We were spending the day at the HMNS and had tried to go eat at the McDonald's there but the line was outrageous...so I pulled out my phone and Yelp quickly told me that the Park Grill was nearby. I thought the prices were really great. I think 6 of us ate for under $50. When you buy a sandwich you can choose from a ton of different options to go with it (a drink, fries, chips, etc). My sandwich was sooo good. I love the bread it was on and everything was fresh and crisp.

Nice little dining location. It's across from Park Plaza hospital, so it does have a few hints of a hospital cafeteria. They have daily specials cafeteria style, when we were there it was lasagna. However it's primarily a bistro type place and catering business. They have more options that I ever expected from a place that its main business is hospital workers and visitors. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Breakfast options include muffins, bagels, fruit danishes, taquitos, croissant sandwiches, kolaches and quiche. They are all $3 or less. They daily specials can include french toast and omelettes. Lunch options include regular sandwiches, paninis, wraps, salads, hamburgers, and smoothies. The regular sandwiches and paninis are nicely priced at $5.50 - $5.95(sandwiches) and $6.50 - $7.25(paninis), they come with chips or a side and a pickle. I do not recommend that you sub their cup of fruit for the chips. I only had melons and grapes, everything was on the mushy side. The wraps and salads are in the same price range as the paninis. I didn't see anything priced above $7.25. We got the smoky Chicken Sante-Fe Panini, $7.25, and Chicken Salad Sandwich, $5.75. They were both good and on the same level as Panera Bread for me. The croissant was nice, soft and buttery. There wasn't much of a line and once we ordered our food came out very quickly. The place has a little quirky feel to it with it's boasting on several holdings of World Records listed on their front board. I thought the most interesting one was most deliveries during a hurricane. Kind of hidden away you can find this place driving down Caroline towards Houston Museum of Natural Science, it's just past Bodega's Taco Shop. The only way you know where its located is the two standing signs outside the building. While they cater mostly to hospital peoples, I think this is a great option if your out and about in Hermann Park or the Museum District. It's just across the street from the Garden Center and I think widely undiscovered by the park, museums and zoo patrons. This is a place to pick up from and take it to the park for a nice picnic.

    Small little sandwich shop.

Small little sandwich shop inside the medical building lobby. Lots of drink selections and fountain drinks. They have a wide variety of burgers and deli sandwiches. The entire place can seat about 20 people, and it seems most customers work in or near the medical building.

    TOO MUCH BREAD...JUNKIE FRIES.

The absolute BEST breakfast taco! Go for the pre made ones or order as you wish. Only downfall is they are not open weekends. Recommend!

He asked our food order first. We had to ask him if we could get drinks first. 3) When we did order we watched our drinks sit at the end of the bar for 10 min until I had to go retrieve them myself. 4) The food was INCREDIBLY mid for it being that expensive. Undercooked potatoes, overcooked chicken, not a single person at the table of 4 adults had a good thing to say about their meal 5) It took 2 FREAKING HOURS with no one there. When I say no one I mean completely empty 6) Trying to check out and leave. Our server who was looking for an upsell told us he saw a cookie in the back that was ready to go. Thanks for telling our 3 small children that at 9:30. Reluctantly after telling him no several times it was awkward enough to cave. Cookie took about 20 minutes to come out. We had been there for over 2 hours at that point and we had to just get up and leave. If you go to this restaurant after reading this, you deserve the horrible experience you will certainly have.

We sat at the communal table because reservations on a Friday at 3:30 were completely full. Our waitress was very friendly and made great recommendations. The chef even came by to check on us and see if things were good. We started with the suya skewers which were well seasoned and delicious. I went with the Golden which came with chicken but I added shrimp as well. It was one of the most flavorful dishes that I've had. The curry was yummy and the jollof was spicy. My friend had the buka and really liked it. Everything was so well flavored and portions were huge. They also have a really great happy hour where you can get smaller versions of the entrees for an amazing price. I'll recommend this to anyone in Houston. And I hope they decide to open a spot in NY soon so I can become a regular.

We started by sharing a couple of appetizers - the smoked redfish dip and the biscuits. I'm weird about smells and aftertastes - and was hesitant to try the smoked redfish dip. The dip was flavorful and very smoky - the crackers it is served with were amazing. The aftertaste was tolerable, but a little fishy for me. The biscuits - I could write poems about them. I'd go back to eat baskets of just those biscuits. Highly recommend. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter - it was amazing. The catfish nuggets were crunchy and HOT (temperature), the fries were perfectly seasoned and the hush puppy was a crunch heard around the globe. Sadly, the shrimp and grits arrived to the table at room temp. The flavor was really good, but I was worried to mention the temp issue and have the kitchen nuke them in the microwave. The red beans and rice were similarly room temp and congealed. The restaurant atmosphere was lovely, the service was solid, and on a Tuesday evening we could have walked in and been seated quickly. Overall, it was a nice evening with our friends. Sometimes the company makes up for small disappointments.

We weren't drinking so we did mocktails. Their selection is solid. I recommend the Million Dollar Baby and the New Madness. For the oysters, we did 2 of each: fried, smoked and roasted. I would low key just come back for oysters next time. They were that damn good. I was let down by the dry-aged burger. Even though I ordered the burger as medium, it was pretty dry. I've had better burgers from joints around town. Not worth $24. The Chicken entree was an absolute let down. I won't even elaborate. Some of our favorite entrees were the carrot soup and crab rice. Both were out of this world. For me the food was 3/5, service (aside from staff forgetting occasion of visit) 5/5, value 3/5. Also valet parking is $8. I'm still undecided if I'll be back. Need to recover from spending $275 on a single dinner. Ouch.
