I had a great experience here for my friend's birthday dinner. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and brought to my party's table. The ambiance was nice, small space but beautifully decorated. I went with a large group so we decided to get a variety of appetizers: seafood dumpling, roasted cauliflower, ceviche, chargrilled mussels, and grilled octopus. All were good but the chargrilled mussels and the ceviche were my top picks. For my cocktail I had the lavender Negroni, this was a strong drink but very good if you like Negroni. I liked it so much I had to order another one. We decided to try taste the rainbow, which is a 1/2 oz taste of 10 Negronis. I highly recommend this if you like Negronis. For my entree I had the swordfish schnitzel, which was delicious. For dessert I had the lemon cheesecake, it was perfection. I would definitely come back to this place, my only complaint was that the service was slow, our wait staff were very nice but we had to tell them multiple times we were ready to place our order. We came for their happy hour and sat outside on their patio. Despite it being November, it was considered their Summer Happy Hour which is available daily from 4 pm to 6 pm. This is what our party of four ordered - oysters and all the house snacks: * Whipped Feta HH $10 - Toasted sourdough was quite enjoyable with the hot honey topped whipped feta. I may need to get more whipped feta in my life. * Marinated Olives HH $5 - Yummy collection of olives. * G & T Mussels $10 - Mussels were nicely cooked and the fried saltines a nice touch! Yum! * Ishmael Fries HH $5 - Crispy and light with an enjoyable aioli. * Shucker's Dozen Oysters HH $24 - We got two dozen of these. They came with mignonette, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and something else. So fresh! Not only was the food great, but the service was wonderful as well. Despite being outside, we never felt neglected and our server along with the rest of the staff were on it. At one point, our waiter had to go to the back to help shuck oysters to help with the demand. There was no lapse of service as the staff stepped up to support his absence. We went here for our anniversary. I asked when i made the reservation if they could put a candle or something in our dessert because it was our anniversary. They did nothing. We started with the muscles appetizer which was outstanding. We then split the scallops and the fish of the day. They were just okay. We finished with the highly recommended lemon dessert. Friends had raved about it. It was okay. My lemon ice box pie that i make at home is far better. The service was great. We found it to be somewhat pricey and we eat out enough to know the pricing of things. The restaurant was beautiful. We will probably skip going here again. Came with my friends for Negroni flights. I ordered a mezcal drink and a strawberry shortcake flip as a dessert drink. Strawberry flavor was pretty mild. More citrus forward. Dreamsicle type drink. Pigeon and Whale is a must visit when you are in NOLA! Street parking is limited but there's a lot at the end of the strip. We sat at the bar and struggled to not order everything we saw. It all looked so good. Chargrilled mussels and ceviche appetizers, squid ink pasta and salmon entrees and the lemon sorbet, IN THE SHAPE OF LEMONS for dessert. We love coming to this restaurant, it is always crowded. You need a reservations, luckily, we got an 830 reservations on a Saturday night. Fresh seafood from 6+ varieties of fresh oysters, fresh crab, scallops, fish, Dijour, shrimp, they also have various entrées from fresh catch of the day, fillet or New York strip, but their specialty is fresh seafood. We got a round of a dozen oysters which refresh and delicious. They shook it right in front of you in the bar which where we were seated, bartenders are so friendly and helpful, and so are at the servers. Clam chowder is over the top delicious, salads friend had the crab salad with the mango dressing, which she was delighted and enjoyed, other friend had the red fish which he said was over the top. My oysters were delicious and fresh, also got the steamed clams in a delicious Kuri broth and bread. husband had the New York strip, which was a large portion which he only ate half. If you're looking for great cocktails and standout desserts, this is definitely the place. Their happy hour offers excellent drink specials, and the cocktails we tried were very well done. The happy hour appetizers were just okay in my opinion....somewhat bland and lacking depth of flavor. We didn't try any entrées on this visit and opted for dessert instead, which turned out to be the highlight. The lemon cheesecake was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented and truly a work of art. We tried their salmon roe devil eggs special which was phenomenal. The bread service and clams were also fantastic! Where the meal fell short was the entrees. We ordered the octopus and the shrimp squid ink pasta. The squid ink pasta was amazing but the octopus was so tough and chewy that it was not delightful at all. Great happy hour with $9 Negronis. We sampled 4 of the 10 varieties; they were all delicious. The bar variies the gin, varies or substitutes for the sweet vermouth, and varies or substitutes for the Campari to creaste the best lineup of Negronis ever. The happy hour French 75 (also $9) was perfect. A raw oyster sampler was good, as were the French fries. I plan to sample more of the negronis next time. read more

