If the idea of sweet beans scare you, skip it. It's actually not that sweet, which might be the problem for newcomers, but I grew up on it and ate one for breakfast every day. Chestnut bread The bread is fluffy and has a buttery texture without the heavy taste of butter (how is this possible? I don't know.. magic). Then, you have roasted chestnuts scattered throughout the bread and spread on top with sweet crumbles that just make the whole bread eating experiene a satisfying one. I eat it alone as a breakfast, snack or dessert, but it would be a great appetizer to a meal for others. Soboro bread aka Peanut Crumb bun Again, the base is the fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth bread but with peanut flavored crumbles on top. There is nothing like it! It pairs deliciously well with coffee. Skip: Green tea/red bean filled croissant The croissant was very bland and dry. The fillings were good, but didn't match with the croissant taste. It would have been better in the fluffy bun. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff! With so many selections, how could one go wrong? There are good stuff and okay stuff at this cafe and here is my take on it. Some of our favorites here were premium curry croquette, the sandwich(must toast) , I personally love croissants and the waffle and ice cream is really good too. I also like to lighting and atmosphere, pretty enjoyable. Some of the items are 'okay' because there is nothing really special that pops in your mind when you take a bite. The green tea shaved ice or some of the sweet drinks were too sweet for my tastes. The roll cakes and Castella cakes were both kind of tough. Strange thing is every time I go inside, I am mesmerized by the colorful displays and I am forced to buy some pastries. That being said, it's good place to enjoy some carbs with friends. read more

YESSS now open in Brooklyn!! Such awesome cakessssss!! My go to for some excellent birthday cakes. I have had the blueberry chiffon and the chocolate strawberry cakes both of which are very very light, fluffy, and not too sweet. I would recommend the chocolate strawberry over the blueberry .... I think.... Or I might just be elated from it right now... I remember the blueberry one being good too. Ugh. Just ini mini miny moe it. Honestly, I don't think any of them will disappoint! A new and spacious Paris Baguette shop that opened last week! This one is pretty neat as it has 2 floors and like other stores of the chain, a modern and clean decor. All of their desserts and baked goods are presented with good lighting making them look fresh and yummy. I haven't had a chance to buy any of them yet as I was thirsty and went for their Green Tea Classic [non-alcoholic] Mojito, which was sweet and refreshing! P.S. They sell really cute "I Love You" and "Happy Birthday" candles for $2! read more

I got my favorite : Almond Pastry. Pairs beautifully with my Almond Milk Chai Tea, although Paste in the center could use more almond flavor. I also got a few baguettes, very fresh and authentic. Definitely getting my baguettes here from now on. The service is pretty good, they opened nearly a month ago so it's apparent that the staff is still catching up with the flow of the Bakery, (it's always exciting to feel like one of the first customers at a new location). A great place to hang out, window watch, or get some work done. I have yet to try their pastries which I think they most known for. I usually get a salad or a sandwich which cost a bit around $5 to $8+, a bit pricy but it's good and if not it'll leave you full and satisfied at the end. Their puff pastry desserts are devine! Not too sweet, and perfectly flaky. I especially enjoy their chocolate babka. It's lighter and more airy than the usual babka. Have you tasted heaven before? I did when I tried PB's vanilla flavor pudding. It's so smooth, so tasty, and sooooo satisfying. Never had anything this light and dreamy before. When you get to the bottom, get a scoop of the caramel sugar with the hint of almond... There is the heaven ... I also tried other flavors but vanilla is my all time favorite. I'm also glad there is no PB in my neighborhood, otherwise I will gain so much weight... It is just how good the vanilla pudding is!! read more

I frequent this location, as well as the one on Amsterdam Ave. I am a fan of the pre-packed salads and the iced coffee. As probably the one person in the world that hates Starbucks coffee, I'm always happy when there's a PB nearby instead. PB coffee is still mass market coffee, but it is smoother and less bitter than Starbucks, while still being strong. As for the dazzling display of pastries at these locations. Hmmm. I sampled a cronut-type of thing with peach crème pat. It was pretty alright, but I didn't want something so heavy. I purchased a walnut bread 'twist', which had this gross filling that was similar to 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter', but sweet. That immediately got tossed in the trash after one bite. But I still am a fan of the coffee and the salads. read more

