talked to staff twice. I had to flag someone down and just hand them both credit cards and tell them to just run it because I knew it would be an unreasonable amount of time to wait on my actual check. I'll be honest, I probably won't be back based on this experience. It's shame because I like the menu and drink selection. I know this review is counter to almost everyone else's and maybe it was an off night but to have two drinks in almost two hours is not how I planned to spend my Friday night. read more

Been trying to get here and finally made it. We really enjoyed our meal! We were seated promptly and our waitress was very attentive. My friend and I shared 2 dishes. We had the small cheese and charcuterie board. We chose Brie, Gouda, and cheddar with porter and they were delicious. The meats were outstanding - chorizo, prosciutto, and Finocchiona salami. They served it with crackers, slices of baguette, apples, and apple butter. The baguette was the weak item. Upon our request, they added extra apples for us. We also had the ruby citrus salad. The ingredients were mixed greens, orange pieces, ruby beets, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, fennel salad, and goat cheese crumbles. The creamy herb vinaigrette was one of the most amazing dressings I've ever had and it was a perfect addition to the salad. I would ask for more oranges if I ordered it again - but could've eaten an entire salad myself. The restaurant is fairly loud and the table very close together. We were surprised when they opened the "wall" to the outside terrace. There was a musician playing who was happily not playing too loud.