The restaurant is the epitome of the new wave of aesthetically pleasing Instagram able restaurants coming out. I had seen so many great reviews on this restaurant and had to check out. We sat out on their covered and heated porch area. You have to make a reservation as this place is on the smaller side. We sat and were greeted by the fullest of personality waiter. He was cracking us the whole time. I wish I could remember his name, but he worked on November Friday night. We ordered the Swordfish Schnitzel. I absolutely loved the salty and fresh lemon flavors in the salad like layer the swordfish sat on. It tasted like salty capors and fish, it just worked, all the flavors really worked together. And what an interesting way to cook swordfish, to schnitzel it! It was all so creative. But not as creative as the desserts. My gosh, it was like something out of one of those baking competition shows. Just detailed and delicious. We ordered both the lemon dessert and the chocolate bubble bath one. Lemon was the best and I am still dreaming out its months later. The chocolate bubble bath was very good too. Although we did not sit inside, we could see the inside and I loved the wooden panels around the breathtaking bar. It looks like it resembled ribs of a ship or a whale. Next, I have to try The Husky. What a wonderful experience. Had reservations for 5 PM on a Saturday. We were 20 minutes early but were immediately brought to a table. How lucky were we to find out that it was happy hour! My friend and I got a couple of Sazerac's that were perfect. We started with the bread service of warm crusty sourdough and the sublime butter. We also got a few raw oysters and ceviche, divine. The eggplant donuts were crazy delicious. The swordfish schnitzel was flavorful and well prepared, octopus and squid with mushrooms. Dessert was a work of art. I'm going to go ahead and given this spot 5 stars for maintaining excellent service during MG! My visiting friends decided they were starving on Lundi Gras after the parades were done. I knew something on Freret had to be open (despite many spaces not actually listing their carnival hours). And we ended up at Pigeon and Whale which was great. I wasn't as starving as my friends so I just had the chilled shrimp (and y'know the bread service) which was a perfect night cap after another evening of parades. My friends had the raw oysters and other things and they were very happy. The cocktails were great. My friends got the "Tell Me I'm Pretty" and our server made sure to do that everytime he brought them. And I had the "Boulevardier of Broken Dreams" which again was great. Since this is the 3rd spot in this newer build, it was interesting to see how they have made the space their own. I've been here twice this month and both times has been a fabulous experience. For one thing the kitchen is open until 10 PM and that is a wonderful thing for our town that no longer has good food for late night dining. Second of all their happy hour is from 4 PM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and it is outstanding. My first server for the late night was a gentleman named James and he was fabulous. He didn't try to oversell me and he was charming and the food was spectacular. My rosé was delicious. And the carrot cake with the brown butter icing was sublime then I went back for a happy hour a week later and the host, Fern, squeezed us in and went above and beyond. We had an incredible server that afternoon as well, but I forgot his name. They kept the water refilled and the food was flowing and tasty. The best deal is that it doesn't oysters is $24 and they're served on ice and they were delicious! The whipped feta with the toasted baguette slices was delicious and the mussels were quite tasty as well, and it was so affordable for happy hour!!!! My friend who also has a shellfish allergy spoke highly of this place, so when I got a call from another friend to try it for Coolinary, I happily joined her. Came here tonight for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Definitely don't show up on a Saturday night without a reservation. I got lucky and was able to get a seat at the bar after a 20-30 minute wait. The bartender was busy but attentive and recommended the perfect drink, the Loose Lips, which was a delicious rum based drink. I opted for the Coolinary and thoroughly enjoyed each course! I had the ceviche which featured Mahi tonight and it was very fresh. The second course was the star of the night, the lobster roll. I dont know if I'll be able to go back and try other entrees because the lobster roll was delicious. Sweet, buttery lobster meat in a warm buttery roll. The crispy fries were the perfect accompaniment. I only ate half of the roll because I knew I had dessert coming and Im glad I saved room. I had the carrot cake and it was better than expected. Our table also got an order of the fries, which are a must try here. Everything was delicious. I was only upset about the serving sizes- we were all still hungry after the meal. I understand this type of restaurant values quality over quantity, so I'm not expecting a bigger serving necessarily for the same price. But a heads up from the server would've been ideal. My dad and his wife ordered the grilled octopus and it was more like an appetizer than an entree. We would've ordered more had we known, but had to get up early for our flight the next day so left it at that. My husband and I had an early reservation, so we were able to take advantage of the oyster happy hour special. Lots of good things on the happy hour cocktail menu too. Our server was fantastic. From beginning to end she was helpful, attentive and friendly. Also, the restaurant is very dedicated to the maritime theme. An octopus here, portholes there - the atmosphere they've created is impressive and the place is lovely. Now for the food: We had a dozen mixed oysters and all were salty, fresh free of shells and delicious. We added 2 sh&t in the shell oysters and they were really good. Next we had the ceviche, and it was definitely an item I'd order again. We had the octopus appetizer and although the octopus had great flavor, it was a little too spicy for me. If you like a little heat, please don't be dissuaded by me. Im a wimp. The potatoes were a bit of a throwaway, but isn't the octopus the star of the dish anyway? The mahi mahi main was over the top delicious. Perfectly seared medium rare, served with freshly made pasta and a creamy, rich sauce - I am still thinking about it this morning. So good!
