Great restaurant, clean all rooms, private parking, easy handicap accessible, friendly servers, and beautiful interior makes for relaxed meals! We ordered the lunch meals because we was late for lunch, but too early for supper! Waitress was Buick to take drinks and menu orders! We got our usual orders only the lunch size versions! I like to sprinkle on hot pepper seeds for the extra zip it needed! The place was about half full! Not as busy as on weekends and some evenings! The stain glass windows with old country scenes and the light color interior woods and high ceilings provide a refreshing appearance from the average Restaurants appearances! The pasta food was delicious, hot, the breadsticks were good (a bit too light on butter)! I prefer oil and black pepper dip for the bread! I would rather drive 30+ miles out of the way to go to the Barberton's Parasson Restaurant! The customers ages range across from teenagers to Seniors! So it draws a wide audience of followers! We come often even before we got u Into Yelp! We recommend this restaurant and encourage others to see for themselves! Even though this is my first Yelp check-in here we have been coming to Parasson's for many, many years. Unfortunately, this was not a stellar visit. We both ordered from the lunch combo menu. A anti-pasta side salad and baked chicken Alfredo. The salad was fresh and tasty as usual except that we ordered the House creamy Italian dressing and were very surprised at how runny it was. Usually similar consistency to ranch dressing. Then I had to ask for garlic bread! Usually provided promptly with your salad. Then the garlic bread was over toasted to the point of having burned edges and crunchy where it is usually soft! The lunch size Alfredo is rather small but exactly like the full size portion. With the side salad and bread it's more than enough for me! Although slightly disappointed with this visit I'll certainly be back to give them another try. Just an off day. read more

This is not bad, as you know that the food they serve is only what they serve..........Meaning places these days have huge menus, how can the food be good, when you have to keep all of it fresh and ready to go? All in all, for the money, it is a little above average. 3.5 stars. Pretty decent wedding soup. Pretty decent salads. Pretty decent Chicken Parmesan. Parasson's is my ultimate comfort place. I know deep down that it's not a great representation of Italian American food, but it's the place that introduced me to Italian food when I was a kid. It seemed like, growing up, we only went to Parasson's or The Depot when we went out to eat. Most of my positive early food memories are of gouging my gut full of lasagna, fries, and garlic bread. Some things never change! My wife and I just have to go to Parasson's a few times a year. Can't not go. Last night, we left the house to get Mexican food, and wound up at Parasson's instead. It's staples are mainly unchanged. The fries are different, the bread is slightly different, but the regular menu items taste the same as when I got them 30 + years ago. I got the baked lasagna, my wife the baked chicken parm. The food came out, and it was perfectly, well, solid? Good? Filling? Yeah, all those things. Again, I'm not pretending this is a true, authentic Italian meal. You very well may get better meals at Papa Joe's, D'agnese's, Aldo's, anywhere in little Italy. But sometimes you just need a reminder of simpler times. A memory of laughing and joking as a family, of sharing the table with people who are no longer with us, and familiar tastes. I was there tonight and placed an order to go. When I got there they told me they were out of meatballs! How can an Italian restaurant be out of meatballs? Then I ordered pasta with garlic butter and they forgot to put the garlic butter on, so I got a bowl of noodles!! Parasson's is a typical budget-Italian restaurant. Started in 1960, the mom and pop has grown to 3-4 places in the akron area and this was my first visit. The atmosphere is pretty casual. Frank Sinatra played in the background. Although it was dead, our server was really good and refilled our drinks often. There's also a few domestic bottles of beer if you're interested. On the menu's cover, was a statement written by the founder stating their willingness to accomodate you, the customer, including that there's no automatic gratuity for large parties, you can always have separate checks, and offer substitutions. Very cool. The food itself, if you have tempered expectations, is ok. There's sub sandwiches, pastas, lasagnas, nothing complicated. Filled with ricotta cheese, the mushroom ravioli were topped mushrooms [they were canned, but there were plenty of them] were good. However, I wasn't a fan of the red sauce at all, it was way too salty for me and tasted similar to the sauce that seems to be at buffets and my college cafeteria. For 6 adults and 2 kids, it was less than $70 and the rest of the family [who have simpler tastes] were very satisfied. Parasson's is priced well and offers good, no frills, Italian. read more

Parasson's has always been one of my favorite places. Ok, my favorite place. I get into town from New York, put down my luggage, and head there for lunch or dinner. The food is sensational -- not your Italian grandma's traditional, authentic flavor, and not high-end or gourmet. But as a saucy, cheesy treat that doesn't cost a fortune, you can't do better anywhere in the area. It's not expensive (though in recent years they've gotten pretty stingy, compared to how they used to be), and the staff is generally young, energetic, friendly, and fun. The Barberton location has a cool vaulted ceiling and stained glass, but for the coolest decor, head to the Waterloo Road location -- vintage NYC street signs, photos of old Akron, old farming and dining artifacts, mafia paintings, and a giant safe... it's bizarre, and really cool. read more