This eatery is a definite step up from Pret A Manager. This location has first and second one level seating with a bathroom downstairs (I believe you need a code for it). It's a self-service which allows you get your own food items and you purchase them at the cashier. You can also purchase coffees, teas and smoothies at the cashier as well. I bought a turkey/avocado creation with dark green lettuce and tomato. It was really good and so fresh. I am not a fan of getting pre-made food items but it looked really good inside the package. Also, for the month of September, you can purchase $1 brewed coffee. That was delicious too. And their orange juice taste like real oranges, not the laboratory-made Tropicana. Their prices are pretty steep so you may feel played but it's kinda worth it. read more

Was very surprised that the pricing was reasonable given the recent changes to downtown Brooklyn! The croissant is my favorite. So rich. So delicate. No egg! Yum. They have a buy 1 pastry and get the other pastry 1/2 off special currently. After eating their croissant, I never want another Starbucks croissant again, lol. This location has a lovely display of their goods and is clean and inviting. They also offer vegan options for those who can't eat dairy. There is a selection of smoothies, but I recommend the mango-guava summer drink: very tasty, but slightly sugary. The coffee prices are also reasonable when compared to other places in the neighborhood. I don't drink coffee though, so someone else will have to let you know. read more

I was completely blown away when I found out this place was going to be a Paris Baguette because it's an unexpected place to have a Korean Bakery. But Asian milk toast is the only sandwich bread I will eat and the ones they sell at Paris Baguette are deeelicous. Plus, have you TRIED the pumpkin one? Pretty stellar. I saw the signs advertising their imminent arrival during construction and I had almost forgotten about them until the smell of baking bread wafted into my nostrils one day. I hadn't even rounded the corner to make sure they were open at that point. I smelled it, literally made many jumps of joy, then stood there taking in the smell of bread with a huge grin on my face. Like most Paris Baguettes, it's just fun to go in and stare at their pastries and beautiful cakes. This location in particular is beautifully set up, spacious, and has upstairs seating. I love Japanese bakeries. I love it even more when there's one within walking distance from my apartment! I've been more times than I care to admit and here are a few of my favorites: - Green tea cake with cream: Delicate, fluffy, creamy heaven. - Castela cake: Oh my. So light and sweet. - Banana custard: Sort of like a Tokyo Banana (sort of). Excellent custard. - Canele: Perfectly burnt on top and gooey in the middle. My other half always gets the chocolate cake and it's his go-to. I, on the other hand, pick new items to try whenever we stop by. Their service is excellent and I haven't had a bad dessert (yet). Its literally... french pastries done from an asian perspective. What does that mean? EVERYTHING IS FLUFFY (even multigrain bread thats supposed to be grainy and a bit tough, is fluffy as hell.. the baguettes are not super crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside, they're crunchy on the outside and fluffy as hell on the inside.. and I LOVE IT). It also means that the desserts are not too sweet. because asians dont like overly sweet sugar-infested stuff. It seems like this paris baguette focuses more on its pre-packaged sandwiches, salads, coffee to cater to the nearby workers and students, but the key pastries are all here and the main cakes are all here too. i used to work near court st in downtown brooklyn and if paris baguette was around then i would have been a regular but today is good enough for a few hot baguettes and a few slices of blueberry yogurt cake. yes its a bit pricey to spend 40 bucks on a cake but overall the sweets , breads , sandwiches , etc , is really not unreasonable priced and the soups which they were out of is perfect on those cold winter days. nice piece of hot bread with a little smear of butter and i am a happy boy. read more

When I saw that Paris Baguette was opening in Downtown Brooklyn I was quite excited because it's not every day you see a Korean or a nice bakery open up here. This Paris Baguette is different from the ones I've been to because it's two floors and the first floor is where all the baked goods, desserts, cakes, restroom, and cashier are located and seating and the second floor has a baking or prep kitchen and comfortable seating areas. Staff is quite friendly unlike the ones in Flushing I've been to. I've tried their almond croissant which is delightful! Not too buttery and it has a nice crunch to it and lightly sweet. I've noticed there are a lot of moms or babysitters that comes here, but there are also students and business-like people that come here to do their work/study. It's a good place to catch up with someone and maybe light studying. Overall, a nice and upscale addition to Downtown Brooklyn that's worth visiting! read more
