I never gave this place the light of day but I'm glad I finally did. So, one night my cousin and I walked in at around 10p, and Thomas, one of the bartenders, is way cool to serve your drinks. He hooked us up with free flaming shots (to help us get drunk; per our request), and about 8 cocktails and 6 additional shots later it was closing. Long story short (overlooking that guy who hit on us later that night, I kid you not!) this bar has a good knowlege on alcohol and serves it JUST RIGHT! As some other reviewers have mentioned, this place is made exponentially better by the presence of the Bucharest Grill in the same space. The prices are not really much to shake a stick at; $7 beers in this part of town aren't memorable. But the bar staff are witty and fun, the atmosphere is classy yet relaxed, and the shawarmas you don't even have to walk out a door to buy are fantastic. If you're in Foxtown and especially if you frequent Foxtown, you shouldn't pass up an opportunity to visit Park Bar. read more

One of my favorite places to pre-game for a Red Wings or Tigers event. Great location near Comerica, Ford Field, and a quick walk to the People Mover. Inside the bar is mostly dark wood with some unique wood benches and tables. Atmosphere is laid back with a touch of hipster, in a good way. There is a large round bar in the middle that usually staffs 1 or 2 bartenders. Drinks are fairly quick but place can get crowded at times and they don't have servers for drinks at the tables. The selection of MI beers is really good and changes periodically with the seasons. You can order a local "Dirty Blonde" beer or a special martini but this is more of a beer\basic drink crowd. They have an upstairs and they boast local bands and other entertainment. I have never been for any of these events but heard it's a good time. My favorite part of the park bar is the Bucharest Grill. They have a really good Chicken Shawarma salad (huge) and good chicken Shawarma sandwich. The chicken is all white meat breast cooked fresh on a grill that you can watch. Menu has some soups, fries, multiple salads, multiple hot dogs, and some appetizers but the Shawarma is the most popular. Some of my friends really like their "fancy" hot dogs\sausages. Service is quick and you order at the Bucharest Grill counter that's inside the Park Bar. Once you order you get a number and can take a seat in the Park Bar (all connected). They will promptly bring out you food and then the yum begins!! A must try location! read more

The quintessential neighborhood Detroit bar (except during Tiger's games, when it gets compeltely over run.) They have a decent beer list with mostly local selections. Avoid the mixed drinks, if you care about cocktails at all. The round bar makes it an ideal gossip scene, to see who's around and find out allt he local happenings. After eating at Comerica, I wish I had eaten here when I came before a Tigers game. Park Bar is an excellent stop to make before or after a Tigers game. I arrived an hour before first pitch and was looking for a seat by the bar. Luckily a nice couple were getting up and offered us their seats. They were super friendly, even after telling them I was from New York (but letting them know I too hated the Yankees). The gentleman told our bartender to be nice to us. I asked him what I should do for food at the stadium. He informed me I should eat at Park Bar. He was right. He said the food wasn't that good in the stadium, but I told him I had to find out for myself. He kept telling me about this amazing dish he had called shawarma. I informed I've been eating shawarma my whole life, and that I'd be ok. The staff here was friendly. They let me know what they had on tap. Unfortunately they didn't have any Jameson. Went here on a fun Friday evening out. The place was hoppin... there was a Tigers game and Lions pre-season game that night. There was one bartender... and I cannot think of his name, but I made sure to ask for it before I left because he was thorough and made excellent drinks. He made the most perfect lemon drop shots -- especially compared to one I had from his co-worker. You could definitely tell the difference. My vodka & tonic was the typical vodka & tonic, but he squoze the lime perfectly...and while that may not be "review-worthy", it shows that he took good care with the drinks he made and didn't just plop a lime on the top of my glass. I've been coming to the Park Bar since their opening and it was our little secret. Well the secret is defintely out and in a big way. The decor is perfection in my opinion. Walls of windows, beautiful round bar surrounded by industrial chic seating. The music is great but the beers....that's where it's at. They've got a great rotation of Michigan beers. Simply a well run establishment. Quality, local beer on tap ALL THE TIME. Chicken Schwarma, yes. My direction when coming here. Order said local beer of your choice and a chicken Schwarma. Add in some grape leaves (beef not lamb, therefore a little fattier) if you're feeling hungry. You will leave happy. This is a pretty standard urban yuppie bar. If you're reading Yelp, that probably includes you, so relax there. It's all right for what it is, and they seem to understand their niche. The bar stools are super comfortable and the bar tenders are cool. The BLUE STORM hand dryer in the potty is super weak though. It's like an asthmatic baby blowing on your hands. Sometimes Yelpers give me a good chuckle with their reviews and sometimes it's their ratings. This place wouldn't warrant a 4 Star rating if it was the only option. And thankfully it isn't. And I feel I am being rather generous with that second star. Everything here is average...at best. Except the prices. These, I agree are above average. However, I'll pay more for convenience and location. Buy why would anybody do that here? Why shouldn't they you ask? Because you can blindly walk in any direction and end up at a superior locale in less than 2 minutes. If you factor out the ratings received for Bucharest Grill (that is no longer here) and you'll see a steady decline. They have benefitted from housing Bucharest long enough that it's true 1.5 star rating will take some time to get there, but it will. Jon T. is on the spot: Park Bar represents Detroit. The owner represents Detroit. The good side, at least. The Park Bar isn't perfect, but its a great place to check out. I even ended up meeting the bars owner, Jerry, while out having a smoke at Cliff Bell's. He had just installed a bike rack outside and we were discussing it with him. With a commitment like that, engineering, designing, getting permits, etc just to put a bike rack outside your bar, you know he cares. Great bar. It has a really nice selection of local brews and is in the perfect location for so many of Detroit's many offerings. It's the perfect stop through type place. I've come by before going to see the Tigers, after concerts at the Fox or Filmore...after the Cliff Bell's Yelp event. It's in the perfect place and the atmosphere is open and casual. There are some well crafted booths made from wood & metal. They add a nice unique touch. One wall has up & coming events, another some nice mod art & the other is all windows. It's a nice chill & unique bar. Nothing fancy, just good beers & a good atmosphere. I've yet to try the Bucharest Grill next door but it always smells fantastic like delicious shwarma. I'm glad the Park Bar is in Detroit. It's casual easy going style sets it apart from other bars in the area. read more

