Half Firecracker Shrimp/Half Oyster (Large only)
    Paula T.

Definitely one of the best Po boys in town. We got the half oyster and half firecracker shrimp, $28 cash. I wish they stuffed it together rather than splitting it, but we ended up combining ourselves. Bread was perfectly buttered and crispy and the oysters and shrimp were fresh. I loved how they tossed the shrimp in their sauce, like a version of dynamite shrimp. However, I'm a bigger fan of the spice in the batter rather than coated, but that's just me. Bring cash for their menu price!

Finally made it to Parasol's... old school neighborhood bar for drink and food. I went for lunch and had the fried oyster BLT sandwich. Bottom line... it was tasty but very small. 5-6 fried oysters, some thin bacon, and L&T all on fresh white bread. It was more of an appetizer than a main. I should have ordered their famous roast beef debris po boy... next time. Setting is 1950's pub.

We stopped here after a tour of the garden district. The service was slow, but the food was worth the wait. They were big on Crawfish and many folks seemed to be enjoying them. I had a Cuban sandwich and my husband had the fish.

If you want a delicious overstuffed shrimp and oyster po-boy, get in here! Perfectly fried light and crispy shrimp. Service was excellent. Bring cash or credit. Order your drinks at the bar and food on the other side and sit and enjoy. But please, clean your table of all trash. There were several handwritten signs!

You gotta love a neighborhood bark! Walking distance from my house. It's great to have terrific staff great food and locals to hang out with. Even if you're not a local, you will feel welcome. You can sit inside at the bar or up above in the restaurant area or Copa chair on the outside patio.!

This is such a great little bar and restaurant. The debris sandwich and fry's as out of this world and some of the best I ever had. I love the outdoor seating.

Local dive bar in the Irish channel just a block walk from Magazine street. This welcoming bar is worth the stroll to enjoy a beverage with many locals. Super chill and relaxed atmosphere. They have tons of TVs playing the game and they are a great local hangout for the college or NFL football games Their food menu is extensive. I didn't eat as we had just come from dinner but we were amazed with the sights and smells of the food offerings. Supposedly, they are known for their Po'boys. I will certainly consider the roast beef debris next time I am in town.

Google hours are different so call ahead just to make sure the kitchen is not closed. We arrived Monday night at 930 pm and the kitchen closed at 9. We came back the next day and ordered firecracker shrimp po' bo sandwiches, a shrimp basket and fried pickles. Everything was delicious! The portions were huge and we definitely could have ordered less. The loaf they use for the po' boys is fresh and soft. We wanted to order dessert and other appetizers but they weren't available like the bread pudding. The restaurant section has a seperate door from the bar section so your kiddos aren't walking through the bar section.

If you are looking for your dream po boy, go here for the firecracker shrimp! Perfectly crispy, a little spicy, nicely balanced flavors with the veg, and a great bun to finish it off. This was the best po boy I've had in NOLA. I also got the brussel sprouts, which was an enormous portion (awesome) but a little too crispy and oily for my taste. My friend also really enjoyed the regular shrimp po boy and coleslaw. We didn't have them but heard the onion rings are also fire! We had to wait a little while for the food even though it didn't seem super busy but it was worth it. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day, and they have a scattering of picnic tables. They also have an indoor bar area and another area where you can order that has more casual tables inside. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the Po Boy Firecracker Shrimp! It has a nice kick and zing to it! My mom got the roast beef, but I found it to be very salty (that's all there was to it). Also tried the Boudin balls, very disappointed because it just tasted burnt. So I didn't get the chance to taste anything from it. Side note: Mandatory tipping system when spending more money even if food is to-go. We spent over $100 and mandatory tipping was 20%.

Came to Parasols for a classic NOLA feast and a drink. This casual , cool joint encompasses everything that is great about New Orleans . Great vibe , friendly people and amazing food. I got the spicy shrimp Po boy by recommendation of Kyle the great bartender . This place is a must visit !! Truly great on all levels !!

