I've come to this location and I've never been so disappointed. Today we came to get some food soon as the Pride parade was over. We were so happy there was no line. The two ladies working there were very rude. One was taking out trash bumped into my friend and didn't even say excuse me or sorry. Once we ordered our food I asked to use the restroom because I knew they had one and it was for customers only. The other worker said they didn't have a restroom. After we ate our food I saw someone walking into the restroom. How I wish I never tipped them. The food was good but I'm never coming back here again! Oh once they took garbage out. I recently discovered Paris Baguette. Since I have a sweet tooth, I was excited to try some of the pastries and other sweets they make. On my first visit, I ordered the Raspberry Almond Croissant through the Paris Baguette app. It turned out there was not one available. This was not a great first impression, but I will give the staff credit for allowing me to substitute with another item -- the Dubai Chocolate Tart -- that may have been slightly more expensive. I returned the following week after being sent a birthday reward for a cake slice. I tried selecting the Pumpkin Pie Custard Tart. That was not eligible, so I changed it to the Ganache Cream Cake Slice. Neither of the desserts I tried was bad, but I wasn't wowed by either one. For the prices they are charging, I would expect better. What rubbed me the wrong way during these two visits was a small sign on the counter offering a free sugar mochi donut in exchange for a five-star review. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that businesses do this, but it is super uncool and unethical to solicit positive reviews with bribes. read more

I was choosing the pastry that I wanted to buy, none of the employees got close so I could show what I wanted. How can Paris Baguette hires this kind of employee, so rude, this woman needs to know what customer service means. Have mixed feelings for this place. Based on the reviews some cakes were not so fresh so we were a little nervous getting this cake. Luckily, this was so fresh and so soft! It wasn't overly sweet and it wasn't overly heavy. Do keep in mind that this was 'soft cream' cake so there was ALOT of cream, and not much of the 'cake' forgot to take a picture. Love fruit tarts and pastries and custard cream. They're obviously very pretty and worthy of giving as a little treat to a friend or birthday. The custard is just right, not eggy, very creamy, with a tint of sweetness. The fruits are fresh. However, the pastry part was disappointing. To my surprise, Paris Baguette opened up on market street! I've always loved this bakery, especially their blueberry chiffon cake. I was excited that there would be a place I could get pastries whenever I'm in the office. The entrance to this store is by See's Candy on Sansome street. They have a sign out and their logo sticks out with the navy paint they have. When you walk through the doors, you're immediately greeted by the trays, tongs, parchment paper and two cases of pastries you can grab. There are a few individually wrapped breads and cakes too. They do have larger cases dedicated to small slices of cake or whole cakes for sale. You have to tell an employee to get something for you. They also do have some breakfast items and sandwiches. They don't have everything you expect from a larger store, but they have fan favorites for sure. They also do serve a variety of drinks, such as coffee, tea, frappes, etc. I have to say that this location is SUPER small. It gets crowded very quickly and they only have a few tables in the back for you to enjoy your food. I have to say I feel like the prices here are way higher than other locations. I couldn't believe I spent nearly $42 on the following: -1 chicken pesto sandwich ($13.99) -1 slice of blueberry chiffon cake ($9.29) -1 fruit tart ($6.49) -1 butter cream bread ($4.49) -1 pepperoni pizza flat bread ($7.79) -1 bag ($0.25) + tip as well. I was baffled considering that some locations have slightly lower prices than this. I get possibly being a SF location, they would have to break even on the cost of goods they produce + business expenses. Even then, it felt too expensive for what I was getting. I have to say from what I tried, the chicken pesto sandwich didn't hit the same. There was a differing taste than what I remember and it wasn't toasted as well. I didn't finish this sandwich since I was a bit disappointed. The butter cream bread is something you can skip. It hardly had any cream and the bread felt a bit dry. Everything else I'll have to try tomorrow, but I feel robbed a bit considering I like Paris Baguette. I'll probably come back for a pastry or coffee, but I'll definitely go to other locations to get more bang for my buck. ETA: I got to try the pizza pastry and the fruit pastry today. The pizza pastry (pepperoni one) is better when it's toasted and it's very good. If you have an air fryer, I'd put it in at 400 for a few minutes. Is it worth $8? Probably not. The fruit pastry itself was good as well. The fruit was sweet and the cream itself paired well all together. I do recommend eating this the day of. I was in the area and turned back after passing the window when I saw their croissants on display. Picked up a plain croissant and pineapple custard/brulee croissant pastry to try. Both had the right amount of crispiness/flakiness and airiness to their bite. The pineapple custard was tasty with a nice char on top to bring out the caramelized sugar and pineapple flavor. Croissants and pastries run about $5 to $7. They also seem to have sandwiches ranging from $9 (for their breakfast sammie) to about $16 for more filling and savory choices. Compared to other locations, this place is small. Not a lot of variety but the treats are very yum as in other places. Taste fresh and sweet. Some deli items as well. There are plenty of drinks available as well. You get a