You never know what you are going to find in and near Asian Town. I this unassuming shopping center is a place with treats that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. I came here for the egg rolls and discovered to much more. These Vietnamese egg rolls are crispy and full of flavor (unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture)... you don't even need a dipping sauce. What's not likely at this Parisian Bakery II is there was no cafe. I heard from the owner at the other location, it's a family owned restaurants. One, two, three and four owned and or operated by mother, father, son and daughter. I'm not into details but I love the consistency in taste and quality. This Parisian Bakery II is located in the elbow of this L shaped strip mall. I believe the strip mall is called Tatung Venture LLC located at the corner of Wilcrest and Beechnut. Easier to get here from the Beechnut entrance. Don't expect to sit down during Covid-19 pandemic. It's easier to pick what you want out of shelves and cooler. If you want bánh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), wait at the sandwich counter. Standard price for standard sandwich is $5. Fancier is little bit more. Best Banh Pate So in town. (Vietnamese empanada) It's just the right about of breading and the meat inside is huge and super flavorful. Skip the banh mi, probably some of the worst I've had. Prices have increased over the years for their French bread- it's now $1.25 for 3 large or 5 small ones. My mom always buys their bread weekly to make sandwiches for lunch. The bakery supplies many of the Asian grocery stores and restaurants/cafes with their bread. They have 3 locations in the Chinatown area. Just toast up some bread in the toaster oven and it will taste heavenly- thin, crunchy outer layer and soft, tasty goodness on the inside. You will be in carb heaven!!! Make sure to try the pate chaud (pastry with meat filling- it's the Vietnamese version of an empanada) and the giant-sized, buttery croissants. They have a decent banh mi station there too- buy 5 sandwiches, get 1 free but I prefer the ones at Don's or Nguyen Ngo. The sweet sticky rice with chicken is a good to-go option for lunch. I sometimes get the banh bao (steamed savory bun) or banh gio (minced pork and rice dumpling) for lunch too. Every now and then I'll even get the crunchy palmier cookies (they are puff pastry sheets molded to look like elephant ears, then baked to caramelize the sugar). Depending on the season, they have fresh pressed sugar cane juice too, which is a real treat for those hot summer days. They add some kumquat juice to the sugar cane juice, giving it a sweet and citrusy taste. Go grab a few bags of freshly baked bread and you'll be coming back on a regular basis. There must be drugs in the bread because I am addicted to it! The location is less busier than the Dun Huang or the Viet Hoa shopping plaza, so I prefer this location the most. Alright, been coming here for a while. I called at 11:08am to place a to-go order for 4 Bánh mi. I said I'll be there in 15 mins when lady #1asked. Due to stoplight being broken, encountered a lot of traffic, so got there over at 11:34am. The lady #2 looked confused when I said pick up to-go. She asked lady #1 if she has made a mistake. Another came rushing over telling her in Vietnamese that I had came too early. I said 15-20 mins but came too early. the heck?! It's past 20 mins already! Then what annoyed me was that they started making 1 Bánh mi here and there for ppl who came after me!! Then when lady#2 was trying to tell me what each color rubber bands meant, lady#1 said she doesn't understand Vietnamese. I said I do understand, and I called about 30 mins prior. Then she was shocked and was like good thing I didn't bad mouth you. Uhh.. she kind of did by blaming me for "coming early" instead of admitting her incompetence of not submitting my order to lady #2. And then serving ppl who came after me. Sometimes, I roam the streets of our fair city just to see a different part of town. But, like clockwork, I get a hankering to stuff my maw with something savory. Roaming the wilds of Alief on a vacation day last week, I wanted to try out a new place and consulted the Yelp Oracle. Parisian Bakery 2 and Cafe came up. Who couldn't love "Paris"? Who couldn't love a "bakery"? And, it has got to be good since it is the second in this chain, right? Seeing David N's 5-star burble clinched it for me, too. Upon entering, you face a bank of cases with a couple of large clear plastic bins holding the small and large banh mi baguettes on the side. Two tables are next to the drink cooler but this is mainly a to-go kind of place. The friendly Vietnamese staff are eager to take your order, educate you on the items that are new to you, and upsell you nicely if you want (hooray for capitalism!). I opted for the "fully Monty" treatment and bought a BBQ-filled extended bun ($2), inquired about this pate chaud ($1.75) item, then bought one to try. Copping a squat at one of the 2 tables, I tore into that BBQ bun: deliciously filled to bursting, it glistened with either an egg wash or some drizzled butter - maybe both. And, it was topped with some chopped bell peppers and green onion. Fantastic bargain. Moving on to the pate chaud, it turns out to be a seasoned meatball encased in some flaky luscious pastry. The meatball wasn't much to my liking but I'm still proud that I tried it out. The pastry, though, was delightful and I ate all of it. I can see how this foundation would make their other offerings better. They also make banh mi but that will wait until a future visit. All in all, this spot wins for serving superior savory snacks without socking it to your wallet. And, unlike Paris, you won't need those high-priced Euros for this place. read more

The shopping center looks a little run-down, as does the inside of the store, but overall, the Vietnamese sandwiches are really good. I've had the meatball, combination, barbecue pork, and grilled chicken on multiple occasions, and all of them have been flavorful and good. As a bonus, the french bread is a good texture (not too hard and not too soft), they don't skimp on the buttery mayo, and the sandwiches are buy 5, get 1 free ($3-$3.50 each). As some downsides, the inside looks a little run-down, there are some houseflies flying around, there's little seating, it's a little stuffy (they're Asian, so they may be saving on A/C), some of the workers don't speak/understand English well, and the desserts (the green sweet cakes and chè) are too sweet for my taste. If you are not eating the sandwiches right away, you can ask them to not toast the bread and keep your veggies separate. The price has gone up; sandwich is now $4 each instead of $3.50. You can still get 1 free if you buy 5 sandwiches. We got 2 pâté chaud for lunch. They are ok, pastry was kinda dry & the filling was not as tasty as before. The lady owner will usually try to upsell you so be clear & adamant if you don't want it. And make sure your bill is correct. They should have told me that they are only accepting cash when I place my order over the phone. I ended up running at the gasoline station and withdraw and charged of $3.00 - Also, when I ordered yesterday, I was told that it will be $.50 per eggrolls, only to find out it was $.60 I am not mad because I need to pay additional $.10 each eggrolls, I am mad because of the inconveniences. The breads, pastries and other Vietnamese snacks are good. However, you should make sure that you are not overcharged. Several weeks ago, I was at the store to buy many small rolls, and Vietnamese snacks. The cashier, a dark skin Vietnamese man, tried to charge me for more than 48 dollars when the actual amount was around 32 dollars. When I made him review the charge again, he quickly apologized that he made a mistake. Interestingly, he made the same mistake with a customer before me. That customer also pointed out that he was overcharged! Also, this place takes cash only. It must be to avoid having to report the actual revenue of the business with the IRS. Overall, I recommend the food; however, don't let yourself be overcharged by an unscrupulous cashier. read more

I went to this bakery and the environment was ok, but they only accept cash. We only had card and the man there said it was fine if I spent at least $10 there but then the manager came and said "no $20", which was fine also, but I feel a little lied too because I felt like the business was slow and she just made $20 up so we can buy stuff and I intended only to came here to buy 2 banh mi. Also the man who took our credit card took so long with the transaction and was holding the card in the back so I don't know what he was doing and did not want to give our receipt until we asked, so that for me, was sketchy, and he was on his phone while doing everything.
