I've been to Parasol's several times, and I would describe it is a nice neighborhood bar, with a relaxed vibe. My most recent visit was Tuesday, August 1st 2023; when my wife and I stopped in for lunch. The place wasn't packed, but there was definitely a steady flow of customers. The main television was blasting old concert clips from the 60's and 70's (think Doors and other similar bands). My wife ordered a Roast Beef Po' Boy and I ordered the Fried Shimp Po' Boy. Both sandwiches were dressed and had good flavor. They may have toasted the sandwiches a bit too long because the crust on both was very hard. I will probably ask them not to toast it next time. Service is always friendly. On an interesting side-note, the men's room door might be the smallest door I've ever walked through! Don't take my word for it go check it out yourself! read more

Parosol's is a true neighborhood bar and eatery located away from the main tourist streets. A small bar is located at the front of an old house. The small eatery is located at the back. Mrs. ordered the 10 inch roast beef poboy and I went with the 10 inch Firecracker shrimp poboy. Both poboys were fully dressed. It took a little while because both poboys were made fresh. The roast beef poboy was full of nicely seasoned beef and it was not overwhelmed by the excellent tasting gravy. The Firecracker shrimp poboy was probably the best tasting poboy we had in a long time. There were plenty of small shrimps. The seasoning of the shrimp breading was so tasty and not greasy. What took the shrimp poboy over the top was the Louisiana hot sauce that was splashed into the poboy. It was the first time we had shrimp poboy with hot sauce. I don't know if the hot sauce was house made or from a commercial bottle. But that combination was fire. From now on, I want my shrimp and catfish poboy with splashes of hot sauce. The French bread was very good. The crust was crust and the interior was soft. Counter service was very friendly. This bar and eatery definitely rated an return visit. read more

Downgrading because every time I come here now, something is wrong with my order. I am pretty nice and don't go crazy when something goes wrong, but maybe I should speak up more when my wait is over 30 minutes. The last time I came here, my friends and I ordered on (2) tickets and they lost BOTH of them, back to back. The wait was 45 mins during MG, no biggie. They served a group of 20 frat boys before and didn't have any problems with their food. We waited over an hour for nothing, then was told the kitchen lost our tickets. Luckily, the cashier was able to help us get our food back probably after another 30 minutes with whatever else we wanted to order (should've ordered 10 more Poboys) The time before that, we had a similar experience, we waited a very long time, didn't say anything because we thought it would be coming, turns out some other patron was holding our order, trying to steal it/or there was a mix-up. *There should definitely be a little more accountability and structure when it comes to taking orders and making sure it goes to the right person.* Consistency is not always great either. The fire cracker po-boys are good, but I think I'm going to stop going here so much. We've had REALLY good po-boys and really mid ones. It varies so wildly and it's not crazy for me to have high expectations. Sometimes the bread is hard, sometimes there are like 2 shrimp in there. It's not that crazy for me to have high expectations for a really good local place like this. I hope this changes! read more

Okay let's get one thing out of the way. Parking here sucks. It's on the corner and close to a residential neighborhood. But please don't let this keep you from coming here and trying it. Walked in and a super sweet gal named Carla took my order. She recommended either the firecracker or the beef sandwich. I wanted the broiled beef sandwich so here we go! Y'all this thing is delicious. And messy. You need a girl and knife to properly tackle it. But sadly the little to go plastic knife and fork wasn't able to conquer it. So I ate it deconstructed. No sweat. I improvised and overcame. Had fries on the side which were run of the mill fries but had a nice seasoning on them. The gravy is salty. Very very salty. But also very very good. Take a water pill if you need it before hand, because you'll eat the whole dang sandwich. Carla stopped me and asked how I liked it and gave my feedback and then said "next time you need the hot muffalata" so, when I'm here in Feb guess what I'm getting. You guessed it. That. This place was a stand out on our trip to New Orleans. We did a bike tour of the garden district and our guide told us to check it out and we're so glad we did. Had a real neighborhood vibe, and it was such a amazing and needed break from the crowds in the French quarter. We were told the Po boy was a must, and it is! We got the beef Po boy and it was possibly our favorite thing from the weekend. And the potato salad was amazing! Nothing like a cold beer on tap. Was a short walk from st Charles ave where we were staying & was by far the best po'boy I've had in NOLA throughout 5 trips over the last few years. Very local & casual feel. Most of the folks ate on the sidewalk out front like we did. I got the Irish potato salad (different & very good potato salad with gravy on it) & the firecracker shrimp po'boy which was big fried shrimp in Buffalo sauce. I finally got the chance to visit last weekend and had the Half Shrimp/Half Oyster PoBoy. Toasted flakey bread was filled with fresh tender shrimp with crisp breading, juicy briny oysters with crisp breading, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, tangy pickles and creamy mayo. You go to the window and order and they call your name when the food is ready. The menu was wonderful and I would want to try everything! But, I couldn't resist the oyster BLT. The sandwich was stuffed with delicately breaded fried oysters, served on toasted white bread with bacon lettuce and tomato. My BF got the spicy shrimp po' boy. It was a huge sandwich and he gave me a bite. So good! We shared a large basket of onion rings that came with a yellow sauce. Loved it! There is plenty of outdoor seating. The restaurant gives off the appearance of a biker bar, with patrons sitting on stools and bars, with only a handful of people helping you with your order. I lived in the south, I am immune to such charms. Scouring the menu, and being my own Homer Simpson, I ordered the roast beef po boy. Which size? Well, I got the large. The food arrives 15 minutes later and it is a sight to behold. The sandwich is everything authentic about a po boy. Authentic French bread (crunchy outside chewy inside), with roast beef and everything spilling out in between bites. My server said I would need napkins, and boy did I ever. It is an absolutely delicious, but messy endeavor to finish one of these. I can still taste that mouth watering roast beef and gravy. It is that memorable. I rarely finish all my food but this was definetly worth it. Drinks- Drinks are at a reasonable price too. We tried the Irish Coffee and Irish Mule. Plenty of alcohol and only $6 each! My friend and I ended up splitting the large fire shrimp po boy. The bread was soft and the shrimp had so much flavor! Half of the sandwich was enough to fill me up, and I now understand the hype! While the food was good, the service is incredibly slow. We waited for 2 hours for our food. You walk up to a counter, order, and then wait to pick up food when it is ready. This place had mostly great reviews and many recommended the fire shrimp or roast beef Po Boy. We ended up splitting the large fire shrimp Po Boy. It was good and we were definitely satisfied splitting one. I think it could have used about 5 more shrimp through. The bread was perfect though, one of the most important parts of this sandwich. Pacing ourselves, splitting on provided the right portion. Service is no existent. Not that type of place, walk up, order get food when it's ready. That is it. Paid $15.50 for a 10 inch shrimp poo boy and seemed like there was less than 10 shrimp on the sandwich. The roast beef sandwich had just a couple slices of roast beef. Flavor on both sandwich's were good and the bread and toppings were fresh but definitely need more meat/seafood on the sandwiches for the price paid. Love the outdoor seating! what a shame how this neighborhood dive have gone down while keeping prices up. Suggested gratuities when you essentially serve yourself, MANDATORY 15% gratuity if your order comes to more than $80, and 20% if over $100 is bizarre. They are encouraging and rewarding those that spend less???? plus adding credit cars fees?? for a place that has no waiters??? Food was just ok, well, except for the quite burned onion rings.