tray and some tongs, and there are some sliding doors to get to the goods. The service was very friendly and fast. Pain aux Raisin (A) - this is a relatively well made pastry alternating between crispiness with the puff pastry and softness with the raisins and added cream. Crab Croquette (D) - this is quite an expensive pastry for all bread and minimal imitation crab meat; the worst part is that the bread is dry! Sweet Potato Twists (B) - There's two versions of these pastries, the mini one and the full size version. The mini ones are extra crispy and have a crunchy texture but do not supply much more than that. The larger one actually has sweet potato flavor, but unfortunately remains a bit dull beyond some sweet paste. Croissant Loaf & Raisin Bread (A) - Both these loaves are light and fluffy, a hallmark of enjoyable bread. I liked how the raisin bread has copious amounts of raisins, which carried the flavor. For the croissant loaf, the pastry had several thin layers with the butter creating richness and airiness into the loaf, making it enjoyable. Yuzu Mochi Donut (A) - the donut is light and fluffy! I really liked the yuzu flavor as it is very forward and lifted the dish in acidity and sweetness nicely. I was looking for something sweet while on my lunch break and Google'd "Macarons near me" and "Bakeries near me," Paris Baguette actually did not show up at all on Google Maps, so I originally had no idea it was just 2 minutes away from me! Now that I know it is so close by, I think I will be coming here to get pastries at least once a week. The shop has both Asian and French inspired desserts either wrapped, unwrapped, or on the cake display case. This is a smaller Paris Baguette than what I am used to, and all the pastries are behind a glass. Typically, you would get your own tray and tongs to pick out the pastries yourself, but here you would just inform the staff of which items you want. There's a small sitting area in the back, but it is closed off due to COVID. I just ordered a pistachio and strawberry macaron which were medium sized and a little over $2 each. I am extremely unsatisfied with both cakes that I got at this location, which totaled nearly $100. I have gotten the same cakes at other Paris Baguette locations, and this is by far, the worst. There is no way this is the norm! I feel completely cheated. Both cakes were noticeably shorter in height. I was in a rush to set up the party so I did not take on this complaint with the staff. Everyone made a comment as to how small the cakes were. Several even said that they could eat the whole cake themselves. Not sure how it's supposed to serve 8 people. Tried contacting their customer service for a partial refund, but no response. Not surprised. Sigh. Update: I received an email response from them, but they completely disregarded my complaint: "Thank you for your email. This Paris Baguette may be the smallest one I've seen yet but that doesn't mean the pastries and bread aren't delicious! Storefront is right in the middle of the financial district (near Montgomery Station) and the entrance is tucked a little from the street. Store is long and narrow and the bread selection is the first thing you'll see to your right. To the immediate left, it's pretty empty due to the pandemic but towards the end you'll see plenty of cakes for any kinds of celebration. Near the cash register there's a tiny selection of pastries (makes sense since we're in a pandemic and there's probably not a lot of foot traffic). My to go for the day: 1) matcha cream croissant 2) coffee cream croissant (or was it espresso cream?) 3) peanut butter crunch 4) sweet potato bread 5) coffee bun 6) hash brown bun As of this review, I have only had the matcha cream croissant and it was absolutely delicious. The matcha was lightly sweetened but still that that strong, matcha flavor. I'm not a huge fan of overly sweet matcha so this was perfect. The croissant was a bit dark on the outside but it was still flaky and I don't think I tasted anything burnt. Overall, with the reopening and people going back to work, if you work/live near the financial district, this would be a great place to pick up some breakfast to go. I came to this establishment today and I order a latte with no ice that cost me $6.15. To start my coffee was 75% full, when I ask the ladies they told me it is because of the ice I did not order. So I told them that does not make any sense and if they can fill it out for me but they refused and with a bad attitude told me that it the way it comes. They are so many options out there for coffee, but I like to come to this location because of the sweets cakes I can get but with all of this poor costumer service it makes me start looking for other options. Finally a Paris Baguette in San Francisco! It's super close to my work office too. I don't go into the office much but when I did earlier this month, I was so happy to see it open. It's on market but also has an entrance on Sutter but with Covid, only the market street entrance is open. If you walked down this particular block, it's a grimy part of Market. Paris Baguette decided to open up right above Montgomery Bart station and a couple stores away from one of the roughest 7-11 locations. So they will have their share of drama, but i guess they decided to brave it, and now this little bakery is the one bright spot. It's a mini-location compared to all the other locations i.e. Berkeley, Millbrae, etc. But it's clean and compact. All the workers were friendly and one thing about Paris Baguette is that they always are well staffed. Since the start of covid, all the bakeries have pretty much all switched to the individually wrapped pastries and PB has as well. I wanted something savory so I purchased a ham and cheese croissant. It's tasted good but it's just very small for the price. So overall cleanliness, taste, staff, all good. Just don't expect to be fully satisfied unless you order about $15 of pastries. read more