EVERYONE -- and I mean everyone -- says this is THE place for a po' boy. Well... maybe we hit it on an off day, because we left feeling seriously disappointed. We started at the bar with a couple of their "frozen" cocktails -- except they were more like room temperature slushies. The Orange Julius one tasted fine, but it was basically juice with a side of sadness. If you're gonna sell me a frozen cocktail, make it frozen! That said, the bartender was sweet, so points for that. For the food, you order from the back of the bar -- I got the debris po' boy, hubbs got the muffuletta, and we both got excited about the "Irish Sunday" potato salad with gravy (because honestly, potato salad + gravy = genius). About 10 minutes later, they called our name... only to tell us they were out of the Irish Sunday. So, fried pickles it was. Then the food came, and oh boy. The bread was just off. The muffuletta had a top crust that could've cracked a tooth, but the bottom was ice cold and tasted like day-old bread from the bargain bin. My debris po' boy was a mess -- literally and figuratively. The bread fell apart, there was barely any meat, and the fries inside (because, of course, fries in a sandwich) were either rock hard or cold. Perfect! (not!) I couldn't even finish half of it, and the pickles were fine -- but not exactly a worthy replacement for the mythical Irish Sunday. Final thoughts? Either we caught them on a bad day, or the hype machine has some explaining to do. I wanted to love it -- but this po' boy left me feelin' po'.

This was like the driest shrimp poboy fully dressed I've ever had. Somehow the top half of the sandwich was like stale. I threw the bread away and ate the shrimp by itself which was okay. The boudin balls came with marinara which was super weird and not good. The wait was also 45 minutes after ordering before the lunch rush. This is a no.

They were in February. They have been there forever so I'm not sure why they wouldn't be. A look at their Facebook page shows they are still active as of yesterday 05/07/18

I figured: a new day, a new dawn, a new listing. If that is fine and dandy with the powers that be I will continue with my review. Arriba arriba!! I love what they have done with the place! On the Rocks now has two rooms! The main bar area and the DJ room. The pool tables have been moved to make way for dancing! They play Latin music here now, as well as typical top 40. There are always people salsa dancing (I wish I could) and I do my own version of dancing which is basically strutting around the dance floor to (kind of) the beat. Look, I can't dance that well, okay? I have yet to name my style of dancing but it WILL take the world by storm one of these days. White girl strut (trademark pending!)? I don't know. I'm working on it. The space next to the dance floor has been raised onto a platform that is now complete with a sofa for relaxing and hanging out. There is also a sitting area in the DJ room if you want to be closer to the music. Overall the bar is clean and the people are super nice and friendly. The Bud Light limes (Westbank gonna Westbank) have been replaced by Modelo, which is fine by me. Definitely one of the better Westbank hangouts, so be sure to drop in and check it out.

Upon walking up I was advised that I would have to be frisked prior to entry. This is normally a sign telling me to leave immediately, but I decided to give it a shot. As far as friskings go (I've been frisked a lot), this was rather uneventful. He could have done a better job if he was genuinely searching for weapons, but I guess it was more of a deterrent than anything else. Once inside I learned that this was not a place for me. The bar is separated into two different areas. One room contained the DJ, pool tables and an incredibly disturbing laser light show. It reminded me of the laser shows I used to attend in New Orleans East, but with much different music. The DJ didn't seem to speak English so requesting that he play "Marrero" by MC Thick was somewhat pointless. The DJ also made frequent use of some sort of synthetic horn noise that was horrendous. The second room is where the dance floor, bar and odd stage area were. The dance floor was huge. If one wanted to dance to the beat, there was plenty of room. The bar wasn't bad and there were a couple of cocktail waitresses ensuring you got the beer you wanted. The stage area was odd. There were a couple of couches, but there was also some sort of pole as well. While everyone I encountered was friendly, communication was difficult. The cocktail waitresses spoke limited English and most of the customers were conversing in Spanish. Would I go back to On the Rocks? Maybe, but there are many other WB bars I would rather visit.

Well, I am here to tell you, it isn't any of those things. The Naughty Knight is a bar for drinkers. It is open 24 hours, so regardless of when you need a beer, they'll be open. I ended up here after a yelp event. I was super excited to try it after always wondering what it was like. After all that anticipation, it didn't live up to the hype in my mind. Inside there is a bar, pool tables and a internet connected jukebox. The jukebox was great as I was able to listen and dance to Frank Sinatra, and then rap to BG. Imagine how impressed my friends were. Beer was very cheap and plentiful. They do sell frozen pizzas for $5, but I do not recommend you try one. It looked like the frozen pizzas at the dollar store and the bartender confirmed that is what they were. I came back a second time, but didn't stay. the vibe seemed different. I am sure I will end up here again though, as WB bars are good spots to close out a night. If you're looking for a place to drink at all hours of the day or night, give the Naughty Knight a try.
