Horrible service. Super rude staff. They don't even refill the buffet. The girl who does the lunch service will not even acknowledge you when you reach, we waited 15 mins for someone to make eye contact or to tell us where to sit. When no one came, we went to an empty table and another customer said they were sitting there, so it was awkward but we got up and went to another. We were four adults and two toddlers who don't eat Indian food yet and ordered four buffets plus two other meals. But since we took few bites of each other's plates we were told that we will have to pay for additional buffet. We would have left much more in tip than the stupid additional cost. After peach picking in Brentwood, CA, we discovered Parantha House on our way back to peninsula. This is hands down one of the most flavorful and authentic North Indian food I have had in a while. Firstly, it was really easy to find parking near the restaurant. I ordered a Dil-Jeet Veg Thaali. The food was absolutely delicious. It tasted fresh and is reasonably priced @ 10.99. A great relief from outrageous Bay Area prices. This thali included two paneer dishes, dal, jeera(cumin) rice, boondi raita(savory yogurt with lentil puffs), two freshly made and well cooked rotis(freshly cooked whole wheat Indian bread) and a gulab jamun. The quality was great and quantity of food was aptly generous for one person. Ambience was quiet. There were a decent number of customers - not overcrowded at all. It also looked like a lot of people visited the restaurant that day. A lot of tables were being cleaned by the server. It's a good sign because that means they go through selling the food they prepare everyday and make things fresh. From the service perspective, when we stepped in, there was no one at the counter. We waited for a few mins. Then one of the other customers asked me to ring the bell. As soon as I rang the bell, someone came outside to take our order. Order taking was quite fast. And the food was served within 10-15 mins after. I definitely recommend this place and will be back if/when I am back in Pleasanton. read more

Been to Parantha house multiple times. This is our go to place whenever we drive by Bay Area from SoCal. Parathas are great, sometimes one paratha is big for a person. The butter, achar, and raitha accompanying the paratha also tastes amazing. My favorite is the chilli paratha just thin and right amount of crispness. Place is a bit small but the food is served at your table very fast once you place the order and pay for it. read more

This is my first time here. Let me say this. This is not one of those restaurants you go for a special date or for its ambiance This is not a health food place either. This is the kind of Indian - Punjabi style - restaurant that you go for the unpretentious and honest taste! The selections were kind of unique. So was the format. I liked the way they don't offer the usual choice of curries and other entres. You get to enjoy different kind of Parathas a la carte. Parathas tasted so authentic. They had the genuine flavor of Indian 'dhaba'(some what like street food). The thali was sumptuous and well priced. Poories and roties (bread) served with 'shahi thali' were spot on. Good parathas, served with butter, mango pickle and boondi raita. I like the radish and hara Bhara. They get really busy in the evenings. They will adjust salt to taste. I find everything too salty. Also have deserts and snacks but in evenings their kitchen can only do parathas. Seating is limited. Strange rule, you can't sit down until your order is placed. So till the table is empty you have to stand and look at people. Outdoor seating is not very functional. We generally do take out. Buffet was minimalistic and lacked flavor. Paneer Kulcha with Chole was meh. Service was non existent (I tipped them upfront while paying for my food). Restroom ran out of soap. Had to remind restaurant employee to refill it twice. They ended filling up the soap bottle with water instead of soap. Here is my pros and cons on Parantha house. Pros: 1. Parking area was empty during lunch, easy to park. 2. The chaat was good, pain poor not available. 3. Prices very good. Cons: 1. The counter lady not friendly, either she or the owners have no clue about customer service. Got mad at us when we were done and started walking out, I guess we need to clean up our own table after leaving a 18% tip?! So we need get out own plates and utensils, and water, etc. These people just suck. 2. The food flavors not good, tastes old and bland, and the food tasted weird, the Parantha flavor was off, I can't figure it out. 3. Food took a while to come out, not sure why, all the food tasted old. Conclusion, I won't eat there again, there are a few other similar places around the area that are way better, this place needs to do better and provide good customer service. Very good food but with caveats. The food here really can be great! Similar to home style Punjabi dhaba food BUT with caveats - I've come here a couple times so will share the details. I'd recommend coming around 4 - 7pm. Coming during peak lunch or dinner hours food either takes a while and comes a little cold. They do make the food fresh and you can tell so as long as they're not crowded it tastes great. Their chole (chickpea curry) is the only curry I've tried which could be a bit spicier but is tasty! I particularly enjoy the paneer stuffed paratha (flatbread) but all their parathas are generally decent. As a bonus there's usually indoor seating and the complex has plenty of parking. The food from their menu is very good. The parathas with white butter are awesome. We have tried many of the varieties, notable ones being missi roti and papad paratha. It is four star because the last three times we went for dine in 30 to 40 min before closing, we have had them direct us to do take out. The restaurant should adhere to closing timings and not turn away people. The person at the counter is sometimes rude as well . Following the lead of food bloggers we went to parantha house to try the lunch buffet today. It was busy we had to wait 20 mins to be seated. The menu list is not very long but all the food they served from appetizers, chaat, entrees to dessert were delicious and non greasy. I specially liked the curries and Gajar ka halwa. However, staff needs to pay attention towards the food table, customers had to let the staff know that food trays need a refill. It is a new place, and I hope they improve/change based on the feedback online. We tried the place twice once for parathas and other time we tried special thali and tiki chat. Achari paratha had so much fenugreek that it was inedible without yogurt. Rest of the parathas lacked filling for my liking. Thali and tikki were generous in portion and tikki was well crisped. I didn't like the flavors of the food. Chole just tasted salty to me without any tangy flavors that should accompany a chat. Roti was good in the thali, but poori were oily and undercooked, and rice was of lower quality. Rest of the thali curries had raw spices flavor. One of our regular spot for paranthas as we live in Dublin! You gotta try the Aloo, Mix Veg, and Papad Paneer ones--they're super tasty. They also have yummy Vadapav and Chole Bhature. We went in for lunch, but there was no one at the front to greet, seat or take our orders while we stood around wondering what to do. Finally, a gentleman took his place silent and unsmiling behind the register and took our orders without greeting us. He did not seat us immediately as most of the tables were messy. One table was askew and strangely positioned. We once again stood around awkwardly for someone to clean the tables. When no one arrived, we dragged the askew table to the center and seated ourselves. The parathas and accompaniments were quite good, and so was the chole poori. The mango lassi was a different case, brighly colored yellow with food coloring, to mask the lack of mango perhaps? It stained my daughter's tongue, a bright yellow, a perfect match to the wall paint behind us. No one looked in the direction of the eaters. No one enquired if everything was okay. Customer service, huh..what is that? The bathroom had a stale smell; paper towels and toilet paper littered the sink and floor, a most unpleasant end to a blah experience. I go by the restrooms to gauge the hygiene practiced in the kitchen. Needless to say, we will not go back. There is a new Indian Restaurant that has opened next door that we will try. read more

Quality has significantly deteriorated since it opened. Prices have hiked, they are even more than some decent ambience restaurants for certain things. Our today's order was placed more than an hour before when we arrived to pick up and it wasn't ready. Lady at the front desk was extremely rude stating it is busy and she can cancel the order if we would like.... btw it was already 8.40 pm , so didn't have much choice. On one other occasion, they gave spoiled Hakka noodles. Back then I thought it was one of the odd incident and person at the desk was kind enough when I brought back the noodles immediately.