We hadn't been here in years. Not because it wasn't good...because it had the best food locally...but because of our schedules. After Christmas shopping...we were starving and ready for some good Italian food. It was a sad experience. Salad dressings include Italian...creamy Italian and ranch. Salad wasn't cut up. Large pieces of lettuce. The garlic bread was a bun that tasted like buckles bread. The sauce for spaghetti tasted like ...I'm not sure...it tasted overcooked but not Italian. As a whole...we agreed it had a cardboard flavor. The wine was good. The coffee was good. The pumpkin praline was yummy. The service was very good....notba complaint at all in how well we were taken care of. The restaurant was clean and nice music in background. Parasson's is a staple of our family. I've been going there since I was a child and have never had problems there. Service and food is always great and the restaurant is a unique building that is perfect for dining in. My favorite dish is the baked cheese ravioli and I get it every time I go there. I think last year or before they reduced their portion sizes and changed their dishes and menu but if you go there it will still fill you up. One of the few places around where you can order off-menu and if they have the ingredients they will make it for you. And they never charge gratuity for large parties (which I think is a great idea because I typically tip 20% and big parties at other restaurants usually add 18% to the bill for large parties, so they lose out when I come to eat). If you go there it won't disappoint. I've also eaten at their other locations and from what I can tell the quality is standard across all places. read more

I was visiting my grandparents last week and they wanted to take me to this restaurant. A year and a half ago when I was in town, we tried to go there around 6-7 pm and it was packed! So we went super early this time around. Food was delicious---I love the salads with mozzarella cheese and olives. I much preferred the regular italian dressing to the house creamy italian dressing, and the garlic bread was also yummy. I had no idea what to order so the waitress recommended the baked rigatoni with grilled chicken and it was delish!!! I would get that again, but all our meals were good. They were very filling and made for a good lunch the next day. The staff were very friendly, the manager came over and visited with us. Really nice visit. read more

This place used to be awesome about 10 years ago. Now everything is just prefab frozen, nothing fresh. They used to make the best garlic bread, but unfortunately it's been replaced with Texas Toast brand garlic bread. Their pastas, salads and pizzas all used to be great as well. Stopped here last night on my way home from work to pick up a to-go order. The employees were very friendly and the food was hot and ready when I arrived. I've eaten in this restaurant and it's no big woo. Just a good family restaurant. Everything on their menu is pretty good except for the alfredo. I'm not sure but it tastes like it's from a can. My favorite is their antipasta salad with ranch dressing. It's definitely a meal in itself. I always get the same dinner because it's just delicious. I have been going to Parasson's for many years usually for carry-out. My favorite is the deluxe lasagna which is full of cheese and beef and comes with giant meatballs , mushrooms and sausages. It also has a side of garlic toast. We also order the party trays of lasagna and spaghetti for office functions. The quality and quantity is always good and the prices are reasonable. Each location is beautiful inside and a pleasant place to take a guest for lunch or dinner. The place is clean and so is the kitchen. I know because I am an inspector and have had occasion to tour each location. read more

I visited this restaurant the other day for a carryout order and was very disappointed in the customer service by a young red haired girl (didn't get her name). Common courtesy is when someone hands you their hard earned money it is very impolite to drop their change on the counter and push it forward in an effort to avoid touching. When it was addressed the young girl still did not hand me the change, she just pushed the money forward again, giggles with a slight shrugged, and walked away. Its safe to say that I will not return be returning again because the service made me feel as if I was not a valued customer and I wasn't worth common courtesy. I work very hard for my money to spend it at a place that does not appreciate it. The pizza was basic.The flavor minimal- nothing to write home about. read more

Visited for dinner tonight with a party of 13! They accomodated us quickly. Our waitress was excellent, and our food came out piping hot and as promised. Everyone loved the garlic bread and ate their fill of the meals, taking home enough leftovers to eat again. The kids meals came with sundaes that put a smile on all the kids faces! If I could do 0 I would. Been here a few times, it was OK, decided to try it again. Ordered the chicken each time but this time it was pink. Ok I get it chicken can be pink so much so the waiter said they have a sheet cause customers complained about pink chicken. I took two bites and couldn't do it. It smelled funny, certain parts were pink some a weird dark color. I even asked if it maybe was rib meat to ease my mind. He clearly knew I wasn't going to eat it, so he said, "I take it you're done? No box?" And took it. I didn't eat it, he knew I wasn't happy, and didn't offer to take it off our bill. From a server point of view I never would have done that. Flash forward 15 minutes into ride home and guess who had some food come back up? Poor service and questionable food. If you have to have a sheet to defend why your meat is pink after you cook it and it's different colors throughout the chicken that says something. I always believe the customer is right but I guess here we should all eat pink chicken. read more

Always great service! In a wonderful and attentive staff they are not lacking. HOWEVER. I came to this restaurant all the time when i was younger, and there has been a palpable shift in the food. Everything looks and tastes like frozen food. I ordered the meatball sub for lunch, and for 8 dollars i got a sub with 4 small meatballs, a sauce that tasted like straight tomato paste, and about 6 french fries. (I was so sad to see the waitress bring such a pathetic plate of fries with my sandwich!) The only way i would recommend this restaurant to a friend is if i were to find a way to travel back to the 1990's when their food was still good. read more