Went to Park Bar for the Buchacrest Grill food, but ended up sitting in the bar at a booth with my parents. We ordered a round of drinks at the bar, because there are no waiters in the entire establishment, then ordered our food at BC. After our food was delivered and we had mostly finished our meal, my mom went to the bar for a refill on her pop only to wait at the bar for over 10 minutes while the bartender ignored her REPEATEDLY. Seriously, this guy was beyond rude. He was talking with a group of three people seated at the bar and giving them samples of draft beers and never even gave my mom a glance to say he'd be with her in a moment. I've never seen this type of horrible treatment to a paying customer. I'll only be back to get a carry-out order from BG, because it's pretty darn good, but will never patronize Park Bar ever again. read more

The Park Bar totally represents Detroit....in a GOOD way. It reminds me of an underdog just like the D. This place isn't the cleanest and it seems like certain parts of the bar are like your dad's famous home improvement projects...continuously on-going... but nonetheless, it's perfect the way it is. The owner and some of the help, have been around here for awhile and are trying to make Detroit a better place. As a result, the people who live in and/or visit the D frequently, this is one of their spots because everyone is simply, well cool, in the true sense of the word. This bar is really cool. I came here during the Final Four last Saturday to watch the game with fellow Detroiters. They have a good selection of beers that I had never tried, I really liked the Detroit Brewing Company's Ghetto Blaster brew. There were several televisions around above the bar on the first floor and the second floor held several flat screens and a giant projector. The whole bar has an industrial, gritty feel with chains holding up the bar and music posters plastered all over the walls. Also, the Chicken Shawarma sandwich at the kitchen next door to the bar is killer, possibly the best I have had in the Detroit area. read more

The park bar is cool because of the way its set up. When looking for this bar you gotta remember there is no sign. When you first walk in its a restaurant then walk up the stairs and its set up perfectly for a live band. That's why I was there and I had an excellent time. Park Bar has gradually become one of my favourite destinations downtown. There is a great vibe inside and if you're not going to be at a game nearby it's the next best thing. The staff is extremely professional and just great to be around. The beer, wine and spirits selection is great. I especially like the layout of the bar. Drinks are priced alright, the food from Bucharest Grille makes it a great late night destination. The beer is decently priced. If you might want more than one beer you should sit at the bar especially if it's busy. There isn't really a space for a line to order drinks so if is busy good luck getting the bartenders attention in a reasonable amount if time. The funky booths are cool.
